In South Manchester, GMP’s dedicated neighbourhood officers are using their instinct and intuition to fight crime.

In-between their community work and reassurance patrols, speaking to concerned residents and shops, they recently actively gathered information and intel to conduct a warrant just as the festive period came into fruition.

Under the cover of darkness, a cold and wet December morning saw a team of five officers leave the Didsbury headquarters and make the short journey over to Whalley Range to arrest a man after intel suggested he was growing cannabis at his rented premises in a quiet residential estate.

The result was positive and further investigation uncovered attempts to grow drugs in the garage. The electric was later cut off due to concerns over the hap-hazard attempt to divert it.

Taking a further step to promote partnerships with the community, the Missouri City Police Department has initiated a Crime Tip Line and an online program to help residents combat crime. The new high-tech user-friendly tools can be accessed on the City’s website, www.missouricitytx.gov.  Viewers can click “Tracking Crime” under “Quick Links” to access the crime database, a crime tip form and a house watch program.“While crimes against persons have gone down, we have seen an increase in crimes against property in the past year,” said Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald.  “Missouri City Police want all of our residents to be educated as to what is happening in our community and help us prevent crime.  When it does occur, we welcome your information to help us bring these assailants to justice.”The free, crime-mapping national database, called RAIDS Online, allows residents to track all crimes including major or, as they are called, Part I crimes, using applications that group offenses by category and type, location and detailed information charts.  Part I crimes include murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft and arson.  By checking the “Other” box, all other crimes are shown. Citizens can select a date range, click the Map tab and then zoom in on their neighborhood or take a broader view of the City. Clicking on the colored icons on the map brings up specific information on that incident. The Data Grid tab allows viewers to look at a word table and the Analytics tab shows viewers crime in various chart forms by the date range selected.  The website now includes two new forms for residents.  Viewers can also log on to report offenses through a new crime tip form. Tipsters can remain anonymous while sharing important clues to help the Police Department solve crimes. Another service is the house watch program, which helps police safeguard residents’ homes while they are away on business or vacation. Requests should be submitted 48 hours before departure and the length of absence should be at least three days and fewer than three weeks in duration. Homes are checked once per police shift, or three times per day. Residents can also call the police department at 281-403-8700 to request this service. Another new innovative weapon in the Police Department’s crime-fighting arsenal is their new tip line—281-403-5868. The Tip Line is monitored by officers in the Criminal Investigation Division and callers can leave their contact information for officers or they can remain anonymous.“These tools allow residents to use the internet to access forms that will get quick responses from Missouri City Police,” said Fitzgerald. “We want to provide residents with all the best possible ways of getting leads to the Police Department to solve these cases.”For residents used to viewing the Daily Crime Report from the homepage, that information will continue to be posted each day under “Hot Topics”.

The Bambi trailer has always been a favorite among Airstreamers. First launched as a 16-foot single-axle trailer in 1961, the Bambi’s genesis was a proactive response to a nationwide trend. Americans were looking for shorter, lighter, more fuel-efficient automobiles that lacked the power to pull a heavy trailer.

Today, we apply the Bambi name to all single-axle Airstream travel trailers. Their immense popularity isn’t just because of how they look: they’re easy to tow and incredibly versatile, proving great things really do come in small packages. From the Airstream Sport to the single-axle versions of the Flying Cloud and International, every inch is designed for maximum utility and comfort.

Airstream’s first ride was in 1929, but really Airstream was born the first time Wally Byam left home. Wally’s early life – schooling, sailing, camping, and working – all came together to form a vision of the open road, the outdoors, and freedom. That vision was realized in a tent on a Model T chassis. It was realized in a boy working to pay for his school. It was realized when Wally Byam built that first trailer, and it’s still alive today.

In 1931, Airstream began with Wally Byam’s dream: to build a travel trailer that would move like a stream of air, be light enough to be towed by a car, and create first-class accommodations anywhere.

Every inch of an Airstream has a function. Airstream is the most thoroughly tested brand in trailer history. Its engineering is the culmination of over 80 years of experience plus millions of miles on roads throughout the world.

With Airstream, there is no planned obsolescence. Airstreams of the Thirties are still on the road today, sturdy and modern as ever. They are intended as a lifetime investment in happiness.

