The theme of this project is "The Fruits of the Spirit," from the Bible verse Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV)

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

This verse refers to the spiritual gifts that a follower of Christ receives and develops over time. I chose the image of the cross for "Goodness", as I am reminded by it to sacrifice a "me first" attitude and put God and others first in the same way that Christ laid down his life to save me.

On the Joecustoms site we had a group customizing project that was called Project '84. The idea being that it is 1983 and we had to make new G.I. Joe and Cobra figures for 1984 and we could only use existing tooling (the first year Joe and Cobras) I went with Firefly here,

Some of Leicester’s favourite ex-players will team up on Friday (12th) to help launch two exciting new football facilities in the city. Steve Walsh, Muzzy Izzet and Alan ‘The Birch’ Birchenall will join youngsters at the playing fields at Mary Linwood and New College for the official openings of the two schemes.

Existing facilities at New College have been transformed and a brand new scheme has been created at Mary Linwood as part of the city’s £11.2 million football investment strategy – a multi-agency project launched last year to boost grassroots football in Leicester and encourage more people to take regular exercise. The project includes a £5 million grant from the Football Foundation – the body funded by the Premier League, The FA, the Government and Sport England.

Cllr Rob Wann, cabinet lead for culture & leisure, is delighted with the project’s progress: “This investment in our sporting infrastructure was urgently needed to upgrade Leicester’s facilities and get more people of all ages and abilities playing football. These schemes will make a big difference to the way that football is played in the city, helping to bridge the gap between the grassroots and professional games. But thanks to our funding partners, and the hard work of local clubs, this project will do much more than improve conditions for young footballers – it will also have a huge impact on the wider population’s health.”

At Mary Linwood, six grass pitches, changing rooms, two referees’ rooms, a club room, reception area and a kitchen have been provided as part of the £1.35 million scheme, together with car parking and floodlighting. And a new all-weather surface has improved the multi-use games pitch at the Samworth Enterprise Academy next door.

Joining the guests for the launch will be John Heath, who set up Aylestone Park Football Club – the partner club at Mary Linwood – back in 1968.

Current club chairman, Bob Stretton, said: “Without John’s vision, Aylestone Park Football Club wouldn’t be where it is today. He’s put his heart and soul into the club and the community over the years, so we’re honoured that he will be joining us for the official opening of our new home.”

Allexton & New Parks FC – the partner club at New College – is also enthusiastic about its new facilities: “After 15 years in New Parks, we’ve finally got a permanent base with facilities and the room we need to expand,” said club chairman Maurice Allen. “Our founders had a dream and this development is the first part of that dream to come true. We ended last season with just 12 teams but we’ve already expanded to 18 in anticipation of the new facilities. This means we’ll be able to get more people playing football in New Parks – and that’s more people of all ages, from five years old to 60.”

Facilities at New College playing fields have been transformed, thanks to the £1.6 million scheme, with a full-size floodlit all-weather pitch, a floodlit grass pitch, six changing rooms, two referees’ rooms, a club room, a reception area and a kitchen.

But the Mary Linwood and New College schemes are just two of the 11 sites that will be upgraded as part of the strategy. Two grass sites – at Beaumont Park and Rushey Fields – and four inner-city ball courts have already been completed.

Funding for the £11.2 million football investment strategy includes the biggest single grant ever made by the Football Foundation – £5 million.

Paul Thorogood, chief executive of the Football Foundation, said: “I am delighted that these two state-of-the-art sports facilities are now ready to open their doors to the people of Leicester. Since being launched in 2000 the Foundation has funded 180 projects worth £25 million across Leicestershire alone thanks to money provided by the Premier League, The FA and the Government.”

Further contributions have been made by Leicester City Council, Sport England, local partner clubs, the UEFA Jubilee Fund and NHS Leicester City.

Deb Watson, director of public health and health improvement at NHS Leicester City and Leicester City Council, said: “Regular exercise is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle and fits with our ambitions to encourage more men, women and children to take part in some form of physical activity. Football is a great, fun way to achieve this and, combined with healthy eating, will help to maintain a healthy weight.”

The successful implementation of Leicester’s football strategy aims to create more than 280 new teams and around 3,000 new regular players, while providing coaching for more than 5,000 youngsters.

Union Square

Project Mercury was the first human spaceflight program of the United States led by its newly created space agency NASA. It ran from 1959 through 1963 with the goal of putting a human in orbit around the Earth, and doing it before the Soviet Union, as part of the early space race. It involved seven astronauts flying a total of six solo trips. On May 5, 1961, Alan Shepard became the first American in space in a suborbital flight after the Soviet Union had put Yuri Gagarin into orbit one month earlier. John Glenn became the first American to reach orbit on February 20, 1962. He was the third person to do so, after Soviet Gherman Titov made a day-long flight in August 1961. When the project ended in May 1963, USA was still behind the Soviet space program, but the gap was seen as closing.

When the stars don't shine, and when the birds don't fly

And when the flowers cry, and when the rain runs dry

When the violet's red and when the rose turn blue

I'll still be in love with u.....

- This is my first shot for the LOVE project. Received these hearts and a lovely postcard with a beautiful message from my Japan friend, Keiko some time ago and had a couple of shots last night. Nothing beats the satisfaction of producing these lovely shots, as my wife was there helping me all the way. Hence...called Love project.

This is one of my favorite spreads from my Sketchbook Project.

