“When a protector leaves you, it looks like the end of the world. But you gradually learn to walk by your own feet”

― Bangambiki Habyarimana, The Great Pearl of Wisdom

This Mama Bear is not going anywhere. She has one job to do and that is to protect her babies...and she does it well.

Vintage Western Electric surge protector. Commonly called a "lightning arrestor", this device protected the telephone lines inside the house or building from foreign voltages. The red fuses protect from large voltage increases. Sudden voltage surges would be grounded through pieces of carbon inside the brass cap.

...his work is almost done!

Cats are still almost sacred in Egypt.

A graceful posture of a protector cat from the temple of Philae Aswan with stunning perspective leading to the sanctuary.

The iconic Point of Ayre lighthouse lights up the darkness on a crystal-clear late summer night. This shot is a five-image vertical panorama captured with my Nikon 20mm 1.8 Z lens, which is an absolute beauty of a lens. The rotating beams of the lighthouse make panoramas extremely problematic to get seamless stitching between all the frames. So the only real solution is to ensure that each frame is captured at exactly the same time, thereby freezing the beams in the same positions.

The 20mm is a very wide-angle lens but still didn’t give me enough to capture the belt of the Milky Way extending high up into the pitch black above. I felt the beams of light lost their impact if the darkness of the surrounding night couldn’t be captured too, so the panorama delivered the results I was looking for. Keeping my fingers crossed for more clear nights in the days and week ahead ✨

The Night Protector gals got new hairdos and I was experimenting with different lighting effects. None of them ended up being perfect (they're all blurry, dusty, etc) but the mood is there so they're passable. Overall I give this assignment a C+, good effort but needs improvement.

Was photographing eagles (they seem to be everywhere at present) when I unknowingly wandered into these plovers' territory. They immediately took to the air with fast, swooping fly-pasts to see me off. I noticed their chicks hiding in the grass - took no photos of the chicks as didn't wish to disturb them further.

"I place no hope in my strength, nor in my works: but all my confidence is in God my protector, who never abandons those who have put all their hope and thought in him."

Francois Rabelais

I beg your indulgence for posting another perspective of my earlier bay shots.

The breakwater protects the small cove on the right from the big waves. The waters (on the left of the breakwater) were a bit rough at the time I was taking this shot. The guys in the small boat were unmindful of these as the rocks protected them and kept the waters inside the cove calm.

New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) R42 no. 4807 (St. Louis Car Co., 1969-1970) is the lead motor on an out-of-service train rising onto the IND Liberty Avenue Line at Liberty Junction. This train was acting as a protect train for an R211T train that had been running on the Rockaway Line test track earlier in the day, which had passed just minutes before en-route back to Pitkin Yard.

Unfortunately my shot of the R211T train that I had waited hours for was blocked by a southbound A train that departed Rockaway Blvd Station too soon...

Found during my return visit. This is a launching point. i was lucky i didnt break my camera getting this one. walked down the ramp but slipped over on the algea abd seaweed. i was carrying my tripod with the camera attached. ended up holding the camera high in the air and just fell on my back onto the concrete. was more worried not to get the camera wet.

Ushnisha Sitatapatra, the Mother Protector, as conceived in Vajrayana Buddhist philosophy bears thousands faces and million eyes to take care of all perils...

The philosophic concept has an inspiring effect on my appreciation of deriving will power from within while keeping diverse faces of our expressions alert and million eyes of our moments in life awake to protect self from the evils around...there is none to protect us except us in strengthening ourselves by abiding roles and responsibilities of both citizenship and individual.

Mere wishes will not work until we sincerely act as our governments are advising us to do and as our moral senses direct.

Let us keep ourselves determined, duty-bound, caring and sensible to fight COVID19 !!
