The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (Traphont Ddŵr Pontcysyllte) is an aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee in the Vale of Llangollen in northeast Wales. The Aqueduct was designed by Thomas Telford.
The 18-arched stone and cast iron structure was completed in 1805 having taken ten years to design and build. It is 12 ft (3.7 metres) wide and is the longest aqueduct in the UK and the highest canal aqueduct in the world.
The aqueduct was to have been a key part of the central section of the proposed Ellesmere Canal, an industrial waterway that would have created a commercial link between the River Severn at Shrewsbury and the Port of Liverpool on the River Mersey. Although a less expensive construction course was surveyed further to the east, the westerly high-ground route across the Vale of Llangollen was preferred because it would have taken the canal through the mineral-rich coalfields of North East Wales. Only parts of the canal route were completed because the expected revenues required to complete the entire project were never generated. Most major work ceased after the completion of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in 1805.
The structure is a Grade I listed building and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Back from a great journey to South America, I would like to share a wonderful moment with you!
The photo shows a beautiful view of Rio de Janeiro from Sugarloaf Mountain, or rather what you can see of it through the clouds. After it had rained heavily in the morning with a blanket of clouds, we could not have expected to see such a spectacle. From below, the top of Sugarloaf Mountain was completely covered in clouds. So it was all the more beautiful to ride through the clouds on the cable car and enjoy this wonderful view. Opposite on the top of the mountain to the right you can see the Cristo statue. We stood there in the pouring rain in the morning - a real shame for the couples who took wedding photos there...and one man even proposed to his girlfriend there in front of all the tourists, kneeling down and showing an engagement ring and so on...soaking wet, but happy :-)

Zurück von einer tollen Reise nach Südamerika möchte ich einen wundervollen Moment mit euch teilen!
Das Foto zeigt eine wunderschöne Aussicht vom Zuckerhut auf Rio de Janeiro oder besser auf das, was man durch die Wolken davon sehen kann. Nachdem es morgens in Strömen geregnet hatte, bei durchgehender Wolkendecke, konnten wir nicht damit rechnen, dass wir noch so ein Schauspiel geboten bekommen würden. Von unten war die Spitze des Zuckerhuts komplett in Wolken gehüllt gewesen. So war es umso schöner, mit der Seilbahn durch die Wolken zu fahren und diese herrliche Aussicht zu genießen. Gegenüber auf dem Berg rechts könnt ihr die Cristo Statue sehen. Dort sind wir morgens in strömendem Regen gestanden - sehr schade auch für die Paare, die dort Hochzeitsfotos gemacht haben...und ein Mann hat dort sogar vor allen Touristen seiner Freundin einen Hochzeitsantrag gemacht, so mit Hinknien und Verlobungsring und so...klatschnass, aber glücklich :-)

My previous version didn\'t satisfy me completely because the characters were too static, in melee combat and you were not able to notice detail quite well...
Moreover, enderkaiser has pointed out to me that the armor of Ezekyle Abaddon did not match pre heresy period. So I decided to rebuild completely the scene, creating a wider and irregular base, full of debris and rubble, more like a battlefield.
Characters are now more dynamic and it seems that Abaddon attacks with a stroke of the sword his opponent! The other character, who I modified by adding a dark red cloak, even if it isn\'t the right color (and is wearing a black helmet), could remember his opponent Garviel Loken.
This time I took inspiration directly from the miniatures of the Horus Heresy (Forge World), looking at this www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-IT/Abaddon-and-Loken.
Female Grass Snake (Natrix helvetica). Our largest snake, the grass snake, is particularly fond of wetland habitats, but can also be found in dry grasslands and in gardens, especially those with a pond nearby.
During the summer, grass snake can be spotted basking in the sun near their favourite ponds or swimming in the water.
They hunt amphibians, fish, small mammals and birds. Females lay 10 to 40 eggs in rotting vegetation, such as compost heaps, incubating them until they hatch in early Autumn. Like all reptiles, grass snake hibernate, usually from October to April.
The British population of grass snake belongs to the distinct subspecies Natrix natrix helvetica, but new research published in August 2017 proposed that it should be elevated to full species status, with the name barred grass snake, Natrix helvetica.

It was not easy to pose under the rain of that cold evening, so I have to greatly thank my supermodel for her collaboration on this photograph. This pub is the most famous in the city and has been there since 1870, but I have never seen a photograph like this of this mythical place of Dublin.

