Wilkes-Barre was settled in 1769 and reached the height of its prosperity in the 19th century when coal reserves were discovered nearby. This discovery led to the city being nicknamed “The Diamond City”.

On the eastern boarder of King Hirald's rule lies the Leoda Keep. Built as a symbol of prosperity, it stands an the shore of the Banonk Sea across which lies a land of war and terror. On a rock outcrop stands a memorial to all those who have fought for honor and glory in that far off land.

The Keep is maintained by Lord Aravhail and his woodsmen. Together they protect the eastern border in case of attack from across the sea.

Builder's notes: Boy it feels good to be building again! With my first semester of college in the rear view mirror, I needed to exercise some creativity, and a castle seemed like fun! The build overall weighs in at almost 20lbs! By far the heaviest MOC I've ever made. I really hope you like it as much as I do!

C&C Always welcome!

A big long gun safe at Jack’s house. My friend has no idea what this monster is keeping safe! Her dad (Jack), is so tight that he probably has a ton of cash in there. He just bought a beautiful red 4 door Ford pickup for 60K. 😳😵‍💫

Here's a shot of me next to the build for a sense of scale. I'm 5' 9" tall, and the photo backdrop is 7' tall.

DESCRIPTION:

The talented engineers of kingdom Astra have completed the frame of the the Prosperity. UPDATE: This version 1 is the final state as it fell over and got destroyed. The next ship will be a different version.

Prosperitas, navis regia ad astra:

"Prosperity, the royal starship".

The Prosperity is the royal flagship of the fleet: a space faring magical castle. A seed ship bringing the goodwill and cooperation of kingdom Astra to the Systar System and beyond.

BUILD SUMMARY:

This is a 2 meter / 7.5 foot Technic spaceship built from Jan 14 2019 - May 30th 2019. I've swooshed it on Bricksmith's livestream. The height is measured to the top of the dome, not the needle. Hours: About 20 hours a week during the duration of the build.

Download the 46 MP original to zoom in and look at some of the construction techniques and detail. Maybe you can count all the classic space astronauts sprinkled throughout the photo.

This is a 2 meter / 7.5 foot Technic spaceship I built over about six months. At this stage it's mostly the external frame that's complete.

The artists state: "The laughing Buddha entity is considered a symbol of happiness, abundance and good luck. We painted this golden chrome Buddha character with stylized neon clouds because we think all of us can use a little good luck considering what’s going on in the world right now. The Chinese word painted by Menace says Prosperity. Wishing everyone a Buddha Blessed Day."

When I joined the collaboration, I set out to design a cube unlike any other. Rather than concealing the frame and pillars, I chose to showcase them as defining features! This led me to the idea of creating a mostly open cube, contrasting with traditional designs. Inspired by a recent trip to Singapore, I decided to incorporate a fountain as a central element to capture some of this city unique character.

In aiming to encapsulate the essence of urban life, I wanted the build to reflect both the prosperity and the societal challenges—like wealth disparity, grime, and crime—that my home city share. And, of course, I couldn’t resist adding a few hidden French-themed Easter eggs. How many can you spot?

Dobbiamo (io per primo) ricucire questo enorme strappo che divide i Cittadini dalla Cosa Pubblica – dalla Res Publica, cioè – e per farlo servono tutte e tre le anime del Paese;

.

.

It is no coincidence that the Italian flag is composed of three colors ...

The perfect number, also contains the three souls of the Nation: north, center and south, which must remain united, especially in difficult times!

The greatness of a Nation is not only measured in GDP or SPREAD ...

Art, Culture, History, adaptability, solidarity, brotherhood, humanity, this is what makes great a Nation.

We have (me first) mend this huge tear that divides the citizens by the public affairs - from Res Publica, that is - and to do that we need all the three souls of our Country;

need confidence in a better Italy,

sovereignty to the People,

freedom for the Nation,

(and this is also what are the green, white and red).

Justice, equality, brotherhood, without which there can be no dignity, democracy and prosperity.

