Established in 1924, Chiricahua National Monument is located in the Chiricahua Mountains near Willcox, Arizona, and contains a significant number of hoodoos, balancing rocks, rock formations, and rich natural habitats. The landscape within the monument was created by a volcanic eruption at Turkey Creek Caldera 27 million years ago, which deposited ash that formed into rhyolitic tuff, which eroded over the eons into the rock formations seen today. The monument was expanded in 1938 to encompass additional portions of the Chiricahua Mountains, and today, contains preserved natural habitats for many species of desert flora and fauna, trails that allow visitors to traverse the rock formations and mountains within the monument, and the historic Faraway Ranch, built in 1887 by Swedish immigrants Neil Erickson and Emma Sophia Peterson at the bottom of Bonita Canyon, located at the entrance to the monument. Chiricahua National Monument today sees approximately 60,000 visitors, and has been the subject of several proposals to re-designate it as a National Park.
Hiked up to the top of the mountain. Met some girls who were setting up a marriage proposal for their brother to ask his girlfriend.
The image of the couple, Adam and Caleigh, was taken outside of the school and cropped using the magnetic lasso tool. The eraser was used to finish up the cropping and then the edges were softened using blur. A background was obtained via the internet and pasted as a new layer. This layer was then transformed and obscured to match the angle of the subjects. The burn tool was used to create shadow, and finally, the text tool formed the writing.

Word of the Week
I asked an actress, Caleigh, for her services in acquiring a photo for the word of the week assignment. She agreed and I started drawing out possible poses. The next A day, after school, she and her boyfriend, Adam, allowed me to position them according to my sketches. After the photographs were taken, the behind-subject photograph was chosen and loaded onto the computer. I then followed the Photoshop process listed above. The final project was uploaded to Flickr.
I'm happy with the finished product, in that my sketch and my vision of what sort of image i wanted to portray through the word Propose was fulfilled. I would have edited the lighting a bit more, but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

The world around Europe is changing fast. Geopolitical shifts are challenging the international order, Russia’s war in Ukraine has upset the European security architecture. And old alliances are no longer as reliable. Faced with these challenges Europe needs to step up. But are EU decision-making mechanisms fit for purpose? The current modus operandi mostly requires consensus among the 27 Member States resulting in a slow response rate. Recent crises have thus revived calls for a “European Security Council”, an idea that has been prominently advanced by European Commissioner Kubilius. At the same time, MEP Sergey Lagodinsky has put forward a detailed institutional proposal outlining legal pathways, governance models, and safeguards for democratic legitimacy. Watch the recording of our panel discussion with EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius, MEP Sergey Lagodinsky, Dr. Rosa Balfour (Carnegie Europe) and Dr. Katharina Emschermann (Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung EU | Global Dialogue).