Nada mejor que inmortalizar este lugar tan dublinés bajo la lluvia al caer la noche. Aunque no lo parezca había bastante gente pasando por este lugar tan conocido, pero he conseguido la fotografía que deseaba con varias tomas y un poco de habilidad a la hora de mezclarlas y eliminar a gente. No era fácil posar bajo la lluvia de esa fría noche, así que tengo que agradecer enormemente a mi supermodelo su colaboración en este fotografía. Miami Gardens is a city located in north-central Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is 16 miles north of Downtown Miami and its boundaries stretch from I-95 and NE 2nd Avenue on the east, to NW 47th and NW 57th Avenues on the west, and from the Broward County line on the north, to 151st Street on the south. The city name comes from one of the major roadways through the area, Miami Gardens Drive.
According to the 2019 estimate from the US Census Bureau, the city had a population of 110,001, and it is the largest city in Florida that has a majority African American population. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people in 2015.
In the wake of the construction of I-95 in the late 1960s, many middle- and upper-income African American and West Indian American families migrated from Miami neighborhoods like Liberty City to what became Miami Gardens (also called Carol City, Norland or Norwood) as race-based covenants were outlawed with the Fair Housing Act, and mostly lower income blacks moved into the Liberty City and Little Haiti neighborhoods surrounding Liberty Square and Edison Courts.
Miami Gardens was incorporated on May 13, 2003. The city's neighborhoods of Andover, Bunche Park, Carol City, Lake Lucerne, Norland, Opa-locka North, and Scott Lake were previously unincorporated areas within Miami-Dade County.
In 2007, Mayor Shirley Gibson said that the city would no longer allow any low-income housing developments; many residents blamed the developments for spreading crime and recreational drugs throughout the city. Around that time, the city's tax revenues dropped to the third-lowest in Miami-Dade County.
In 2012, Oliver Gilbert, only the second mayor the city has had, proposed forming a community redevelopment agency (CRA). CRAs are formed to remove "slum and blight", to improve the physical environment of the city and to combat the social and economic problems typical of slum areas. CRAs are funded with property tax increases, which funds are used, in part, to stimulate private investment in the rehabilitation of the community.

This same Mushroom has appeared in photographs immediately before these on Flickr. These two images have a link below to Selva Pascuala a prehistoric archaeological site in Spain that has fungoid rock art on the cave walls. This Mushroom on Wallace’s Cave in Scotland in not prehistoric, nor of the psychotropic variety proposed depicted in Spain. One rather base link might be the growing medium. Is the breath of visitors enough to provide the material on the cave to support growth of such a large mushroom? There are prehistoric carvings near The Wallace Cave and it has me wondering on modern and ancient fungiculture that relies on a substrate to feed the growth. Maybe cave paintings display the nomadic seasonal hunt and the potential to cultivate from wild beast and wild growths through tended patches a harvest off the right animal dung that would host the correct fungi?
It seems very likely that hunter gatherers would see growths on dung and degenerating wood and see the potential for collecting the correct medium to continue mycelium and such root like structures to have harvestable growths close to hand. The current Mushroom as seen in the photographs I do not propose as a Prehistoric continuation. I just think of past and contemporary cave users providing breath and other fungi food and maybe here in Wallace’s Cave that hosts a renewed and redressed bed of rushes that someone may also be tending this wonderful growth rooted upon fertile medium in a crack in the cave. The white budding fungi spheroids seem to show a near water fall of growth in the well shaded semi dark of the small cave.
Much less visited than Rosslyn Chapel on the opposite Western Bank of The North Esk river you will find The Wallace Cave. There are several Wallace Caves in Scotland. There is only one Wallace Cave in Roslin Glen. There are also caves under Hawthornden Castle. If you are going to Rosslyn Chapel I hope that you have a great visit and if you have a chance do walk in the Roslin Glen. The Castle and the Chapel retain the older name of Rosslyn and the contemporary village has the newer name of Roslin.
In the pictures uploaded to Flickr immediately before these two those two both the Focused and Focusless Fabulous Fungi a Miraculous Magical Mushroom were a joint effort. I managed in Manual Focus to capture an impressionistic rendering and a photographic view of the same rather large mushroom. My lighting expert is not on Flickr so I cannot link them locally and I do not have permission to link them further afield. He is a great companion to share a historically important cave with. Our focus on photography led us to moths and small gnats and large spiders with varying fungi and moss and lichen. The clean air just 8 miles from Edinburgh enables some fantastic growths that increase in quantity and size as you move further away from the city into more vibrant landscapes that support such greater growth. The size and vitality of the Mushroom was so unexpected that I have labelled it fabulous, miraculous and magical as it certainly appeared that way being the only such branching out extended growth from the rock face with roots nestled in a shallow crack.
The cave shows many pick marks from it having being extended and masoned sections where door and fittings have been fitted and broken away. The valley side opposite Rosslyn Chapel and Castle has a path way and viewing platforms cut into the cliff sides. The cave itself is not too large and the Mushroom as focus of attention and camera here looks quite unlikely to be natural and also at the same time possible so. It does appear like something brought in affixed and maybe even tended. There is a bed of rushes in the cave, changed annually and often dressed into the form of a sleeping figure. This Both Focused and Focusless Fabulous Fungi a Miraculous Magical Mushroom that proudly proclaims itself present and potent whilst discreetly declining any casual further investigation beyond speculation such as I have delivered here.
There is a legend of a Black Hen, don’t say Pullet, that is noted as confusing treasure seekers and grail hunters by digging holes to false terrain the site and to fill in half dug holes for when seekers return to complete their excavations and further still through special skill to carefully indicate the better and best grounds to explore through careful talon and beak soil manipulation. There are further tails of either this Black Hen, or of another such similar still don’t say Pullet, Black Hen, maybe there is just the one, or possibly there are a pair of magical soil shrouders at work? The other hen story relates to a treasure hidden under a stair. The exact stair can be correctly deduced in a manner not fully revealed within the story. Any stair testing and excavating can and will lead to the Black Hen II, this time the truth will not out*, moving the treasure when the excavators are in the right area and also the hen will bamboozle the grail hunters with special Holy Hen Acts that will confuse, strain, enrage and bring chaos to order and the ‘BH II’ wonder guard will clear up after the said chaos and restore all to proper order til the right, maybe even righteous, approach of the mythic legendary treasure grail hunter seekers who are destined to step on the right step at the right time in the right manner possibly with the left foot.
Please only read good humour and faithful following in my words above. I have followed signs to Rosslyn Chapel and parked when there were just a few spaces next to the old barn and byre. I have wandered in the beauty of the landscape and listened to the stories and here share some quickly to say that this is a place of beauty and of mystery, both of folly and of faith with a river bend bringing out rock inscribed from thousands of years ago to natural and extended caves, with castles and chapels, formerly and currently hosting services and battles til a part of the past seems to have been deeply woven here such that we choose to look at it again and again making pilgrimage and enacting rampage all engaged through marvellous mysteries and eldritch histories far beyond our fascination and into our fine fashioned fulgent fabricated fantasies.**
*Black Hen I also assured that the truth would not out, Black Hen II is not a fully fledged sequel as of course it could be one Hen, not a Pullet, successfully stealth working both grounds and stairs.
**Please do not test the Hen, or Hens, not Pullets, as you could be destroying a beautiful and historial protected place that is best left none Hen tested and none destroyed. Age, atmosphere and our antecedents have done more than enough destruction and also they had with them those that fought to give enough preservation and conservation too.

