This is just part of the historic Proper School in Orion Township. It was built in 1927 and originally was named after President Calvin Coolidge. However, the community, which was mostly of Democratic affiliation, was outraged at an action by the President. The school was renamed Proper School in honor of John and Charlotte Proper who had first settled the area in the 1840's. Here is a link that will show what the original Coolidge School marker looks like: www.orion.lib.mi.us/gingellville/history.html

Here's evidence of my very first proper attempt at using a sparkler to 'paint with light'. I went for basic circles to start with but went mad and kept flicking it around when I jumped out of the shot.
People make it look so easy but it took many attempts to get the settings right and now I need to learn how to actually work with the sparkler to create things! Then next time I need to introduce people in to the photo..