Staff recommends proactively providing additional conservation measures for the state’s tripletail and sheepshead resources by approving draft rules to increase the recreational and commercial minimum size limit for tripletail to 18 inches; reduce the sheepshead recreational bag limit to five fish per person per day; create a recreational vessel limit of 50 sheepshead per vessel per day during the peak spawning months of March and April; and extend FWC’s current and proposed tripletail and sheepshead regulations into adjacent federal waters, including the previously described size limits, allowable gear, and recreational and commercial bag and vessel limits.

Staff recommends maintaining the current commercial bag and vessel limits for both species but extending those regulations into federal waters off Florida.

Staff have notified both the South Atlantic and Gulf councils of our intention to extend our regulatory authority for these species into adjacent federal waters.

If approved and directed, staff will return for a final public hearing at the April 2018 Commission.

Earlier this year (2024), we launched a proactive operation to tackle a suspected criminal network responsible for the importation and distribution of cannabis.

In January we arrested eight people in connection with this investigation, and this morning, we have arrested a further 6 individuals, aged between 20 and 24 on suspicion of importation of cannabis.

Throughout this investigation, we’ve seized 675.5 kilograms of cannabis and Border Force officials have intercepted several parcels. Each package is estimated to be worth just over £5 million wholesale price and during our investigation we have seized £ 474,000 in cash.

It’s believed that each of the individuals have their own role to play in the conspiracy, ranging from orchestrating the importation of the drugs, to selling the drugs to customers across the UK, to allowing criminals to use their home addresses to send shipments to.

Detective Inspector Claire Rawcliffe from GMP Serious Organised Crime Group said: “We know that organised criminal networks will seek to exploit infrastructure like the postal or fast parcel system to bring their illegal commodities into the UK undetected, but we are working closely and collaboratively with a variety of partners and colleagues to stop them.

“The cost and damage to lives that drugs cause our communities is incalculable, and by working with colleagues at Border Force, we’ve been able to prevent sizable quantities of drugs infiltrating our street and causing further harm and exploitation.”

The 12C features a double wishbone and hydraulic suspension, the latter referred to as the ProActive Chassis Control. The car uses rack-and-pinion and electric power steering. The standard front brakes of the car feature a four-piston fixed calliper configuration, paired with a two-piece front rotor. The 12C uses a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine codenamed "M838T", which was produced by Ricardo PLC in West Sussex, England. It produces a power output of 453 kilowatts (616 PS) at 7,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a torque output of 601 newton-metres (443 lb⋅ft) at 3,000 rpm, sufficient to give the car a 0–97 km/h (0–60 mph) acceleration time of 3.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 333 km/h (207 mph).

The 12C Spider is a convertible version of the MP4-12C with a retractable hardtop. Because the coupe was designed from the outset with a convertible version in mind, no additional strengthening was needed for the Spider and it weighs only 40 kg (88 lb) more than the coupe. McLaren has worked to keep the Spider's top speed 204 mph (328 km/h) close to the coupé's 207 mph (333 km/h) top speed and up to 196 mph (315 km/h) is possible roof down. Meanwhile, the dihedral doors of the coupé are retained

With the proactive planning by my youngest brother, a random synapse firing idea became a fun reality yesterday. Dad is going on a cruise which begins on father's day, and he's hosting a party the night before. So we celebrated yesterday with a mini Iron Chef competition. Really it was just us 3 boys making dinner for dad, but with a mile competitive spirit behind it. I showed up early with more groceries than plan and ended up pan searing some sage coated pork tenderloins while caramelizing onions and sliced apple. I then baked thick cross slices of the tenderloin with mini potatoes and the apple/onion with a quarter bottle of white wine. Came out tasty except for the over numerous potatoes which wanted a bit more balance or zing. Chris made pesto pita pizzas with vegetables which was far too yummy for our own good. Max busted out some balsamic chicken and "dirty cappellini" (wine reduction sauce over the pasta) and some really tasty ran fried potatoes. It was a darn good meal. And the following hours of cigar smoking and tasting liquors wasn't shabby either. (i didn't smoke, duh, calm down). Anyway, dad is the real iron chef in the family even though he sat out this round. Next week i'm coming over to indulge in HIS cooking. Woohoo!