For this week we propose the oil on canvas painting "Untitled 1913" of the Portuguese painter Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (1887–1918) .
Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (1887–1918) was a Portuguese painter, belonged to the first generation of Portuguese modernist painters.
His painting is openly articulated with the avant-garde movements of the beginning of the 20th century, such as cubism, futurism or expressionism.
The Floating Island propose une expérience unique sur les canaux proches du Snaggaardbrug. À travers cette construction, le bureau d’architecture coréen OBBA veut créer un espace public supplémentaire au cœur de Bruges. En collaboration avec le cabinet d’architectes brugeois Dertien12, OBBA a conçu une plateforme flottante de plus de 100 mètres carrés. L’installation est entourée d’îlots de verdure et accessible au public. Vous pouvez flâner le long de la rive et même faire une pause pour apprécier pleinement l’environnement ; des filets élastiques, qui font aussi office de garde-corps, servent de hamacs ou de canapés légèrement inclinés au-dessus de l’eau. Avec ce projet, OBBA estompe la limite entre la rue et les canaux. L’île flottante rompt le côté rectiligne et vertical de la rive en proposant une transition fluide vers une voie d’eau praticable.
The Floating Island offers a unique experience on the nearby Snaggaardbrug canals. Through this construction, the Korean architecture office OBBA wants to create an additional public space in the heart of Bruges. In collaboration with the Bruges architectural firm Dertien12, OBBA has designed a floating platform of more than 100 square meters. The facility is surrounded by islands of greenery and accessible to the public. You can stroll along the shore and even take a break to fully appreciate the environment; elastic nets, which also serve as guardrails, serve as hammocks or sofas slightly inclined above the water. With this project, OBBA blurs the line between the street and the canals. The floating island breaks the rectilinear and vertical side of the shore by providing a smooth transition to a passable waterway.
It was a dark and stormy day.
One minute, it was a mottled, ho-hum cloudy kind of day. The kind you hate. The kind that makes you wish it was a few hours earlier or later; the better for the weather to start throwing a temper tantrum, or something. So it was going at the Bug Ranch in Conway, Texas, on Route 66.
Well, I wasn't paying attention. Suddenly I noted that the sky had turned, not black, but into a sheer opaque beige wall of dust and grime advancing on me which completely obscured the buildings and highway I had been fretting about in the foreground of my proposed shots. The wind rose, the temperature dropped, and the hair stood up on the back of my neck. I ran for the car, and found shelter just as a crescendo of wind and sound and spitting rain started keening around me.
Fifteen minutes later it was gone, but it left lasting damage on I-40 going east: a five or six hour delay cleaning up a massive four-semi accident, where at least one trucker lost their life and several others were injured.
As promised, I'm starting the year 2025 with a first photo of my road trip in the American West that symbolizes the series that I'm going to offer you. I hope you like it, in any case I'm happy to share it with you.
Forrest Gump Point is a viewpoint located on US-163 in Utah a few minutes from the legendary Monument Valley.
This viewpoint was immortalized thanks to Robert Zemeckis' iconic film, Forrest Gump. In the film, Forrest Gump played by the brilliant Tom Hanks stopped running near the 13th marker on US-163. In memory of the famous running scene from Forrest Gump, you can see a sign with the words "Forrest Gump finished his run at this point, 1980".
This place is very dangerous because many people position themselves in the middle of the road to take their photo while avoiding the many cars that take this road to reach Monument Valley. Impossible to take a long exposure in these conditions ;-)

Le Forrest Gump point est un point de vue situé sur l'US-163 en Utah à quelques minutes du mythique Monument Valley.

