Three separate components were made: just cooked tender sago pearls, a mango soup that consisted of numerous Filipino mangoes (maybe 8?) and a splash of evaporated milk (touch of lemon, sugar syrup, water and mago juice), cubes of mango and careful pulp separation from half a large pomelo (I like lots of texture in mine). This was a not too sweet but very satisfying finish to a great and hearty meal. Well worth the hours of work.
Inspired by the great work of Thomas Allen’s photography work. I have made cut out from old pulp stories and photographed them in a macro lance to get the depth of field bouque.

Did a test run of a game I'm going to be running at our local gaming convention next week. 1920s/30s pulp era Lost World mayhem, with dinosaurs, Model Ts and other entertainment.
One player got eaten by raptors, several nearly drove off or into cliffs, someone backed into a T. Rex's foot, and we witnesses the clash of titans when an angry T. Rex and an irritated Brontosaurus clashed.
Grand silly fun on a rainy Sunday afternoon!

Strobist info: lit with one bare SB28 camera right and one bare SB28 back right for separation. Sorry, I can't remember the settings as I was in a big hurry. They were bare because it was extremely windy !

I picked up this cased image because it was advertised as a ruby ambrotype. The clothing clearly indicates that the photo was taken in the 1880s, much later by about 20 years than one would expect for an ambrotype, and I thought it might indicate that glass images were still being made at that late date. But when I got it home and opened it up, I discovered that it was only a tintype that someone had put in an older photo case. Oh well, it is still a cool image with the two women reading what looks like a pulp magazine. The "fiction" has to do with the mislabeling of the image type.

I used to read horrible old H.P.Lovecraft as a boy. I think he would have disapproved of my little joke.
This little scrollwork piece for the heart plaque was made with paper pulp, painstakingly pieced together from the smallest bits of fiber at a time using tweezers. About the thickness of a piece of string, it measures 1.5" by 0.4". It is likely the thinnest type of work I can reasonably do, and is my first attempt at such a small object.
who's idea was this? wearable pulp fiction cover (mini -- embedded in resin) for $1. the perfect gift from my friend Libby.

Built in 1916 as a car ferry for the Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo Navigation Co., she ran for only 16 years. After a lay-up of 10 years, she was requisitioned in 1942, her engines going into other ships, while her hull was sold to Roen Steamship Co. where she was converted to a pulp barge. She still sails under her original name.
