1.Design Principle:

I used the rule of thirds to position the chicken's head in the right third of the photo and the body in the bottom third. I used a higher ISO to compensate for the lower light in the morning because the coop is in an area with quite a few trees. I really like the position of the light from the back and side which casts a shadow on its face.

2.Camera Settings:

Aperture: 5.9

Shutter Speed: 1/250

ISO: 400

3.Intended or story Narrative (if any):

This photo shows one of my chickens in the morning at feeding time. She glanced up at me between eating and I was able to catch this shot of her. The life in their eyes, expressions, and mannerisms give each chicken a separate personality. Mo is one of the top birds in the coop who holds her own. I think this shot shows her little attitude with the expression she has.

I was having a BBQ in my back yard, and I like to capture every interesting moments in my life, if possible. The weather was beautiful, it was not too cold nor hot it was just perfect. The food was great, and it was even more fantastic because there were no bugs.

I got this look by light painting. I used a flash light with a piece of white paper rubber banded to the front to defuse the light. This photo took us a few time to accomplish but I think it came out how I wanted it to.
