project linus quilt donated at Does camp

I projected different artworks and images including my own work onto my maquette to create some interesting pieces of work. I used the projector to change the focus in some of these pieces, giving the shapes in the maquette a stronger contrast.

The end of an era.

We've been coming to quiz night here at The Pub on The Terrace for a few years now. Tonight the quizmaster told us that The Pub has been sold and will be closing on Friday. Next week will be at The Five Stags. Each team was given an invitation to The Five Stags quiz night - the invitations were $50 bar tabs!

The guy giving us the thumbs up is Cam, the quizmaster.

Project Runway is a competiion run by the Tauranga City Council social club. Each group within council has a team who put these marvellous outfits together after spending a week or so delving into various rubbish tins around the building!! The garments & accessories are all made out of rubbish [trash]. The staff get to vote tomorrow to pick a winner. Votes cost a dollar with all proceeds going to the Christchurch earthquake appeal.

Since the initial earthquake in Christchurch in the early hours of Saturday 4th September, there have been over 500 aftershocks - check out this website www.christchurchquakemap.co.nz/

Project 365+1 2008 May 21 142/366

I toured the Alexander Graham Bell Historic Site today. It is near the place where he had a home in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. He tinkered with many things in addition to inventing the telephone. This contraption relates to his research on flight.

Hartlepool College of Further Education has a long established history of producing the best in Engineering students supporting the industry on a local and national level – and the standards of the students continues to improve.

Here are photos of just some of the 100+ Projects on display during the event,

This week I'm visiting out of state at my daughter's house (waiting for her baby to arrive) and I did not bring my sewing machine, so I knew if I was going to participate in the Project Quilting Challenge, it would have to be a project that I could make by hand. I decided to go with 1.5" Yoyos (made with the Large size Clover Yoyo maker). I used black and white scraps with just a touch of lime green that we found at a local fabric shop. I made flower shapes, and then arranged them into a diamond shape for a nice sized candle mat/table runner (20.75" x 13.75"). My daughter had a lime green candle so we called it Lime Lite :)

This time I created my project in Stafford VA

Multiplcity

If only I could multiply myself to finish all the work I have to accomplish before Monday...pretty busy week ahead...

Played with angles to take this shot. Luckily we have back to back mirrors at home.

Project 366-1 (2011) March 7, 2011 66/365

My husband purchased this set in college, shortly before he decided not

to major in Engineering. I like the elegance of this view of life before computers. (Correction: there were computers then and he put himself through college working on them, but they were mainframes and took up entire buildings. I don't think engineers were using them for drafting.)

So I changed my mind about my original project and started this lap quilt instead. What do you think? Do the tan blue and green sashings work? I'd love to hear what you think of the layout. I haven't quite decided yet I need to look at it some more before I am sure.

"I took this XL Men's System of a Down T-shirt that I picked up from Savers.

I've used a few different "cutting" methods to make this t-shirt figure hugging and even more ROCK! I've used elastic on the bust to create a gather- giving a little more shape.
