Providence, Rhode Island USA

This chair was in the garden of one of the historic houses on Prospect Street in Providence, RI. I was taking the shot from the street through the iron fence when I heard someone demand "Excuse me" . When I turned around I saw a Brown University security cop in his car. As soon as he saw my camera he smiled and said "Oh, okay, enjoy yourself" and drove off as I was blithering about how beautiful the fog was.

Super windy & super cold.

Providence Canyon, which is sometimes called Georgia's "Little Grand Canyon" is considered to be one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia. The Canyon actually is not a purely natural feature — the massive gullies (the deepest being 150 feet) were caused by erosion due to poor farming in the 19th century. I was transiting through Georgia this weekend so I headed down to Southern Georgia for a look at Providence Canyon. The canyon formation, made up of a kaleidoscope of coloured sands and clays, owes its existence to destructive early farming practices in the 19th century as is was unknown at the time that the undulating hills were made up of deep sand deposits below a very thin crust of clayey topsoil. Once the topsoil had been disturbed the natural elements did the rest with the canyon progressively deepening over the subsequent 150 years. The dramatic pinnacles which remain are sections of clay which the sand has eroded around. The erosion gullies reach depths of 150 feet (or 46m) and are referred to by the locals as Georgia's "Little Grand Canyon". Providence Canyon State Park, Georgia, United States of America.

Dusk begins to settle in Downtown Providence, Rhode Island on a beautiful late autumn day.

In Kennedy Plaza in the heart of the city stands the Industrial Bank Building, since 1928 the city's tallest building, that after sitting unoccupied since 2013 looks like it will finally receive the rehabilitation it deserves.. Providence, Rhode Island, USA.

Providence & Worcester CT-1 passes south by Lyman Orchards on their very first run of 2022. The days train only consisted of a few cars and a single engine.

This group performed on one of the MANY stages at the PVDFest, in Providence, Rhode Island. Unfortunately, there was a change in scheduling so I do not know their name.

Providence & Worcester NH-1 shoves a cut of “NR-2 cars” north on the shoreline yard tracks. The power for this afternoon would be a god awful looking G&W painted GE (in addition to that, the one I personally hate the most). I think it’s safe to say the trains in this yard now are a joke compared to what it used to be back in the New Haven Railroad days.

A view of Providence..

Here is the historic Vancouver, Washington Providence Academy's smoke stack, laundry building, and boiler building. Providence Academy was built by Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart in 1873 and served as a school, orphanage, and governance offices for the Sisters of Providence. While other structures on the campus have recently gone through significant renovation efforts, the boiler and laundry buildings are set to be demolished. The iconic smoke stack is to be preserved and structurally stabilized.

An old craft of a highly advanced fleet, the Providence was kept long after other old ships were put out of production. The reason was because it was so reliable and did not need high maintenance like many other large battlecruisers did. It was the last of a long line of quality battlecruisers. The Providence is one of the last 4 remaining Antagonist-class Corvettes. Of the other three, one is in a museum and the other two are fully operational. The coloring seen here is of Captain A. R. McKenney, a well-loved but demanding officer.

Evidently I haven't improved much in photography since last year, but whatever.

Also, swoosh video coming probably Monday or so. I'm leaving for a college visit tomorrow-Sat. and it's raining right now, so I don't want to do it now.

Thanks to Rivet for helping with one section and Jacob for help with the wings.