Helsingborg (Swedish pronunciation: [hɛlsɪŋˈbɔrj]; spelled Hälsingborg between 1912 and 1970) is a town and the seat of Helsingborg Municipality, Scania, Sweden. It had 140,547 inhabitants in 2016. Helsingborg is the centre of the northern part of western Scania. There is no formal metropolitan area, but the municipality of Helsingborg City and its neighbouring five municipalities (within Scania) had in spring of 2013 a population of 269 489 inhabitants at an area of 1,353 square kilometres (522.396 square miles), a population density of 200 people/km2. This makes Helsingborg the fourth largest population area in Sweden. The city is also Sweden's closest point to Denmark, with the Danish city Helsingør clearly visible on the other side of the Øresund about 4 km (2 mi) to the west, closer than to the city's own remoter areas. If including all population around the northern part of Øresund, as a Helsingborg-Helsingør metropolitan area, its population increases to 732 450 at an area of 2,802 square kilometres (1,081.858 square miles). The busy ferry route, known as the HH Ferry route has through history been operated by several shipping lines. As of 2014 more than 70 car ferries departures from each harbour every day.
Following the Swedish orthography reform of 1906 many place names in Sweden got a modernized spelling. In 1912 it was decided to use the form Hälsingborg. In preparation for the local government reform. In 1971 the Hälsingborg city council proposed that the new, enlarged municipality should be spelled with an "e". This was also the decision of the Government of Sweden, effective from 1 January 1971.
Historic Helsingborg, with its many old buildings, is a scenic coastal city. The buildings are a blend of old-style stone-built churches and a 600-year-old medieval fortress (Kärnan) in the city centre, and more modern commercial buildings. The streets vary from wide avenues to small alley-ways. Kullagatan, the main pedestrian shopping street in the city, was the first pedestrian shopping street in Sweden.
Helsingborg is one of the oldest cities of what is now Sweden. It has been the site of permanent settlement officially since 21 May 1085. Helsingborg's geographical position at the narrowest part of Øresund made it very important for Denmark, at that time controlling both sides of that strait. From 1429 Eric of Pomerania introduced the Øresundstolden (the Sound Dues), a levy on all trading vessels passing through the sound between Elsinore and Helsingborg. This was one of the main incomes for the Danish Crown. Crossing traffic, like fishermen, was not subject to the tax, which was initially directed against the Hanseatic League.
The Sound Dues helped Helsingør to flourish, and some of it spilled over to Helsingborg. The northern narrow inlet to Øresund with its relatively high coastlines made impression on many mariners, and when Kronborg during the Renaissance was rebuilt from a fortress to a Palace the area got famous. Evidence of this is William Shakespeare's Hamlet, which unfolds at Kronborg; the titular Prince of Denmark may well have hidden himself from his uncle in Helsingborg. The era of the Renaissance helped the Kingdom of Denmark, but towards the middle of the 17th century, the situation worsened.
Following the Dano-Swedish War (1657-1658) and the Treaty of Roskilde Denmark had to give up all territory on the southern Scandinavian peninsula, and Helsingborg became submitted to new rulers. King Charles X Gustav of Sweden landed here on 5 March 1658 to take personal possession of the Scanian lands and was met by a delegation led by the bishop of the Diocese of Lund, Peder Winstrup. At that time the town had a population of barely 1,000 people. He soon attempted to erase Denmark totally from the map, by attacking Copenhagen but failed (Treaty of Copenhagen (1660)), and died in Gothenburg soon afterwards. Not much changed for some 15 years, but when Charles XI was declared of age, the new king indeed was unsatisfied with his former rulers[clarification needed] (known as "Förmyndarräfsten" in Swedish history).
Its situation on a conflict-ridden border caused problems for Helsingborg. Denmark recaptured Scania twice, but could not hold it. The last Danish attempt to regain Scania was in 1710, when 14,000 men landed on the shores near Helsingborg. The Battle of Helsingborg was fought on the 28th of February just outside the city, which was badly affected. It took a long time to recover; even in 1770 the city had only 1,321 inhabitants and was still growing slowly.
On 20 October 1811 Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, Marshal of France and crown prince-elect of Sweden (later king Charles XIV John) took his first step on Swedish soil in Helsingborg on his journey from Paris to Stockholm.
From the middle of the 19th century onwards, however, Helsingborg was one of the fastest growing cities of Sweden, increasing its population from 4,000 in 1850 to 20,000 in 1890 and 56,000 in 1930 due to industrialization. From 1892 a train ferry was put in service, connecting Helsingborg with its Danish sister city Helsingør. A tramway network was inaugurated in 1903 and closed down in 1967.

Tidnish Bridge is a community on the interprovincial border with New Brunswick on the Tidnish River. Tidnish Bridge is home to the Chignecto Ship Railway Keystone Bridge and would have been the Baie Verte terminus.
The Chignecto Ship Railway was a historic Canadian portage railway.
With Canadian Confederation in 1867, a variety of canal-building projects were undertaken throughout the new country by the new federal government, including renewed interest in a canal that could transit the isthmus at Chignecto. The Chignecto Ship Railway project was first proposed in 1875 as a means to transport ships across the Isthmus of Chignecto, shortening the sailing distance between the Bay of Fundy and the Gulf of St. Lawrence by avoiding the necessity of sailing 930 kilometers (500 nautical miles) around Nova Scotia. A canal had been proposed for the isthmus but financing was proving difficult to secure. In 1882 the Chignecto Marine Transport Railway Company was incorporated as a federally chartered railway.
The ship railway was designed to carry vessels weighing up to 2000 tons with a proposed transit time of 2.5 hours. Ships would be carried on a cradle forming an extremely wide rail car that straddled parallel twin railway tracks, separated by 5.5 meters (18 ft) to the centre of each track.
By August 1891 work on the ship railway ground to a halt and would never restart.
A proposal to close a portion of this park placed it on the list of 48 California state parks proposed for closure in January 2008 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as part of a deficit reduction program. The decision was rescinded following public outcry.

