The United States Air Force Band String Quartet held a special concert on May 8, 2016 for His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, and other invited guests to commemorate a performance that took place on May 9, 1956 in Phnom Penh at the invitation of the late King Norodom Suramarit and Queen Sisowath Monivong Kossomak Nearireath Serei Watana.
Joined by two Cambodian artists, The United States Air Force Band String Quartet played a mix of American, European, and Cambodian music, including two pieces by King Sihanouk that premiered in 1956.
The musicians concluded the 60th Anniversary Concert with a special birthday message for HM King Norodom Sihamoni and a heart-warming encore performance of "Monika" in honor of HM Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk.

During my high school years, I was part of the IB Middle Years Programme, which is generally aimed at an international learning approach, which awakens international humanism, and which requires involvement in the community. It was a program that required criteria that we had to meet in order to pass. Compared to the regular program, it was more expensive (I should point out that you are chosen after an exam). This could have been a barrier for people who could have joined this program because they had the intellectual capacity.
However, the differences between the programs were overwhelming. For example, we were allowed several outings, trips, and sessions with specific people through our program. In addition, we were accompanied to do volunteer work and to get involved in the community. Also a certain attitude from the teachers was established, as sometimes they treated us in a positive way saying "you are international students that's why" and sometimes when it came to talking about the regular program some were condescending.
Looking back, I realize that all of this was something that we could bring to the regular program as well. Such a commitment to volunteering as well as outings and trips would have allowed for the growth of their present and an experience for their future. In retrospect, we realize that money played a role and surely took away the opportunity for many to grow as they would have liked. While the program was demanding on some things, there were elements that could have been adapted for both programs equally.

This appears to be a free flying version of the Apollo Telescope Mount (ATM). In actuality, the Skylab ATM was launched attached to the workshop.

An early programmable thermostat made by the Minneapolis co. The clock and the thermostat must both be separately wound with an included key. Teeth on the back of the clock can be set for different times to trigger the thermostat to turn up or down. I have been told that this thermostat was originally located in the Selden, Kansas high school.
During a Native American history-themed sleepover at the National Archives in Washington, DC, 101 kids and their grown-ups spent the night enjoying history-related activities, learning from special guests actor Martin Sensmeier, Jim Thorpe historians Bob Wheeler and Flo Ridlon, and Native American storyteller Perry Ground. After sleeping over night in the Rotunda, participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast made by the Archivist of the United States, David S. Ferriero, on October 14, 2018.

As I was switching channels a little while ago I I landed on the Travel Channel where they were hunting snapping turtles for food and next the History Channel where folks in Louisiana were filling their quotas for "harvesting" alligators. While I understand the necessity for wildlife management once humans are involved in ecosystems, I think its so sad that we through the media sensationalize the killing of creatures so humans can have soup and leather. Alll of these creatures have been on the earth between 100 and 200+ million years. The only thing they have done all those millions of years was to live their own lives...Makes me sad.The picture here is of a Green iguana. Green iguana (Iguana iguana). Iguanas are native to Mexico and Central and South America. They are prevelant in the pet trade but they should not be kept as "pets." Lizards have been on the earth for 250 million years. I wrote a script to generate random Structure Synth rules. Pretty much everything it generates looks like this, so I have more to do...
This was taking a long time to render, so I tried to use Helios to distribute it, but each of my computers was rendering blocks in slightly different hues, so I had to abandon that approach.
