Katie's a competitive figure skater, I thought it'd be cool to get her on the Rideau Canal to do a few tricks. Turned out it was just too cold but we managed to pull off some great portraits together.

Telus missed the 16th ( Apple supply lines? ), but were true to their word - first in line etc. (flip.it/CTdo5c Why the iPhone 14 Pro Camera Is a Big Leap for Photo Enthusiasts )

11.10.22: Took advantage of the sunny day and toured The Butchart Gardens yesterday. Holiday so many visitors to contend with. The partially overcast weather suited photography of the gardens.

No heavy cam and lenses, just the 14 and the ShiftCam ProGrip combo. Alternated between default and ProRaw (12 vs 48). Will re-visit Butchart’s next week and shoot @ 48 ProRaw + ILCE 7M3 - 24-105MM 4.0 OSS.

17.05.23:

fstoppers.com/reviews/iphone-14-pro-first-phone-could-rep...

Conundrum:Do I leave both full frame Sony’s at home for an up and coming Alaska cruise, and rely on this iPhone plus the RX 100 5? Do I take the iPhone with the ILCE-M3 and the 24-105 G (or the Tamron 70-300 or both?). Maybe the the RX1 and the iPhone? I have been lucky enough over the years to cruise to Alaska in cloudy weather for the most part, but lucked in with one which was sunny (74 degrees in Whittier) all the way. We are not flying so carry on case / backpack not really an issue.

In the past I travelled with my monopod (regardless of the ship vibrations while on deck) but with the M3 and the 24-105 OSS that should not be a problem. Decisions, Decisions!

26.09.23: Back from Alaska cruise. RX1, RX100V and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The latter used more often than not. Late September weather mostly wet, cloudy and fog - not an issue with the iPhone.

iphone 15 Pro Max ordered but still on the fence.

4.10.23: Last week cancelled order from Apple.ca - waiting to see if the heating problem is resolved.

22.06.21: Decided not to wait for 13 this Fall and upgraded from the 11 Max Pro.

While charging and downloading the iCloud backup, the top right side got really hot. After some research, I decided to unplug and continue with the download. No heating problems since, including 100 F. yesterday.

Screen protector and a Gear4 Crystal Palace snap case - compatible with MagSafe.

24.09.21: Kickstarter: As a backer of Shiftcam ProGrip, still waiting for 'fullfillment'.

Moment lenses (11 Max Pro) remain on the shelf so far (I would have to buy a another case to fit them.

12.12-21: Managed to spend 1.5 hours rainless touring The Butchart Gardens Holiday Lights Display. Oped to use this iPhone and leave the heavier kit @ home, but did take the opportunity to use the ProGrip SHIFTCAM (Kickstarter - almost 2 years [Covid-19] from start to finish. I was surprised by the quality overall) for the first time.

It was 3 degrees C, so gloves where on, and I had no problem using the ShiftCam’s shutter button.

A nice pair indeed and taken using ProGrip closeup lens.

The light is natural and came through the veranda polycarbonate roof. I was tempted to use a reflector as the light cast side shadows and is only from above.

Just installed the new Yoshimura Slip on exhaust (in carbon). Sounds extra mean now.

Mods so far:

Yoshi Slip on

ProGrip tank protector

Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator kit

Live from Phillip Island, Australia.

The first #sbk weekend is already started,

Alfa romeo is part of it with his top performance model, the astonishing #4C!

Camped up island over the long labour day weekend. I wavered between traveling with the new (for me) iPhone 11 Max Pro + Moment lenses alone or also with the RX1. The RX1 won out, and did not disappoint (as usual). Processed the latter's shots first, and now the iPhone's will be reviewed.

Moment lenses:

1. 58mm

2. 18mm (use most of the Med. trip)

3. 1.33

4. Macro.

13.09.20: Last Fall I purchased and subsequently returned 2 gimbals, which I had tested on my iPhone X S MAX. Neither had a reasonable grip with the Moment case on. Taking the case off each time for videoing did not interest me (why is it that manufactures seem to assume that most user’s do not use a case). Levelling and size were another 2 reasons.

This week I decided to buy the Hohem iSteady X as it appears to be smaller by comparison, as well as a better grip. For now I am not planning on using the moment lenses for videos.

ProGrip Kickstarter campaign: Participating in this one.

www.avsforum.com/threads/hohem-isteady-x-3-axis-smartphon...

15.09.20: Hohem iSteady X Gimbal - Last Winter I ordered and subsequently returned the DJI Mobile 3 and the Zhiyun Smooth-Q2. Both gimbals did not meet my criteria with respect to the grip when (safe) mounting an iPhone X S Max with a Moment case. If using Moment lenses, weights were required, and there was a problem when using the 18mm wide angle lens (visible on the right hand side of the screen).

Based on researching the new DJI Mobile 4 & the hohem, I decided that the latter best met my criteria. The hohem is lighter, easier to set up and just enough features so the learning curve will be faster ( at least for me :) ) Did I mention that the price was about $60.00 less than the Mobile 4?

It would have been nice to have this gimbal while traveling in the Mediterranean

last August/September - video and still shots with one hand.

Another portrait of Shelley for her website: www.sciconic.com

The sun was coming in pretty hot through the window on this one (you can see the shadow behind her head) so I reflected some light back to her with a large Westcott scrim jim to her right, and added a Canon 600EX-RT hand-held through an umbrella on a Westcott Pro Grip to camera right. Triggered with a YN-E3-RT

In front the Green-System mounted on Progrip goggles. I bought these goggles since i race in Italy where such a tear-off retention system is mandatory! No regular tear-offs can be used. But honestly - i don't like the Progrip goggle too much and i already had like 10 Scott goggles so i wanted to have something similar for my own Scott goggles.