With help from the folks at the Midland Railway in Baldwin City, KS, Dalton Boggs proposed to his girlfriend Miranda Mai this past Sunday, April 26, 2020. The whole deal was arranged as a photo charter, and during this specific run-by at "Nowhere" (Norwood, KS), Allen Kinsley, Midland's Director of Railroad Operations, tossed the ring to Dalton as he then popped the question to Miranda.
This is at Norwood, KS on the Midland Railway Main. The power for the train is the only remaining MKT "Katy" RS3M.
Dalton has been a volunteer at Midland for several years, and he currently works as a Locomotive Engineer for the KYLE Railroad in Goodland, KS. His Flickr page can be viewed here: flickr.com/photos/dalton17 4/26/20.
MDDE 1203 makes a quick turn back to Federalsburg, MD with 8 boxcars in tow from the DCR interchange at Seaford, DE. In short order the cars will be spotted at Dart Container for unloading. While Maryland & Delaware is not known for high-speed running, this pan shot across a farm field south of Federalsburg gives the impression of speed.
Not long after this visit it was announced that the parent company of Maryland & Delaware is getting out of the railroad business. It appears that Carload Express (Delmarva Central) will be taking over operations of all state-owned trackage operated by MDDE, plus a portion of the Snow Hill Line (the only line owned outright by MDDE). This is proposed to take effect in mid-October. Only time will tell what the future holds, but chances are this RS-3M's days are numbered.

Well – another piece of the jigsaw has fallen into place! Sir Charles Dexter has proposed to my (soon-to-be-ex) husband, and he has accepted - provisional only on the completion of our divorce and his sexual reassignment.
My hubby will marry Sir Charles as plain Miss Lulu Lyndon, but after the wedding will be known Lady Lucille Dexter. It is fully understood that Lulu will continue her career as an escort, cocotte and courtesan - and Sir Charles is also very keen to share access to his lovely bride with his best friends and colleagues Sir Henry Cobham and Sir Harry Rakefield. In fact, I believe the plan is that they will all four go on honeymoon together, as a very loving 'ménage à quatre'.
Meanwhile, my own wedding plans draw on apace. As my ex-husband will also be my chief bridesmaid, I am considering wearing the same dress I wore for my wedding to Lord Lyndon back in 2014. This seems like a good plan from several points of view – completing the circle, and emphasizing the very different role that Lulu/Prudence will be playing at this second marriage ceremony, eight years down the line.

Convolutions by EZ3kiel (FR)
Convolutions is an action to wrap itself within itself or around another body.
The project molds the architectural facade of the National Museum of Singapore. It choreographs every part of the museum in a poetic ballet borrowed from technology where ancient and modern co-exist in great harmony. It proposes a new and contemporary look on the art of mapping by relying on a very precise use of the art of light and laser. The music composed by the French group EZ3kiel comes to illustrate, in a most precise way, the work of the images.
This installation contains strobe and flashing lights. Please exercise caution.
About the artist
Yann Nguema moved into artistic work in 1998 when he obtained a higher national diploma in visual arts with honors. The musician founded the EZ3kiel group in 1992 for which he developed an entire burgeoning visual production, which is now a reference in the industry.
He first gained recognition for his graphic work which has a very personal and poetic feel. He was tasked with the visual direction of the festival Transmusicales of Rennes from 2007 to 2011. His work focuses primarily around the performing arts, with constant research around the music and imagery.
He also introduced an interactive dimension into his creative process and productions by developing his own software. In 2009, he designed an exhibition The Poetic Mechanicals composing of 10 interactive machines combining technology and patrimony. It was displayed at the Palace of Discovery (in Paris, and at the Universal Exhibition in Shanghai. Yann designs many unique interactive installations which uses technology, research and poetry.
He is currently an ambassador artist for the Festival of Lights in Lyon.

