“Very few ‘B’-films of the forties have left quite the lasting impression of Bernard Vorhaus’ 1948 film noir ‘The Amazing Mr. X’, in spite of the fact that it is relatively unknown to moviegoers. Made under the typically stringent ‘B’-film economics of the day, ‘The Amazing Mr. X’ emerges as one of the most stylistically satisfying films of its type. This is in no small part due to the already established working relationship of director Vorhaus and his cinematographer, the legendary John Alton…

“‘The Amazing Mr. X’ (also known as ‘The Spiritualist’) is one of a handful of films produced for Eagle-Lion studios, a relatively short-lived operation, specializing in low budget, quality films. The script of ‘The Amazing Mr. X’ is derived from an original story by Crane Wilbur, a popular writer of the time. It tells of a young widow, Christine (Lynn Bari), who cannot and will not allow herself to heal from the pain that the loss of her husband Paul has brought. She lives in a beautiful Oceanside mansion with her younger sister Janet (Cathy O’Donnell). A handsome young suitor, Martin (Richard Carlson) has been attempting to bring Christine out of her shell of exile with little success. Into Christine’s life comes Alexis (Turhan Bey), a suave mystic who introduces her to the eerie world of clairvoyance; he insists that he can help Christine communicate with Paul from beyond. Provided with tangible results, Christine becomes obsessed not only with her dead husband’s spirit, but with the dangerously charming Alexis as well. Romantic intrigue swells as Janet becomes equally enamored of the mystic while Martin, with the aid of a very unusual private detective, uncovers enough startling information to provide the film with a genuinely unusual surprise ending.”

Quoting from the album cover:

". . . the landmark series of nine chillers released between 1942 and 1946 comprise this boxed set. "Cat People" brilliantly opened the cycle and immediately established the trademarks of the Lewton film: a literate screenplay, a strong visual approach with a heavy reliance on shadowy lighting, and an atmosphere of tension and menace that was always implied, never explicit. Believing that things unseen or imagined are scarier than any palpable manifestation, Lewton discarded the standard formula of mad scientists and terrifying monsters in favor of subtle, at times poetic, explorations into man's fear of the unknown. Despite their often lurid titles and promotional campaigns, these richly textured psychological thrillers quickly attracted the attention of leading critics of the day who lauded Lewton for his innovative contribution to the genre. After five decades, this remarkable group of films, originally intended as mere B programmers, continues to seduce viewers and have a lasting influence on filmmakers around the world."

Inside the mind of a Sociopath!

Hello my name is Tressa Graves and my life has been turned upside down for 4 years and counting. My new series 'Why did you write that?' is inspired by by actual events. It is inspired by by my movie 'Sociopath' and my book series 'The Stalking Monster'. This has been a very long journey. Reliving some of the horrific nightmares is beyond fearful but I do it for therapy as well as awareness.

In a nutshell I have been BRUTALLY STALKED! The FBI and police are working very hard on my open case. I can't share everything but what I can share I hope it helps. Once my court case is closed I will be writing my first nonfiction book titled 'The stalking of Tressa Graves The mOnStEr of Melbourne.'

Please follow my movie Sociopath and my website.

"The psychology of a person who murders," says acclaimed journalist M. William Phelps, "is a lot different from the psychology of a person who doesn't." So how exactly does a writer get inside the mind of a sociopath? Watch Phelps and bestselling authors Mary Burton, Beverly Barton, and John Lutz share their secrets about making villains, both real and imaginary, come to life on the page. Ebooks from these and other great thriller writers are available now from Open Road Media.

This was the second practical project - the chase scene. But this time I've decided to work by myself. I really wanted to find out which areas I'm most good at - I wanted to know which practical role belongs to me. This was the very first time of taking control of the entire process and producing the film as a whole. "Vestige" is a seven-minute psychological thriller about an amnesiac teenager who had just been given a confidential file containing photos that could help him remember his late friend.

"This job used to make me miserable because of the anxiety stemmed in the guilt for being in "Attack Mode" all the time until one day, I decided to give in, and fully embrace my inner sociopath and narcissistic tendencies. When I did this, and forgave myself for doing so, I felt both at peace and a new form of inner rage simultaneously, and at this moment, I became dangerous."- James Scott, Senior Fellow, ICIT and CCIOS

A five year hiatus was forced on Tressa due to a bad stalker situation. The Police and FBI investigation is still ongoing and Tressa has struggled to overcome developed phobias and fears. However, not only has she found the strength to venture back out in public, Tressa has built a significant level of confidence in writing out her experiences in her first non-fiction, true crime story. Tressa never thought her first true crime story would be her own. The title of the book is, ‘The Stalking of Tressa Graves – The MONSTER of Melbourne’ and reliving the experience is something she did not want to do. But, by suggestions of the law enforcement involved, she decided to move forward with it. The officers have said this is one of the most severe cases of stalking they’ve seen and suggested the story should be shared with others. It will be a very well researched story, as it is her own.

A side project taking off with a life of its own is, ‘The Stalking Monster’ which is a fictional story, ‘inspired by’ actual events. Tressa never intended or expected this to be the raging success it has. During the time Tressa was in counseling, this storyline was originally formulated as a form of frustration for her stalker and to expose him as the monster he is. It has garnered the interest of the right people for Tressa to be asked to generate an eight-part series for a movie production.

Other new writing projects include a book of short stories, ‘The Dark Hours’ Series.

SEDUCED TO KILL IN KAUAI is a novel of erotic suspense and psychological intrigue by crime writer R. Barri Flowers, the bestselling author of MURDER IN MAUI and MURDER IN HONOLULU. Married advertising exec Jack Burke finds his life in paradise turned upside down when he has a passionate affair with a mysterious and beautiful exotic woman who has her own agenda, with deadly consequences.
