Fun sculptures by Spanish artist Santi Flores. He says they are figures showing individuality but demonstrating we can all come together . . . maybe. I just saw all these hands raised like excited children waving a greeting. They're lots of fun on Broadway between 40th and 38th Streets. I like the way they look like they're tickling the buildings.

The Meeting statue is a celebration of two people, two faiths and two distinct cultures coming together 400 years ago. In 1615, Chief Aenon of the Huron Wendat presents the Wampum belt, a symbolic gesture of friendship and alliance to welcome Samuel de Champlain and the French people to their land.

Quite a show above a downtown plaza that we just happened onto! On a website I saw the numerous sponsors and volunteers referred to as "Umbrella Allies."

Share the trail, in essence the motto of the local rail trail, whose users accommodate runners, walkers, cyclists, dogs and dog walkers, baby strollers, and so on. My German Shepherd loved this trail and easily learned to adhere to this advice.

Song of the Harvest Moon by Ian Pierce and Giuliano Da Lorenzo Pino

Located in the new St. Jacobs Community Space at Spring St. and Queensway Dr. Presented by Neuruda Arts.

Celebration and Community. Love and Nature. It is a call for happiness and abundance, but also an acknowledgement of cultural diversity. The Moon that shines it’s light on us, that lights our darkest nights, also guides us and gives a way to measure time. Time is circular. Cyclical. Time is Lunar. Time is felt in nature, and when we experience its passage through our lives it becomes memory. We attempt to measure time with clocks – but can we? Do we really understand time? Time gives us our own tiny place in infinity.

The silhouette of a guitar and the various symbols in the mural, are references to human culture in its many distinct and beautiful variations. We reach out to touch the divine, we give meaning to the vast universe, trying to touch infinity like the hand at the bottom of the mural. The hand of fortune in this mural shows us strength, community, creativity and adaptability; but above all Love. Love is the bottom line of our existence, it is how we thrive, what makes us so unique. We need to love, to be loved. Love is what brought Isabel to Canada thirty years ago, love is the foundation of Neruda Arts, and it is love that has made this mural possible.

This block pays homage to the women of pioneer families who worked alongside the men to settle Oxford County. Hard work in both the field and the home created strong women whose influence can still be felt throughout the County today. This block is located on a Century Farm which was purchased by Orin Kelner in 1901 and handed down through four generations of the Kelner family.

Chromatic Gate (1991; 633 East Cabrillo Blvd.) – Famed artist Herbert Bayer, who spent the last 10 years of his life in Santa Barbara, designed this 21-foot tall multi-colored arch located across from the beach. The piece received a much-needed face-lift in 2013 and is a striking frame to either the mountain or ocean view.

The Flamingo is the anchor of a rectangular plaza in the Loop, and these federal buildings were all designed by Mies van der Rohe.

Excerpt from martigny.com:

Each of Martigny's seventeen roundabouts is decorated with a sculpture by a Swiss artist.

In 1994, Léonard Gianadda proposed a new concept to the Martigny Municipal Council: install a monumental sculpture by a contemporary Swiss artist on each roundabout (whereas the sculptures in the Gianadda Foundation gardens are works by international artists.)

Erected in a spirit of art and welcome, these sculptures have been progressively accepted and integrated into the urban landscape. Martigny is the only Swiss town to have replaced red traffic-lights by art works.