A pretty intense bus consultation was released recently, involving a number of central london bus routes proposed for a number of different changes.
One of the proposed changes includes Route 43, which would be withdrawn between London Bridge and Moorgate, and rerouted to Liverpool Street Bus Station to terminate. I had a feeling something similar like this would be proposed for the 43 in the near future.
This would put a lot more pressure on Routes 21 & 141 which are already busy routes, so this wouldn't be a great idea, plus route 153 now covers the Moorgate - Liverpool Street link so I don't think any other routes need to cover it with the exception of Route 214, which should be extended back.
The Menindee Lakes is a natural series of lakes that fill with water when the Darling-Baaka River floods. In the 1960s, a series of engineering projects augmented the Menindee Lakes, allowing water to be directed into the lakes and held back or released. This ensured a reliable water supply for the city of Broken Hill, the township of Menindee and secure supply of water for the Lower Darling River and supply to South Australia.
The Menindee Lakes system provides important habitat, nursery and recruitment for native fish, such as the Murray Cod and Golden Perch. It is important habitat for a huge variety of native and migratory bird species. The Menindee Lakes system is vital to the communities of the Far West, providing recreation and amenity, as well as attracting tourism, recreational fishing, horticulture and viticulture.
The Darling-Baaka River is central to the cultural, spiritual and economic lives of the Barkindji people.
The health of the Menindee Lakes and the Darling-Baaka River are intimately linked. The lakes fill from the Darling-Baaka River and water stored in the Menindee Lakes keeps the Lower Darling flowing during dry times. The Great Darling Anabranch is a series of ephemeral creeks, billabongs and lakes that wind their way to the Murray River to the west of the main Darling-Baaka River Channel.
Irrigation expands:
There has been a rapid expansion of irrigation along the rivers in the Northern Basin of the Murray Darling Basin, particularly cotton. Irrigation of cotton has expanded by 4,000% since the 1970s. In 1971 Australia grew 81,000 bales of cotton. By 2012 Australia grew 5.3 million bales. Irrigation dams - Wee Waa
Much of the cotton is grown along the rivers of the Murray Darling in very large irrigation enterprises, with most of the cotton grown on tributaries of the Darling-Baaka River.
Large private storages were built to hold water and other structures were built to capture flood waters. Water licences and water sharing plans allow irrigators to suck huge quantities from the tributaries of the Darling-Baaka even when flows are modest.
The result has been that low and medium flows have virtually stopped flowing down the Darling-Baaka River. Only the largest floods that cannot be captured upstream, or specially protected environmental flows, now make it down to the Menindee Lakes and Lower Darling-Baaka River.
An easy target?
After the Millennium Drought exposed just how over-allocated the river systems of the Murray-Darling Basin were, the Murray-Darling Basin Plan was agreed between the Commonwealth and the states. The Plan aimed to make the Murray-Darling Basin system more sustainable by returning more water to the rivers through buying back water licences and other measures to recover water for the environment.
Menindee Slogan Bus:
The irrigation industry views the water flowing into the Menindee Lakes as wasteful and unproductive (not growing crops). They would prefer water to be taken from the Menindee Lakes to meet the targets under the Basin Plan rather than for the irrigation industry to be compelled to use less water. The industry points to the volume of water that evaporates from the Menindee Lakes each year as a key reason to reduce the amount of water flowing into and being stored in the lakes. The amount of water that evaporates from shallow private storages in equally hot and dry climates is rarely mentioned.
Scientists and environmentalists view the water that flows down our rivers, fills wetland and billabongs, and spills over floodplains as highly productive for nature and vital for sustaining complex ecosystems that have evolved over eons. These flows are also vital for replenishing underground aquifers and for sustaining downstream communities and Indigenous cultures.
Some politicians view the Menindee Lakes as an easy target. The population around Menindee is sparse, without much economic or political clout. The birds, fish and wildlife can not vote, lobby or protest. Taking water from the Menindee Lakes system is seen as politically easier than seeking to recover water from loud, well-connected and politically savvy irrigators. The location of the Menindee Lakes in a remote part of NSW that is out of sight and out of mind for many citizens located on the eastern seaboard also makes it hard for the issue to gain political traction.
A plan to decommission the Menindee Lakes:
After the Menindee Lakes filled from a major flood event in Queensland and NSW 2012, they were rapidly emptied by the Murray Darling Basin Authority and the NSW Government. Usually the lakes would hold water for many years after they filled, but by 2014 they were emptied. As a consequence, Broken Hill was in danger of running out of water and the government announced a plan to drill bores to supply the city with low-quality bore water. Locals were outraged at this plan and were concerned that the Menindee Lakes had been deliberately drained so quickly as part of a plan to justify the decommissioning of the lakes.RIP Menindee Lakes
Another flood filled the Menindee Lakes in late 2016, but again they were rapidly drained, almost inexplicably into a flooding river. By then end of 2017 they were again dry just as drought started to bite and Broken Hill was facing another artificial water shortage.
Flush with cash from privatising the electricity networks, the NSW Government spent $500 million building a 270 kilometres water pipeline from the Murray River at Wentworth to Broken Hill. This ended the city’s reliance on the Darling-Baaka River and Menindee Lakes for water supply. Cotton Australia applauded the construction of the pipeline saying in their Annual Report, "The pipeline is a win for the community, the environment and irrigating farmers, and a solution Cotton Australia and its allies have long lobbied for." Meanwhile the local community was concerned that the pipeline would allow the NSW Government to decommission the Menindee Lakes without worrying about Broken Hill's water supply.
Sure enough, plans to reconfigure the Menindee Lakes are back on the table as a project to 'recover water from the environment' under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan's Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism. The NSW Government wants to save up to 100 gigalitres of water each year by reducing the volume water stored in Menindee Lakes by up to 80%. A range of proposals have been put forward for consultation.
The Darling River Action Group has labelled the plans as 'ecological genocide.' They strongly oppose the huge reduction in habitat that will occur if reconfiguration plans go ahead. They worry that changing the times between and length of inundation in the lakes will have a major impact on fish breeding and birdlife. Fish kills and dry rivers and lakes:
Fish Kill Menindee In the teeth severe drought, predictions of environmental catastrophe on the Darling River came true as millions of fish floated dead on the surface. Hot weather and a lack of flows led to a blue-green algae bloom that stripped the water of oxygen when it died, suffocating many millions of fish along a length of the Darling-Baaka River. Images of giant Murray Cod many decades old floating on the surface of a stagnant, bright green river shocked Australians. If water had been stored in the Menindee Lakes, a flow of water in the Darling-Baaka River could have been maintained and millions of fish and other creatures would have survived. It was noted that the very large mature Murray Cod that had died would have survived numerous previous droughts, so what had changed?
A report by the Australian Academy of Science concluded:
The conditions leading to this event are an interaction between a severe (but not unprecedented) drought and, more significantly, excess upstream diversion of water for irrigation. Prior releases of water from Menindee Lakes contributed to lack of local reserves.
A small flow in mid-2019 led to a partial revival of the Darling-Baaka River and water in the upper lakes of the Menindee Lakes system. However, the Menindee Lakes and Darling-Baaka River face three major threats:
1) The proposed re-configuration of the Menindee Lakes system;
2) The continuing overallocation of water extraction licences in the Northern Basin of the Murray-Darling system;
3) The extent and proposed licencing of floodplain harvesting, which is capturing huge quantities of water before it can even reach the waterways of the Darling-Baaka River.

