En la Puça, Petrer, vuelan ejemplares de Cordulegaster boltonii, un bicharraco imponente que no suele verse parado, siempre patrullando aguas arriba, aguas abajo. Muchas gracias Ricardo Menor por tu excelente trabajo de campo, la foto serÃa casi imposible sin esta gran labor.
En la rambla de La Puça, Petrer, podemos encontrar varias especies de odonatos, entre las libélulas que vuelan en el paraje podemos ver a la bonita S. sinaiticum, en la imagen un macho con un colorido de transición a la madurez, el abdomen es practicamente de adulto pero tanto el tórax como los ojos aún tienen tonos juveniles.
"Se trata del último libelúlido europeo descrito. Su presencia en la penÃnsula ibérica no es reciente, como lo demuestran distintos ejemplares que se mantienen en el Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales en Madrid. El más antiguo procede de Cartagena y data de noviembre de 1900." Del libro de Arturo Bernal Sánchez: "Odonatos en la provincia de Cádiz", 2021.
Y el macho de la especie en el mismo sitio que las hembras pero un mes antes.
Es inconfundible con se rojo tan llamativo y me cuesta sacarle partido aunque en esta ocasión la luz era favorable.
En vuelos posteriores pude observar que esa deficiencia en el tercer segmento se mantenÃa.

Se puede distinguir claramente a la hembra, tonos pardos, del macho, tonos azules, en ésta cópula de Orthetrum coerulescens. En la Puça, Petrer, Alicante.
La especie Calopteryx haemorrhoidalis es muy abundante en los rincones de la rambla de la Puça, Petrer (Alicante) y por ello nos podemos encontrar escenas curiosas.
En la foto dos hembras posan en el mismo junco y las dos abrieron las alas simultáneamente al paso de un macho.
La de la izquierda está terminando de comer un mosquito.

Uno de los parajes que más visitamos en la rambla de la Puça es su primera cascada, según el sentido del agua. Allà colocamos algunos posaderos (cañas, ramas, etc) para que se posen las libélulas y buscamos fondos algo diferentes aprovechando el agua.
En una de las cañas se poso este ejemplar macho de Orthetrum chrysostigma consiguiendo ese efecto bokeh de fondo de la fotografÃa.
One of the places that we visit the most in the Rambla de la Puça is its first waterfall, depending on the direction of the water. There we place some innkeepers (reeds, branches, etc) so that the dragonflies perch and we look for somewhat different backgrounds taking advantage of the water.

Éste macho se posó en una caña que se balanceaba sobre las aguas del riachuelo.

Con ese rojo intenso del macho de Crocothemis erythraea las condiciones de luz deben ser óptimas para sacar texturas pues no utilizo ningún filtro.

El otro dÃa me acerqué al paraje y pude observar individuos de Calopteryx haemorrhoidalis aunque muy poca agua en la rambla.
Tengo ganas de volver a jugar con ellas, en la foto una hembra.

Se trata de la misma hembra inmadura de Sympetrum sinaiticum de la foto anterior, solo que ha cambiado de posadero.
Aquà aproveché para hacerle una foto lateral de su costado izquierdo, donde se aprecia levemente su escama vulvaria entre S8 y S9.
Después de esta foto voló de nuevo y se perdió entre los rincones de la rambla de la Puça para completar su madurez.

Las abundantes lluvias de esta primavera han propiciado que algunas ramblas lleven un caudal superior a lo habitual y en la rambla de la Puça ya han empezado a volar algunos individuos de Cordulegaster boltonii. No es que hubieran muchos, pero algunos de ellos se prestaron a que les tomáramos algunas fotografÃas.

Este año he podido disfrutar, como ninguno hasta ahora, de este maravilloso y portentoso animal. Lo he podido fotografiar posado en diferentes dÃas y en varias ocasiones a lo largo de una rambla de la que supimos esta primavera.
Cordulegaster boltonii (en la foto un macho), popularmente conocida como "libéllula tigre", suele patrullar largos tramos de cauces estrechos, volando bajo y lentamente, sortenado las envestidas de machos de otras especies que velaban por un trozo de terreno a lo largo y ancho de la rambla. A menudo se posan en la vegetación ribereña, momento que hay que aprovechar para intentar fotografiarlos.
This year I have been able to enjoy, like no other so far, this wonderful and marvelous animal. I have been able to photograph him posed on different days and on several occasions along a ravine that we learned about this spring.
Cordulegaster boltonii (in the photo a male), popularly known as "tiger dragonfly", usually patrols long stretches of narrow riverbeds, flying low and slowly, dodging the envestida of males of other species that watched over a piece of land along and width of the ravine. El macho de Trithemis kirbyi se posó en la pared de roca erosionada por el agua, muy próximo al pequeño caudal que corrÃa por la rambla, defendiendo su territorio de los intrusos que por allà volaban, Crocothemis erytraea y Orthetrum brunneum y coerulescens, principalmente, aunque también lo hacÃa cuando aparecÃa algún ejemplar de Cordulegaster boltonii.
El hecho de que la roca estuviera erosionada me permitió tumbarme en ella y hacerle la foto.

Me llamó mucho la atención como disponÃa las alas hacia adelante al posarse tras cada uno de los vuelos que realizaba para cazar mosquitos, aunque en este caso no se le ve captura.

Coloqué unas cañas por si al macho de Anax imperator que patrullaba la zona se le ocurrÃa pararse y contemplar la pequeña cascada.

Ya vuelven a volar por la rambla de la Puça nuestras amigas las libélulas y, como no, la Cordulegaster boltonii.
Cuando terminábamos la jornada ésta se nos posó en una caña y aprovechamos el momento.
Lo curioso fue ver a la hormiga frente a su cabeza, que por lo visto deambulaba tranquilamente por el tallo de la planta.

Esta temporada he podido disfrutar de esta especie en un par de sitios, en ambos lugares los ejemplares no daban facilidades para ser retratados, algo nerviosos hasta que apareció esta parejita en cópula y se dejó hacer durante un buen rato, entonces hay que aprovechar.. Esto sucedió en La Puça, Petrer. Una buena mañana gratamente acompañado.
Este macho de Anax imperator me obsequió con bastantes posados en esa caña puesta en un lugar conveniente.
Pretendà jugar con el fondo que es roca, musgo y agua de una pequeña cascada. El trabajo fue intenso ....

Podemos apreciar la diferencia de tamaño de Cordulegaster boltonii frente a especies más pequeñas como Orthetrum coerulescens.
Pues bien, esa mayor envergadura no le sirve con "cara sucia" que no lo deja que se pose donde él está, aunque en este caso la excepción confirma la regla.
