Refugees: A Moral and Economic Imperative
History will record the mass migration of people as a central crisis of our time, creating a rolling, global epicenter of poverty and human suffering. Pope Francis has asked the international community to “confront the reality of those who have been displaced by force.” This luncheon session will be devoted to a high-level discussion on the scope and nature of the refugee crisis, and what the private sector can do to rescue the futures of those men, women, and children permanently displaced by violence.

Each the evening the Ranger(s) put on a program. I was really challenged taking this shot until at one point all the campers turned flashlights on and the fire flared up giving me enough light for an exposure.

The Virginia National Guard Commonwealth ChalleNGe program graduated 99 cadets June 18, 2011 at the Naval Air Station Oceana theater in Virginia Beach. Commonwealth ChalleNGe is the Virginia component of the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program, a five and a half month program which focuses on preparing at-risk teens and high school dropouts for the General Educational Development test and future employment, military or higher education opportunities. Virginia Sen. Frank Wagner and Brig Gen. Wayne A. Wright, the deputy Adjutant General of Virginia, were among those on hand to congratulate the graduates. The ceremony also marked a farewell for retired Marine Corps Col. T.M. Early, who is retiring as director of the ChalleNGe program after leading it since 2005. (Photo by Sgt. 1st Class A.J. July 18, 2023 — Brooklyn, NY — Governor Hochul announced several executive actions to promote housing growth as part of her ongoing commitment to addressing New York’s housing crisis, largely driven by a severe housing shortage. The actions include a program to advance residential projects halted by the expiration of 421-A that include affordable housing in the Gowanus neighborhood in Brooklyn; an executive order establishing preference in certain discretionary funding programs for localities across the state that comply with a new “Pro-Housing Community” certification process; a new requirement that all State entities identify the potential for their state-owned lands to support housing; recent and forthcoming regulatory initiatives to identify opportunities for greater efficiencies to promote housing growth; and the launch of the beta version of a new, interactive portal to collect and share community-level housing and zoning data and information on an ongoing basis.