First, I freehanded the patterned background with a Sharpie. Scanned a ballpoint pen sketch, enlarged it, printed, and then glued it into the sketchbook. From there I was able to use my acrylics to work the final magic.

To see some of my work in progress and the cover to the sketchbook, check out my blog:

This is my entry in the Project Quilting Off Season Challenge - Catalog It! Your inspiration was to be from an ad.

I was inspired by clothes ads. Many times we thumb thru' catalogs and order clothes. Then they come in the mail and they don't fit us correctly. They just hang in our closets. Since this has happened to just about everyone I know, I decided we could all relate!

I was inspired to create a quilt from an unusable clothing item --- a denim shirt that didn't fit me!

I posted about each part of the process on my blog: marciascraftysewing.blogspot.com/

This outfit is a modified "Myra" jumpsuit by Violette Field Threads. I narrowed and shortened the legs, added a wide cuff, piped the armholes and keyhole, and narrowed and shortened the neck tie. Its made of hot pink denim, with just a little stretch. On the back are mismatched, oversized white buttons. She has a coordinating hair bow. Whenever I sew for my kids, my goal is that they will actually want to wear the clothes, and that the clothes will hold up to regular, everyday use. She loves this, and played for a long time in it, doing lots of jumping, "because its a jumpsuit!"

No. 1 - 5:- Exploring Rochester - High Street

City of Great Expectations - Charles Dickens..

Elizabeth's of Eastgate

Housed in a historic Tudor building a couple of minutes' walk from the cathedral and Rochester castle, Elizabeth's of Eastgate is moving with the times. It's a comfortable place noted for its relaxed atmosphere and friendly, professional service: 'you are made to feel special and welcome, not just a number,' concluded one satisfied Mobile Food Guide reporter.

The exterior still testifies to the building's age and history, but the decor and menu tell a different story. Visitors can look forward to a mix of classic British and French-inspired dishes ranging from grilled slip sole with herb crushed potatoes and tartare sauce or roast Barbary duck breast with Madeira jus to a duo of Romney Marsh lamb with lyonnaise potatoes and rosemary jus.

You could begin with roast whole quail with buttered spinach and Cassis jus or an assiette of Cornish crab, and round things off with Baileys cheesecake or apple and pear clafoutis with cinnamon ice cream. Traditional roast beef lunches are served on Sundays. The 80-bin wine list is a carefully considered selection, with Spain and France offering the most interesting possibilities.

Mister Pumblechook's

'...eminently convernient and commodious premises'

Standing opposite Eastgate House is another large, timber-framed mansion, built in about 1684. Originally, this was one large house but is now, and probably was also in Dickens' time, divided into three separate premises. It feaqtures in Great Expectations as Mr. Pumblechook's House, where he carried on business as a corn chandler, and again in The Mystery of Edwin Drood as the offices of Mr. Sapsea, an auctioneer.

In Dickens Footsteps.

SpirosK is the wonderful photographer for this henna project, and Danai Gourd the marvellous model. We shot in an abandoned hotel in the mountains north of Athens, Greece. The hotel was really moody, surreal, post-apocalyptic fairy in a mad maxish setting. This was one of the most fun projects I have worked on with a great crew - assistants, make up artists, everyone gave 110% of their energy to do this.

Henna was a challenge for me, not my normal style. Tried to make it thorny, not too flowery, tribally, but not too tribal, and the raggedy faerie wings were accented with water color pencil.

The cast and crew are:

Kree Arvanitas = Henna artist

Danai Gourd = Model

Jennifer Rage = Makeup Artist

Magdalini = Artist Assistant

Anastasia = Model Assistant

The Eden Project is a visitor attraction in Cornwall, England. Inside the two biomes are plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments. The project is located in a reclaimed Kaolinite pit, located 2 km (1.2 mi) from the town of St Blazey and 5 km (3 mi) from the larger town of St Austell, Cornwall.

The complex is dominated by two huge enclosures consisting of adjoining omes that house thousands of plant species, and each enclosure emulates a natural biome. The biomes consist of hundreds of hexagonal and pentagonal, inflated, plastic cells supported by steel frames. The largest of the two biomes simulates a Rainforest environment and the second, a Mediterranean environment. The attraction also has an outside botanical garden which is home to many plants and wildlife native to Cornwall and the UK in general; it also has many plants that provide an important and interesting backstory, for example, those with a prehistoric heritage.

I am guess first picture is always the hard one to choose and I always have no idea how to start. I Capture this shot with my Macro 100mm in 1/125 sec at f8, ISO 100 with natural sunlight.

This started out as a tortured tee shirt I had laying around for quite some time. I cut it into thin strips and sewed the ends to a strip of extra jersey left over from the sleeves. Then I braided the strips and sewed up the other end with another sleeve. Then I put my hair up in a loose bun and tied the headband below the bun and tucked the ends under. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out but I think I will keep experimenting until I perfect it. Maybe next time I'll use a hot pink shirt!

My sister Jenna and I got ringpops at our sister, Gina's baseball game.

This is a work in progress restoration of my early 70's Bianchi. I think it's a Bianchi Rekord or Sprint from the early 70's, it came with a cotter type bottom bracket, and a chrome front fork shroud. It does however have a Campione del Mondo decal on the cross bar, which if original dates the bike to 1974 minimum.

I've fitted a Magistroni Chainwheel and a Campagnolo Record rear deraileur, Campagnolo Valentino matchbox front derailleur, Universal Mod 61 Brake levers, Universal mod68 brake calipers.
