cloudy day, so many people, i used a 50mm lens but it'sa little bit short. anyway, the model is very good, and we took a lot of pictures.

I often think about taking landscapes in portrait but really do it so this challenge made me think again and this is a result
My idea for this self-portrait was to capture myself relaxing and enjoying the sun in one of my favorite spots. I wanted it to look like I was looking of into the distance thinking of a happy memory. The reason I chose this spot is because it does have happy memories for me, since it is the first place that my boyfriend and I went when he got back from Hawaii after serving in the Marine Corps for 4 years. It also, represents our hometown where we met and me being a Florida girl with my capris, sunglasses, and flip flop attire behind a water background. To make the photo look serene and highlight my face I positioned myself sideways away from the sun to not brighten my face, but not too much and still provide it enough natural light to see my emotion. I chose to wear sunglasses in the photo because my boyfriend and I got them at the same time so the signify something we share between us and it adds a little mystery to what I might be staring at. Also, I wanted to be sitting and looking away from the camera because I didn’t want it want to feel staged and only give a glimpse of my small smile. Overall, I wanted the photo to capture myself enjoying own of my favorite places that I have happy memories at.

This is the only self portrait I have done. I should have done one twenty-five years ago when youth was on the outside as well as in the mind. Now, it is only in the mind. Only if I could draw myself young again and it be real!!!!!!!!!!! I did this in January of 2007 only a couple of months after my discovery that I have a bit of talent.
