Richard G. Hovannisian born November 9, 1932) is an American-Armenian historian and scholar. He was born and raised in Tulare, California. He received his B.A.(1954) and M.A.(1958) degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Ph.D.(1966) from University of California, Los Angeles. He was also Associate Professor of History at Mount St. Mary's College, Los Angeles, from 1966 to 1969. In 1987, Professor Hovannisian was appointed as the first holder of the Armenian Educational Foundation Endowed Chair in Modern Armenian History at the UCLA. Hovanissian is a Guggenheim Fellow who has received numerous honors for his scholarship, civic activities, and advancement of Armenian Studies. His biographical entries are included in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World among other scholarly and literary reference works.
The Director of the Armenian Research Center in University of Michigan–Dearborn, Dr. Dennis R. Papazian commended Hovannisian in a recent review:
"Richard Hovannisian has done genocide and Holocaust scholarship a great service by producing a collection of fresh essays which expand our knowledge and explore revealing facets heretofore ignored."
Hovannisian is the father of Raffi Hovannisian, former Foreign Minister of Armenia.

Professor John Hill
Professor Micaiah John Muller Hill FRS (1856–1929) was an English mathematician, known for Hill's Spherical Vortex and Hill's Tetrahedra.
In geometry, Hill's Tetrahedra are a family of space-filling tetrahedra that Hill discovered in 1896. when he was Professor of Mathematics at University College London. He showed that they are scissor-congruent to a cube. So now you know.
Hill received a bachelor's degree in 1873 and an M.A. in 1876 from UCL. In 1880–1884 he was a Professor of Mathematics at Mason College (which later became Birmingham University).
In 1891 he earned his Sc.D. from Cambridge University. From 1884 to 1907 he was Professor of Pure Mathematics at UCL, and from 1907 to 1923 Astor Professor of Mathematics, UCL.
In 1894 Hill was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, and in 1926 and 1927 he served as president of the Mathematical Association. His two sons were Sir Roderic Maxwell Hill and Professor Geoffrey Terence Roland Hill.
