This is where I am at...think I need more pieces of larger flagstone for the outer edge and a bigger firepit!!

A close up of the view, from the office kitchen window, that captivated me and many of my colleague this lunchtime. A machine is 'nibbling' at the former Defence Building.

The U.S. Military Academy hosted Projects Day April 30, with fifteen USMA departments and students from four other colleges participating in over 250 presentations. Senior class members presented their senior thesis, capstone projects, or research activities in either an individual or collective capacity. Students presented to fellow cadets, faculty, clients, and, in some instances, to a group of guest evaluators. Highlights included capstone design projects, competition projects, thesis defenses, poster displays, various individual and group performances, film screenings, and presentations on various topics relevant to the Army and the world. Families experiencing homelessness have found a home thanks to Project Homekey on April 19, 2021. LA County purchased the 41-room former Travel Plaza Inn in Compton for about $6.5 million late 2020 to serve as the only Project Homekey site dedicated to serving families. The families began moving into the property on March 5th, and currently operated by HOPICS. (Photo by Los Angeles County)

More kaboom with the Triggersmart. I have some new pellets that smash the glass first time everytime so it's just a question of timing. It's also somewhat easier with two strobes now. I had my Nikon SB900 to the left and a Yongnuo to the right, both on manual at 1/128.

Eye Spy

A window from the first floor of Fort Yargo. Fort Yargo was built in 1793, near the town of Jug Tavern, now known as Winder (pronounced as in "wind the clock")

One of the hidden away ones... really need to drag this little bugger back out...

Project: Dark Winter

Location: Klooster Mariënhage

In her multi-disciplinary artistic practice, including installations, performances and sculptures, photographs and videos, Rebecca Belmore addresses the embodiment of meaning and sense in the interplay of physical presence and symbolic representation in contemporary societies. In her augmented materiality she evokes narrative dimensions which resonate as an outstanding time- and politics critical potential.

Eindhoven is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, it was granted its town charter in 1232. Almost a hundred years older and part of the early settlements of the city is the castle “Ten Hage”, what later was transformed into a convent.

Approaching the Mariënhage complex from the Tramstraat, Rebecca Belmore’s site- and time-specific intervention inhabits the garden next to the Paterskerk. By framing architectural remains with white pebbles and highlighting with bright white light and its reflections, she stages the environment in self-reference to its changes through history.

Although Project Cove is officially launched today, work has been underway for some time. Yesterday, 5 June 2011, saw multi agency raids on addresses in the area.

Project Cove, designed to target criminals in Harpurhey and Moston, is officially launched today, Wednesday, 8 June 2011.

Like Salford’s Project Gulf, Cove involves a wide variety of agencies working together to listen to community concerns and identify those individuals who are committing crime in the area.

The Project Cove team will investigate every aspect of a suspected criminal's life - including their business interests, benefits and associates. The information they gather is used to build an intelligence picture and identify illegal activity.

The organisations involved such as the Department of Work and Pensions, Trading Standards and housing associations such as Northwards Housing can then use their various powers to make it more difficult for these individuals to pursue their criminal lifestyle, such as revoking their licences and freezing their benefits or reviewing their tenancy.

Chief Superintendent Steve Heywood, Divisional Commander for North Manchester, said: "Project Cove follows on from the success of Project Gulf and our team is focused on using every tool available to fight crime and antisocial behaviour in Harpurhey and Moston.

”We recognise, along with the community that things need to improve and in order to do this we need to work together in different ways, putting enforcement at the forefront of this.

”Essentially this is our way of doing integrated neighbourhood management - but with ‘teeth’. Any sort of criminal or antisocial activity will not be tolerated and criminals could see their lives being made much more difficult as a result.

”Anyone with any concerns about criminal activity in the area can report it to police, Trading Standards or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Councillor Jim Battle, Manchester City Council's deputy leader, said: "We know that when the city council works closely with residents, the police, and other agencies, we make a massive difference to communities across Manchester.

"Project Cove is an excellent example of how we are continuing to use this approach. This long-running project will make life a lot tougher for criminals in Harpurhey and Moston - while making life much better for the area's residents."

"Project 7 is a single-seater sports car based on the F-TYPE, with the kind of racing-inspired form that designers dream about. It has one purpose: to be driven fast and enjoyed.Jaguar sports cars are known for exceptional performance and clean design. Project 7 captures that spirit in its purest form."

By the end of the century, sub-alpine meadows could shrink up to 27 percent at Mount Rainier National Park and disappear entirely at North Cascades National Park. To understand the effects of climate change on pollinators and protect our sub-alpine meadows, the Cascades Butterfly Project will be monitoring three sites in North Cascades National Park, two in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, and four in Mount Rainier National Park.

Les parapluies

This lollipop has been around.

This was supposed to illustrate a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to Bowie but ironically, I had to move the turntable away from my stereo to get away from shadows and reflections from the window and thus I couldn't actually listen to the record while shooting.

if you're interested, it's side A of David Bowie's "Low", the turntable is a Rega Planar 2 with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge.
