The walls of the shop are covered with brightly coloured phone cases. Display cabinets show off mini-speaker and headphones. As I entered the store, Matt asked me if I was looking for anything in particular and what kind of phone I had. I told him that I was just browsing and showed him my fairly basic, non-smart, Nokia.
Matt admired my camera, so I told him a little of my project that began with a challenge to take photos of 100 strangers. I handed him my card, which has a few photos on it. He said that he had been looking to get his photo taken professionally and asked if I would be interested. Instead I asked if he would be up for being in my project right now. He agreed and I took some amateur ones outside the shop.
Matt could not move far from the shop as he was working. He didn't want to leave his colleague on her own too long. When we got back inside I asked if it was allowed to take a photo of Matt in the shop – I know that many companies don't allow this. Matt's colleague said that it wasn't and there were video cameras operating.
I've taken photos of quite a few strangers from Spain over the last year and Matt surprised me by telling me that he had come from Spain to live here. He had been living in Lanzarote since he was 10 years old. Matt and his family had owned and run a business out there. He had been working in a bar before he came back to live in the UK.
He enjoyed his life in Spain and proved his fluent Spanish to me (I didn't understand a word but it sounded very authentic). Matt seems equally happy living in England. He enjoys his job in Street. When I asked him what he liked to do when not working, Matt surprised me again.... Computer programming. I worked as a computer programmer for many years and I had forgotten that people do it for fun. I remembered that when I worked as an assistant gardener, I used to program in my head while I was raking leaves. Matt smiled when I told him this … he can do this kind of thing too.
We exchanged words of thanks as I left the shop. Matt seemed genuinely pleased that I had taken his portrait.

This lecture series explores key concepts in computational media to empower individuals to imagine, collaborate, provoke, and prototype through computing.
As a result of its widespread adoption, digital media has transitioned from "new media" to a ubiquitous part of contemporary life. This shift from novelty to familiarity has considerable ramifications for academic institutions working in the fields of media arts and digital culture. Exploring the formal potentials of information and networked technologies is no longer of significant interest: information technologies need to be understood as an embedded part of culture and history. Digital cultural practices must also work to extend their parent disciplines, including the studio arts, media history and theory, design, computer science and engineering.
Each speaker in the "Computation After New Media" series will focus on one word— a single term they feel is a core part of their work within the framework of computation. These lectures will be aimed at exploring the underlying structures of computationalism, providing an important leverage into the philosophy, languages, and principles of digital media.

Design Dialogues brings provocateurs from the worlds of design, art, academia, and technology into the MDP Studio. Each term, a guest curator is invited to build a series around a theme of their choosing.
Meetings: 12-2 pm. Talks: 3-6 pm in the Wind Tunnel Gallery. Open only to Media Design students, alumni, and faculty.
I grew up as a metal baby in the late 80s/early 90s, and I’ve never lost my taste for the hard stuff. The combination of two of my great loves, heavy metal and computer programming, in one of my favorite mediums, the t-shirt, makes this an instant favorite.
Fun fact: Although not widely known, corpse paint has been worn by computer programmers as early as the late 1960s. It’s rumored that Kim Petersen, better known as King Diamond, was first exposed to corpse paint by some LISP developers who were attending a mathematics conference in Denmark in the early 1970s.
Pro-tip: While real programmers wear do wear corpsepaint, real programmers do not wear nail studded gauntlets. They’re a major contributing factor in repetitive stress injuries.

I picked it up on ebay for 12 dollars. The above site states that it can run the UsbAsp and the MKII firmware. I have not tried USBASP out but it does work well with the MKII out of box.

SBB Key Programmer V33 is a new device used as a portable unit for programming keys in immobilizer units on vehicles. Due to its integrated hardware, SBB V33 needs no more than an OBDII cable providing with a wide range of functions.
I threw about six boxes of old stuff out of my garage this afternoon. Here's part of what you can find in my dumpster if you go diving for it before trash pickup day.
