South Portland Street Suspension Bridge in Glasgow - looking North. This bridge opened in 1853 but was reconstructed in 1871 due to sub Standard materials being used. More repairs were made in 1926, 1997 & it was repainted in 2005. These arches are rather imposing. All the suspension steel was replaced in 1871. The Forth Road Bridge was not the first Scottish suspension bridge to have faulty main cables.

Amersfoort is an underestimated Dutch town. To many people, it's a modern town in which to work, some people haven't even heard of it. It is however, well worth a visit, and there are some really good areas for photography. It is a medieval city, which has been well preserved.

When I first visited Lisbon the city still had buildings where house wives did the laundry together (by hand). Since then Portugal joined the EU and enjoyed some improved prosperity. But it seems that some people in the traditional working-class neighbourhood Alfama still stick to the old ways. I hope it is out of tradition or because of social contacts, not out of poverty.
Beautiful old part of Amersfoort. Very interesting to just wander around. Canals, reflections, old architecture, eating places, watering holes, everything one could possibly want to unwind.
