I'm making a screensaver out of Hana at the moment, obviously a screensaver shouldn't draw too much CPU or it will have a negative effect on anything you might be running, like a render.
Back in the 90's I remember reading an article in a game mag previewing this game:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azrael's_Tear
Something they talked about in the article was that their renderer would drop the resolution the faster you moved, so that as they described it if you were running down a corridor everything would be fast and smooth, but if you stopped to look at something the resolution would increase, giving you more detail.
I remember trying this game very briefly back then and couldn't really see much evidence of this (maybe that's how good their implementation was) but I've managed to track down a copy by means I won't go into any further and am looking forward to having a go to see if they imlemented it in the end.
Anyways, for Hana I am planning something much simpler in that it will simply drop the resolution it renders at and stretch out the result using bilinear filtering.
The shot is rendering in 381x286 and stretching out (without bloom or motion blur), naturally the minimum will have to be quite a bit higher to make sure it doesn't break up lines too much like in that shot.
I don't intend to continually drop and raise the resolution, just drop it until we reach 30 fps or so, will probably keep the fps it tries to reach quite low, only mac minis and older macbook should have to put in any effort though. (The mac mini was the target platform).

In 1942, The Hudson Valley Courier wrote an article about Vassar's physical education program, noting, ''freshmen and sophomores are required to take a course in physical education, and although upperclassmen may forego work in this department, about 50 percent voluntarily take part in some phase of the athletic association program... Most popular sport in the winter season with the students is swimming. Among the sports rapidly gaining favor are badminton, squash and bowling.''

During a Native American history-themed sleepover at the National Archives in Washington, DC, 101 kids and their grown-ups spent the night enjoying history-related activities, learning from special guests actor Martin Sensmeier, Jim Thorpe historians Bob Wheeler and Flo Ridlon, and Native American storyteller Perry Ground. After sleeping over night in the Rotunda, participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast made by the Archivist of the United States, David S. Ferriero, on October 14, 2018.
The van for the SFPD's teen fishing program, a Ford Transit Connect, (i think...) sits at an (you guessed it...) expired parking meter, waiting for the return of the participants from a fishing trip, in the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco, CA. FILE - In this March 3, 2005, file photo President George W. Bush arrives with CIA Director Porter Goss, left, to talk to reporters after he received an intelligence briefing at Central Intelligence Agency headquarters in Langley, Va., near Washington. In 2004 Goss revived a CIA plan to use the private contractor Blackwater as part of its now-abandoned secret program to kill or capture terrorists in sensitive overseas operations. Blackwater had won the government's confidence by handling security and training operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the decision to use a private contractor yo implement this secret plan struck some former agency officials as highly unusual. Group photo of the attendees of the "Year of Programming" symposium held at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin, Texas in 1988. I did not take this photo, but I am in it. So are some great computer scientists, such as Edsger W.Dijkstra, John W. Backus, C. A. R. Hoare, Peter Wegner, David Turner, Richard S. Bird, Samson Abramsky, etc. The topic of discussion at this six-day symposium was Functional Programming.