Beta is a test preview of the change that is getting ready to be implemented soon. It can be for a limited group of flickr members, intended to seek feedback and correct faults ( if any), before it is made public.
Change is good and public has always welcomed good changes. The preference for Windows XP by most people even after the introduction of Vista is a classic example of public acceptance. The public liked and preferred the predecessor ( Windows XP ) and the follower ( Windows 7 and Windows 8 ) versions of Vista. A change is good and often gladly welcomed by public, if it provides more utilities and user friendliness, without depriving even a single advantage of the predecessor.
The Beta version is unacceptable to the majority of Flickr users* ( who happened to experience it ) , because it's not user friendly and has only disadvantages to mention. *Please check the Beta feedback : Completed / Top ideas / Hot ideas
The layout itself is a disaster. Please check : Try our new photo experience beta / Comment box
However they try, it's quite evident that it's impossible to provide more space for descriptions, comment box, and comments; not to mention comments with pictures , group invites / awards. The more they try to fix it, the more cumbersome it becomes. The buddy icons now appear as dots making the page more unaesthetic than what you see in the earlier pictures of beta . They are desperately trying to make it appealing and user friendly, which is literally impossible with the proposed layout .
It's a big challenge for the programmers to try find means to provide more space in a vertical column which is already cramped.

Route 262 is also another route that TFL are proposing to remove from Gallions Reach, according to 'excess capacity' meaning Route 366 will be all that's left to serve Gallions Reach.
Now while I'm on the fence about Route 101's proposal, I don't agree with this one. Out of both bus routes (101 & 262,) the 262 has more passengers, and more used buses between Beckton and Gallions Reach, plus it provides a faster alternative as it doesn't serve Cyprus Station so I would leave the 262 as it is.

The plan will outline how a multi-use pathway could connect the Lagoon Beach from the Lagoon Bridge to Royal Beach and inform future detailed design and construction of new waterfront landscaping, features and amenities, such as seating, signage, lighting and washrooms.

The Birmingham Main Line Canal as it heads away from Gas Street Basin, in the Westside of the city centre of Birmingham, West Midlands.
In 1767, several prominent Birmingham businessmen, including Matthew Boulton and others from the Lunar Society, held a public meeting to consider the possibility of building a canal from Birmingham to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal near Wolverhampton, taking in the coalfields of the Black Country. They commissioned the canal engineer James Brindley to propose a route. Brindley came back with a largely level route via Smethwick, Oldbury, Tipton, Bilston and Wolverhampton to Aldersley.
An Act of Parliament was passed to allow the building of the canal, with branches at Ocker Hill and Wednesbury where there were coal mines. The first phase of building was to Wednesbury whereupon the price of coal sold to domestic households in Birmingham halved overnight.
By 6 November 1769, 10 miles (16 km) had been completed to Hill Top collieries in West Bromwich, with a one-mile summit pound at Smethwick. Brindley had tried to dig a cutting through the hill at Smethwick but had encountered ground too soft to cope with.
On 21 September 1772, the canal was joined with the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Aldersley Junction, however Brindley died a few days later.
Over the next thirty years, as more canals and branches were built or connected it became necessary to review the long, winding, narrow Old Main Line. With a single towpath boats passing in opposite directions had to negotiate their horses and ropes.
In 1824 Thomas Telford was commissioned to examine alternatives. Telford proposed major changes to the section between Birmingham and Smethwick, widening and straightening the canal, providing towpaths on each side, and cutting through Smethwick Summit to bypass the locks, allowing lock-free passage from Birmingham to Tipton.
By 1827 the New Main Line passed straight through, and linked to, the loops of the Old Main Line, creating Oozells Loop, Icknield Port Loop, Soho Loop, Cape Loop and Soho Foundry Loop, allowing continued access to the existing factories and wharves.
A year earlier he had built an improved Rotton Park Reservoir (Edgbaston Reservoir) on the site of an existing fish pool, bringing its capacity to 300 million imperial gallons (1,400,000 m3). A canal feeder took water to, and along, a raised embankment on the south side of the New Main Line to his new Engine Arm branch canal and across an elegant cast iron aqueduct to top up the higher Wolverhampton Level at Smethwick Summit.
The Smethwick Summit was bypassed by 71 ft cutting through Lunar Society member, Samuel Galton's land, creating the Galton Valley, 70 feet deep and 150 feet wide, running parallel to the Old Main Line. Telford's changes here were completed in 1829.
By 1838 the New Main Line was complete: 22⅝ miles of slow canal reduced to 15⅝; between Birmingham and Tipton, a lock-free dual carriageway.

