This is a small Rubik’s Cube that fits on a key ring, which I used as my contribution for the Macro Mondays theme of puzzle.. I now have to work it out...HMM
Sometimes I am bowled over by a bird's abilitiy to find food in - to me at least - the most surprising places.
Here a carrion crow took off from a muddy bank beside a shallow lake; hovered for a second; dropped ankle deep into the water; and then surfaced pulling an enormous freshwater mussel from the mud.

The Gordian Knot is a legend of Phrygian Gordium associated with Alexander the Great. It is often used as a metaphor for an intractable problem (untying an impossibly tangled knot) solved easily by finding an approach to the problem that renders the perceived constraints of the problem moot ("cutting the Gordian knot").

It has been more than 130 days since the beginning of the protest in Hong Kong. The pro-demoracy movement is not coming to the end yet since the government is not answering to the demands of people. This is like a difficult and unsolved chess game.
It is now the turn for the Hong Kong government to make a move.

We came back from our adventure to the coast a couple of day early. A tropical storm is potentially building in the gulf. For whatever reason, Hadley is bored and antsy, walking back and forth. An old fashioned method of occupying himself seems to be solving the problem.
I really cannot recall the last time I saw real cards in his hands but whatever works!

This is Christakis, my grandfather, the man from whom I inherit not just my name, but so much more.
Never could I have imagined how deeply his presence would shape my life. Just by being near him and observing.
As the years pass and I reflect, I find myself filled with endless gratitude for the privilege of calling him Grandad. To be able to draw so much inspiration from him is truly a blessing.
Over time, I have been fascinated and intriged by the way he carried himself, dealt with life, created, designed and, above all, problem solved creatively with such a finesee. But what stands out most, the legacy I carry with me, is his unwavering work ethic—his obsession with quality, precision, and the smallest detail.
His discerning eye became my own, his passion for precision and accuracy forever echoing through my world.
A few lines could never capture his essence, for the inspiration he has given me is boundless.
To some, he may have been just another man. But to me, he is a legend.
His entire life revolved around his craft—a man of stainless steel, with hands as steady and enduring as the metal he shaped.

If you are wondering about the meaning of the title The Megaphone Back in Action, that is because this photo was taken within few minutes of file 2025002-0048 which showed this person, along with two others, attempting to get the megaphone working. They managed to get the problem with the megaphone sorted out, so they can start using it.
While attending the Trans Resistance Rally event at Bristol as an out-of-work freelance photographer, looking to freshen up and improve my skills, I was looking around for anything interesting going on.
As in the previous shot, I saw this person with the short black T-shirt carrying a megaphone, had been attempting to get the megaphone working, hence the other two came around to help out.
Now that it was working fine, this person started using it at the beginning of the protest. At that point in time, the gathering was still growing bigger and bigger.
It was shot in colour, I converted it into black and white while in Adobe Lightroom, and cropped it while in Adobe Photoshop.

This is an image my wife took at the Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I thought it was rather cute as the Pacific Black Duck and her ducklings were trying to work out how to navigate this dangerous waterfall. Eventually the ducklings managed to overcome the obstacle and fell down the waterfall and survived the ordeal.

About this photograph.
While attending the Trans Resistance Rally event at Bristol as an out-of-work freelance photographer, looking to freshen up and improve my skills, I was looking around for anything interesting going on.
I saw this person with the short black T-shirt carrying a megaphone, and started speaking, but soon found there were problems with the megaphone. While trying to get it working, the other two came over to help out.
I was trying to get a better angle, and hope to include the troublesome megaphone in the shot, but figured that the problem could be short lived, they could simply have sorted it out within a matter of seconds, so I didn’t want to risk missing the photos by moving around and looking for a better angle.
I simply started taking the photographs, while at same time attempting to move around for a better viewpoint. But as I figured, they didn’t take too long to try to get it working.
It was shot in colour, I converted it into black and white while in Adobe Lightroom, and cropped it while in Adobe Photoshop.

This is the American Digital Frontier.

Every movie streamed, every online purchase, every GPS route, every medical scan, every bank transaction, every weather forecast, every cybersecurity system, every scientific model, every cloud-based business tool – all of it flows through data centers. Not abstractly. Not theoretically. Literally. And as the world becomes more connected, more digital, and more dependent on real-time information, the demand for computing power grows – whether or not AI exists.
Instead of forcing data centers into suburbs and farmland, we should build them where they can thrive without conflict – remote, renewable rich, water neutral outposts that generate their own power and recycle every drop. Otherwise, we just infuriate local residents unnecessarily. There are plenty of wide-open spaces in the American West for solar-wind-hydro-powered complexes that can blend into the landscape and leave local communities untouched.
I imagine a “water-neutral” data center complex will mark the beginning of the American Digital Frontier in the near future. It will be step 1 in a new kind of city that is totally self-sufficient, generating all its own power needs via solar panels, a wind farm, and perhaps even a nearby waterfall for hydroelectric energy production. It will be situated in a remote, some would even call "wild" part of a big Western state, nowhere near civilization, with snow-capped mountains in the background.
One of the best sites is Monitor Valley, near the Toquima Range in Central Nevada. It is one of the least populated valleys in the continental U.S. The Toquima Range and Table Mountain Wilderness rise dramatically to the west, and the valley is among the highest irradiance zones in North America. Afternoon thermals sweep down from the mountains, and snowmelt streams descend from the high peaks in spring. Long-haul fiber routes cross central Nevada along US-50 and US-6.
Beneath the quiet watch of snow-capped peaks, a new frontier will take shape designed to harmonize advanced computing with the wild American landscape. It will draw power from the sun, wind, and mountain streams while returning every drop of water back to its natural environment.
The outpost will generate all of its own energy through a carefully balanced ecosystem of solar arrays, wind turbines, and micro hydro installations. Its cooling systems will rely on closed loop water cycles, immersion technology, and atmospheric capture — ensuring zero impact on local watersheds. Every structure will be low profile, earth toned, and shaped to follow the contours of the valley, blending modern engineering with the timeless quiet of the high desert.
A small residential and operations cluster will support the engineers, technicians, and researchers who call the outpost home. Their work will be the foundation of a new kind of settlement — one that grows outward from a single, elegant node into a full fledged city powered entirely by renewable energy and next generation computing.
This outpost will be more than a technological installation. It will be the seed of a future city — a place where innovation, sustainability, and wilderness coexist. A place that demonstrates how the infrastructure of tomorrow can be built with reverence for the land and responsibility to the generations ahead. The Monitor Valley Outpost can stand as a bold invitation: to imagine, to build, and to believe in a future where technology enhances the world instead of consuming it. This is where the digital frontier can begin — and where the next chapter of American innovation will be written.
Addendum
Other suitable outposts may be Northern Arizona (Kaibab Plateau and the Arizona Strip), Eastern Oregon (High Lava Plains near the Cascades), Western Utah (House Range and Snake Valley), Southwestern Wyoming (Red Desert meets the Wind River Range).
This isn't pie-in-the-sky. A public-private partnership may be necessary to get at least the first outpost built, which seems to me as important as building a base on the moon.
