Participants practice liquid sampling procedure during a chemical emergency response training exercise.
The practical scenario-based exercise is part of the OPCW pilot programme to develop a global pool of trainers for chemical emergency preparedness, organised by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) with support from the Government of Italy. Participants learned how to respond to chemical incidents and how to impart training skills to others to do the same.
The course was held from 23 to 27 March 2026 at the OPCW Centre for Chemistry and Technology, and CBRN Defense Centre (Defensie CBRN Centrum) of the Dutch Armed Forces in Vught, The Netherlands.

The Entrepreneurship Growth Programme (EGP) workshops encourage businesses to look inside their business, understand their business plan, define their market position, perfect their sales and value propositions and set more ambitious goals for their business to grow.
Seven workshops have already taken place on the programme - Product Marketing and Sales (September 2009), Leading and Building a World Class Management Team (February 2010), Creating Competitive Advantage through Operational Excellence (June 2010), Financing for Growth (August 2010), Global Sales Strategies (November 2010); Entrepreneurial Marketing (February 2011) and Entrepreneurial Leadership, Strategy and Culture (June 2011).
• ‘Clean Sea Programme’ is a Sweden-led initiative to reduce littering of marine ecosystems.
New system to measure air quality
• India is tying up with the United States and Finland to develop a pollution-forecast system.
• It will help anticipate particulate matter (PM) levels at least two days in advance and at a greater resolution than what is possible now.
• At present, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, serves as the apex forecaster of pollution trends in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad.
• It generates a likely air quality profile, a day in advance, for these cities.
• IITM is an organisation under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).