Kyoto Tower is an observation tower located in Kyoto, Japan. The steel tower is the tallest structure in Kyoto with its observation deck at 100 metres (328 ft) and its spire at 131 metres (430 ft).The 800-ton tower stands atop a 9-story building, which houses a 3-star hotel and several stores. The entire complex stands opposite Kyoto Station.
Kyoto Tower was proposed in the early 1960s, and it was planned to be constructed and completed in time to correspond with the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.[2] Construction began in 1963 on the former site of Kyoto's central post office and was completed near the end of 1964.[1] Unlike many other towers, such as Tokyo Tower that are constructed using metal lattice frames, Kyoto Tower's interior structure consists of many steel rings stacked on top of each other. The structure was then covered with lightweight steel sheets with a thickness between 12–22 mm (0.47–0.87 in). The sheets were then welded together and painted white. The intended overall effect was for the tower to resemble a Japanese candle.
Designed by Makoto Tanahashi, a doctor of engineering at Kyoto University, Kyoto Tower was built to withstand the forces of both earthquakes and typhoons. The head of the tower's business division, Tsuyoshi Tamura, claims it can withstand winds of up to 201 mph (90 m/s) and survive an earthquake of far greater magnitude than that of the Kobe or Tokyo earthquakes.
The tower was first opened to the public on December 28, 1964.[4] Within its first year of opening, 1 million people visited the tower's observation deck. Throughout the years, the tower's draw as a tourist attraction has diminished. By 1999, observation deck ticket sales dropped to less than 400,000 a year, or about 1,100 a day.

1953年、京都駅北側の土地に建っていた京都中央郵便局が移転することが決まり[* 1]、移転後の跡地の活用が検討されていた。またこの土地は国際文化観光都市たる京都の表玄関、京都駅の真正面に当たる物であり、それに相応しくまた公共性に富む土地活用が求められていた[2]。京都商工会議所主催の懇談会で株式会社物産観光センター（のちに株式会社京都産業観光センター）の設立が決まり、翌1959年4月11日、創立した。
当初は屋上に展望台などを作る程度は想定されていたものの、巨大なタワーを建てることができるとは考えられていなかった。だが検討の結果、建物の内部にあまり影響を与えずにタワーを建築できそうなことが分かり、山田守（建築家）の設計管理および京都大学工学部建築学教室棚橋諒教授の構造設計により建造されることとなった[5]。この際、単なる鉄骨による無骨なタワーでは京都の表玄関には相応しくないとして、白い円筒状の優雅なデザインが採用された[6]。建築には日本で初めて、炭酸ガス半自動溶接機が大々的に使用されたという[7]。
1963年2月7日の地鎮祭後、建物は1963年8月13日に立柱式、1964年8月31日に開館。タワーは1964年2月3日に立柱式、12月28日の開業であった。
その構造は、鉄骨を一切使わず、厚さ 12mm - 22mm の特殊鋼板シリンダーを溶接で繋ぎ合わせ、円筒型の塔身を作ったもの（モノコック構造）[10][11]となっており、タワー外部に仮設タワーとクレーンを設け引き上げを行った[12]。工期は約1年10カ月、総工費は38億6400万円であった[13]。
タワーの姿は、市内の町家の瓦葺きを波に見立て、海のない京都の街を照らす灯台をイメージしたものである[10]。なお、本来のイメージとは異なるが、近くに東本願寺があることから「お東さんのローソク」とも言われることがある[要出典]。
タワー上部の展望台からは、市内および周辺のほか天気の良い日には大阪府を望むこともできる[14]。また、展望台のさらに上部には放送局のサテライトテレビカメラが、かつて設置されており、このカメラから撮影された映像が折に触れてテレビ放送で使用されていた。現在は、カメラは設置されていない。
台座のビルにはホテルや名店街が入居するほか、地下3階には朝7時から営業している公衆浴場がある。また、展望台や名店街ではタワーに関するグッズなどの販売も行われている。
開業40周年を機に作成されたマスコットキャラクターが、2004年12月たわわちゃんとして正式に誕生。
2014年の開業50周年に向けたエレベーター改修工事や外壁の塗り直しのため、2012年12月2日の営業を最後に展望室や台座のビルにあるレストランなどが2013年3月まで休業し、4月1日からリニューアルオープンしている。なお、このリニューアルを機に、レストランは喫茶・軽食も提供するラウンジに営業形態を変更した。。なお工事期間中も、ホテルや土産店の営業は続けられていた。

The Banggai cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni) is a small tropical cardinalfish in the family Apogonidae. It is the only member of its genus.[2] This attractive fish is popular in the aquarium trade. It is among the relatively few marine fish to have been bred regularly in captivity, but significant numbers are still captured in the wild and it is now an endangered species.
This species is restricted to the Banggai Islands of Indonesia.[3] This species has an extremely limited geographic range (5,500 km²) and small total population size (estimated at 2.4 million).[4] The Banggai cardinalfish is composed of isolated populations concentrated around the shallows of 17 large and 10 small islands within the Banggai Archipelago. A small population also occurs off Central Sulawesi, within Luwuk harbor. One additional population has become established in the Lembeh Strait (North Sulawesi), 400 km north of the natural area of the species distribution, following introduction by aquarium fish traders in 2000.[4] Small populations seen (May 2014) in Secret Bay, north west Bali.
Collection for the aquarium trade has threatened this species with extinction.[3] This increases the demand for captive-bred specimens. It is listed as an endangered species by the IUCN based on its small range, the fragmentation of its distribution, and its continuing decline due to exploitation for the international aquarium trade.[1] In 2007, the species was proposed to be listed for protection under CITES Appendix II, which could limit export of wild-caught individuals, but Indonesia would not support this, and the proposal was withdrawn.
