I headed down to the Parliament Buildings to catch the Brexit protests but there was only this one guy fighting a lone campaign in the shadow of the Winston Churchill statue.

Violinist and music student Arshak Makichyan, born in Armenia, has been an FFF individual protester since the end of 2019.
With his 'school strike for climate' he is to Russia what Greta Thunberg is to Sweden.
He started it when he was detained for 6 days after returning from the 2019 UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid.

In Russia, protests by individuals are allowed, so he regularly stands in Pushkin Square in Moscow.

When he inspired other people to go on 'individual strikes', he was repeatedly harassed by the Moscow police.
Registrations of larger FFF protests have failed so far in Russia.
With his girlfriend Polina Oleinikova he is present all over Europe and in the international TV media.

Their T-shirt text is relatively restrained: "Putin to retire". I want to see him in The Hague!
At the official opening of Vancouver’s Trump International Hotel and Tower. There were deliberate no-shows from some local politicians and community leaders.
Despite what the maps shows, the tower is on Georgia Street near Bute, not Robson Street.

Demonstrators took to the streets across Germany on Saturday September 17th to protest against the controversial new transatlantic trade agreement that would create the world’s biggest free market of 850 million consumers.
There were seas of flags in both Berlin and Munich as people flocked to join the rallies despite the rain, carrying placards and banners representing everything from anti-globalisation groups to political parties and unions.
While it was impossible to predict what was to come. There were small signs of unrest in Cairo in early 2011. A lone protestor shouts out in the streets of Cairo.

Minneapolis Police clear protesters out from around the third precinct police station using less lethal weapons. Protesters had gathered after the death of George Floyd the night before, this was day 1 of protests.
Note:This image is part of a continuing series following the unrest and events in Minneapolis following the May 25th, 2020 murder of George Floyd.
Thousands of protesters and supporters gathered along the Embarcadero in San Francisco today to watch the official run of the Olympic Torch as it visited San Francisco and the United States.
Unfortunately most spectators and protesters were disappointed when after gathering for hours city officials changed the torch route at the last minute.
Rather than run the torch along the previously arranged route along the Embarcadero, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, the torch instead travelled from McCovey Cove to Van Ness Avenue where runners then ran the torch down Bay Street and Marina Blvd.
The change in route for the torch run did not change the protest mood down along the Embarcadero however. Supporters of the Olympics exchanged chants and shouts with protesters who mostly seemed to be protesting China's continued occupation of Tibet. Flags were waved and protest signs were carried in an overall peaceful demonstration.

It was a protest here, in Stockholm, the other day.
Illegal gathering, due to the number of people participating due to COVID-19.
At this point, they were looking for us. For some unknown reason, really.
We took a decision to just step inside.
They were quite dissapointed of being completely neglected.and left after like ten minutes.
As far as I am concerned, it was a partly peaceful demonstration, and partly, as usual, just to stir up some shit.
They should´ve protested against more relevant, domestic problems in this country.
Making a protest about kids in retention in asylum camps on Manus and Nauru where 12 children have died waiting to come to Australia .

Women's Protest Marches across the country which drew a wide range of humans who care about freedom and democracy.
Wikipedia calls these gatherings the largest one-day protest in American history, citing 'Business Insider'.

NOT MY PHOTO.
A screenshot from today's NY Times; they also display one showing marches planned around the world. A scary and (initially, at least) sad time for America.
New figures today, Wednesday, suggest the number of marchers across the country may have been as many as 4 million. (After viewing many of the wonderful photos, I believe it!)

Groups I know this won't fit in your group - but this is a one day only protest. The latest one - that has been forced on people after they removed the opt-out button and which is still totally disastrous - has been the final straw.
"When you get just a complete sense of blackness or void ahead of you, that somehow the future looks an impossible place to be, and the direction you are going seems to have no purpose, there is this word despair which is a very awful thing to feel."
Stephen Fry was talking about depression ... but somehow it captures the way flickr is going....

A friend gestures. Camarillo, California. Truly, he dates back to sixties-seventies protest era. Fun dude. Claims he flipped off Nixon once (In a motorcade), who allegedly flipped him off back... and then stuck national security on him for 15 minutes....
A small vocal group near the steps of City Hall protest against China. More at BBC News: Why is there tension between China and the Uighurs?.
After the POW parade I did a little wandering and shot some street photos along Stephen Avenue.

I liked this shot as it captured subtly the anti-establishment protestor in the reflection of the red dress and numerous corporate designer logos that the protestor would be generally opposing.
From a photo taken on 26 May 2021 opposite the Houses of Parliament in London, a pro-EU, anti-government, protest in preparation.

When Trump Radicals -- e.g. Proud Boys -- descended on DC to instigate violence and protest the election. There is a chapter towards the end of my photo book (please support it via geofflivingston.com) dedicated to this period when Trump and Republicans continued to try and steal the election. The best of these photos will likely be in it. Comment or give some sort of a reaction on the photos you think belong there.
Protesting the Kinder Morgan pipeline, which will bring crude oil and refined petroleum from the oil sands in Alberta to Vancouver, British Columbia, presumably to be shipped to China. This will increase tanker traffic in and is a danger to our already threatened marine life in the Inside Passage, where two recent spills in two months have already occurred this year. An estimated 5,000 protesters joined the march, from the City Hall to the downtown library.