Thanks for all your kind comments to my last photos

SN/NC: Calotropis Gigantea, Syn. Calotropis Procera, Apocynaceae Family

Calotropis gigantea, the crown flower, is a species of Calotropis native to Cambodia , Indonesia , Malaysia , the Philippines , Thailand , Sri Lanka , India , China , Pakistan , Nepal , and tropical Africa. It is also called Apple of Sodom or Dead Sea Apple.

It is a large shrub growing to 4 m (13 ft) tall. It has clusters of waxy flowers that are either white or lavender in colour. Each flower consists of five pointed petals and a small "crown" rising from the center which holds the stamens . The aestivation found in calotropis is valvate i.e. sepals or petals in a whorl just touch one another at the margin, without overlapping. The plant has oval, light green leaves and milky stem . The latex of Calotropis gigantea contains cardiac glycosides , fatty acids , and calcium oxalate . The flowers are long lasting, and in Thailand they are used in floral arrangements. The extract of flowers and leaves has shown hypoglycemic effect in preclinical studies. They were favored by the Hawaiian Queen Liliuokalani , who considered them a symbol of royalty and wore them strung into leis . In Cambodia , they are used in funerals to decorate the urn or sarcophagus and the interior of the house holding the funeral. The fruit is a follicle and when dry, seed dispersal is by wind . In Indonesia its flowers are called widuri. According to Shivpuran (Hindu religion) the madar flower/crown flower is very much liked by Lord Shiva; therefore the crown flower and its garland are offered to Lord Shiva for peace, prosperity and stability in society. The Crown flower is also one of the major parts of the nine astrological trees (Navagrah tree).

The year is 1937. America and most of the world is experiencing the Great Depression. Rural Americans often relied on interurbans that were fairly prevalent from the turn of the century. Wisconsin especially had many lines connecting not only the larger cities, but many of the smaller towns in between. This is my interpretation of that era. While I dont wish to make accusations without the facts, it would appear the driver of the Cord 810 is rather well off for the times. The only time a car like that appears is when it's headed to one of the resorts up north frequented by the many gangsters from Chicago.

Smuggler's Cove in Flamborough, one of our favourite haunts.

Magical place and wonderful people, their catch, mainly crabs and are beyond words.

They also catch lobsters... they go straight to the Continent...

During the week, these fisher folk are working from very early morning, on Sunday, they take people around the surrounding bays, and to view the cliffs like the famous Bempton Cliffs, with all their natural (bird) wildlife, some take people fishing.

Here the skipper eased his boat in with confidence, funny how they spot a lens aimed at them so quickly..

Mind your head!

Again uncropped, take the time and experience the joys of the discipline of composing your image in camera…

Have a super day and thank you for visiting, Magda (*_*)

The refurbished Southern Railway Prosperity Depot waits by unabandoned but unused tracks for trains that no longer come by. In front is a frog sculpture serving perhaps as a reminder that, years ago, the name of the town had been Frog Level before residents in the 1870s settled on its current name of Prosperity.

I captured this photo during a relaxed evening stroll on our recent family trip to Abu Dhabi. To the right, you'll notice the gleaming stainless steel centerpiece of the Founder's Memorial, while to the left, the impressive Etihad Towers loom large. The Founder's Memorial holds a special place as it pays homage to Sheikh Zayed, the UAE's founding father, and symbolizes his visionary aspirations for the nation—a dream of unity, progress, and prosperity. It's an iconic landmark in Abu Dhabi, widely recognized. What immediately drew my attention in this photograph was the enchanting play of light, and I was thrilled to have a tourist in the frame to offer a sense of scale to the monument.

They came with their promises of prosperity for all. They desecrated the land, produced nothing and departed soon after with only their ghostly hulks left behind.

December, 2024

This is one of my favourite shots of 2024, possibly of all time. The river conditions were just right, the back story is long in the memory here on the island and this derelict jetty remains a powerful reminder of those times. Known locally as the "Black Jetty" and already familiar to me, it was a thrill to see it like this one morning and my monochrome treatment just seemed an obvious choice. I am submitting this photo into Flickr’s Your Best Shot 2024 Group and send my best wishes to all my fellow participants.
