When you are out walking the last thing you expect is to find is a young lady prancing around with a red shawl in a sea of yellow oilseed plants.
It was a professional photo shoot and I was allowed a "modest" shot on my phone camera and without my glasses I could not see to switch on the flash.
My model, Kelly, wanted to do something different so we decided to do a series of cinematic shots covering the story of a mental / emotional breakdown. We shot on the fly but what more poetic way than to start the story with a shot of her in my car, when the rain had literally just stopped and my windscreen was still wet? The story is she had just pulled into the hard shoulder really feeling overwhemed (but obviously we shot on a much quieter city street!)
There's numerous metaphors about driving / travel at night to tap into. Poets have also long equated the rain with tears.
There wasn't a lot of tweaking to colour but I processed this with the tones of yellow and green to provoke an emotional response of sickness / unease in the viewer while also getting it to look cinematic.
I also chose to leave the small chip in my windscreen in... another metaphor tapping into the emotions. That chip is gonna crack one day.

And it's drowning the sound of my tears.." (Bryan Ferry, Oh Yeah)

Taken at The Loft, Colchester, visittheloft.co.uk/, at the Essex & Suffolk Models and Photographers group night. www.facebook.com/groups/329477353737813/
My first time in a 'proper' studio and, though a bit of a daunting prospect initially, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience with some highly talented photographers and 2 very patient models!
Photoshop CC and PortraitPro 12.
Another portrait of model Andrea, one of my favourites from the recent #Nikon100 London #NikonMeetups fashion shoot at a fabulous location in West London ( www.shootfactory.co.uk/uk-locations/randolph-london-w9/ ).
My shots might differ from other people's as I didn't use the studio lights provided as my hotshoe was damaged and I couldn't fit the IR commander unit. As a result I had to shoot using only the available natural light, something that has added a bit of extra drama to the shots (and created a bit of a headache in post-production thanks to the extreme contrast......).
Having been selected as one of 100 photographers to take part in the Nikon Centenary celebrations the day involved five seperate themed shoots around different locations in London. All in all it was a superbly organised event and I captured a wide variety of shots, some in genres I've not much experience.

A drastically new edit (hot off my computer today) of this Scandinavian beauty who always reminds me of the iconic Debbie Harry of Blondie when I see her shots from that shoot
Dr. Victoria Zdrok, clinical psychologist, sex therapist and 2004 Penthouse Pet of the Year. Photographed December 9, 2009 at the Jacqueline Marie Couture studio in New York City.

Canon 5Dmkii and vintage lens, I think this was my Olympus 50mm but I could be wrong
Model Ella Parsons at a studio before lockdown, I’ll have to figure out my exports, I’m not happy with the compression or the lack of metadata!
A very-nearly-sepia portrait of Andrea, one of two models for the #Nikon100 London #NikonMeetups fashion shoot at a fabulous location in West London ( www.shootfactory.co.uk/uk-locations/randolph-london-w9/ ). I kept a little bit of the red channel so that her lipstick subtlety stands out.
I've photographed a few models before but the attention to detail for this shoot made taking great photos very easy.........

5D mk ii with vintage adapted Olympus 50mm 1.8
Another photograph of Grace I took before the lockdown
Model Natalia Zhang
I have this in colour too but it is also stunning in mono. I am torn between my colour edits as they are all so beautiful but when I decide on the final one, I will post it ;)
5D mk ii with vintage Olympus 50mm 1.8 which is a stunning and very inexpensive old lens.
A photograph taken of model Grace before the lockdown in a striped shirt (I wish I'd asked for it to be ironed but you live and you learn).
Grace was a fantastic model, and she looks great backlit, her hair almost halos around her.

Canon 5D mk ii with a vintage lens on an adapter, fairly certain this is my Sigma 28mm. Out of habit more than anything I pretty much exclusively shoot primes. I find zooms make the choice to change focal length too easy, meaning I become less creative.
This is another photograph of pro model Ella Parsons at a studio earlier in the year.

A nod to the pre Raphaelites here.
Model Sinopa Rin shot under the drawbridge of a medieval French chateau, the moat of which was now drained out and laid to garden. I've 'shopped this and used artistic licence to add a lot more flowers than were actually there, and a few other tweaks, but if the Flickr Police want to arrest me they can kiss my Nikon as this is a heavily edited REAL image.
New edit hot off the Mac....

This portrait of model Ivory Flame makes a bit more of the boat graveyard location that most of the other shots I've uploaded.