THAT DID NOT TAKE LONG: Charismatic Hot Check Artist Demetria Dunn Arrested Early This Morning In Blount County

~~ Citizen generated tip breaks case ... leads to arrest ~~

Wanted, professional serial hot check artist Demetria Dunn was arrested early this morning in Locust Fork by a proactive, fast acting deputy of the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.

Following a lead generated by last night’s joint community crime watch announcement by the Worthless Check Unit of the Office of District Attorney C. Wilson Blaylock and the Cullman Police Department, a citizen tipster in Blount County responded to the public request for determining the whereabouts of Dunn.

Calling Blount County 9-1-1, the caller indicated that an individual matching the description of Dunn was likely at the Jack’s Family Restaurant on Alabama Highway 79 in Locust Fork. A deputy aware of the community crime watch announcement immediately responded to the call. Arriving at the location, the deputy arrived at Jack’s finding Dunn inside.

Demetria Dunn was promptly arrested.

According to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey, Dunn is no stranger to her office:

“Demetria Dunn has been a thorn-in-my-side since I became District Attorney. She has outstanding warrants in six surrounding counties including Blount County. I am extremely glad to hear our deputy knew about the crime watch announcement and acted so promptly and decisively. Ms. Dunn has left a trail of victims in her wake that deserves to get their money back. I’ll be doing my part to ensure justice is served and any/all restitution available is obtained.”

After being booked in Blount County, Demetria Dunn was transferred to the Cullman County Detention Center this morning.

Officer Cindy Rohrscheib with the Cullman Police Department indicates that Dunn will be held in the Detention Center on multiple cash bonds:

“I was very pleased to hear that Demetria Dunn was arrested in Blount County this morning. She will almost certainly be held in detention at least until the Cullman County Courthouse opens for business after the holiday. Her fate is now in the hands of the judicial system and her probation officer.

The really good news is Dunn is now off the streets where she can longer steal from people. If it weren’t for the community crime watch announcement, she’d almost certainly still be on the streets victimizing merchants ahead of the Christmas holiday.

I greatly appreciate the concern and proactive response by the many citizens who came forward since the story and announcement last night. This is a great example of the media, citizens and law enforcement agencies working in cooperation to take bad folks off the streets.”

Due to Dunn having open Failure To Appear warrants and probation revocation in play, there should be no bond for her. Ultimately, her legal status will be determined by judges and her parole officer likely when the Courthouse re-opens on Tuesday, December 27th.

•• About DEMETRIA DUNN ••

Dunn has 219 known criminal charges on her record. She also has 16 known outstanding warrants against her.

It is important to note these totals reflect only the KNOWN charges on Demetria Dunn (and a list of associated name aliases she has used to commit various crimes in Blount, Cullman, Jefferson and Marshall counties and the various municipalities therein).

Most of Demetria Dunn’s charges involve two main areas of criminal activity:

★ Negotiating Worthless Negotiable Instruments

★ Theft By Deception

Dunn has also been charged with Failure To Appear.

She is currently in violation of probation in Cullman County for convictions linked to previous crimes. She has been imprisoned for similar charges in the past.

An open bench warrant is in place for her arrest.

A proactive parent’s game plan for the realities of online math classes for children

Students are now pursuing homeschool programs and the comfortable environment, especially for online math classes, might make or break their performance in terms of motivation, concentration, and productivity.

As a busy parent also adapting to the new academe, how can you deliver structure, routine, and positivity in their homeschooling routine?

8 Tips for Families Adapting to E-Learning

The difference between school and homeschool setting is stark and now parents play a bigger role in children’s education. Bridging not just academic but also physical and socioemotional development gap is a challenge that will require time and consistency.

That is why here is a game plan to become a proactive parent for effective online math classes:

1. Plan and execute. Write it down, post on the fridge, or schedule on your phone. Parents’ responsibilities are quite a handful, so list and organize plans and make sure to follow it through.

2. Look at how they learn. Each child absorbs and retains information differently—through visuals, practical application, or group exercises. When choosing online math classes, see if the teaching method matches your child’s way of learning or hunt for free trial classes like what Izumi offers for online math lessons.

3. Create an ideal study space that evokes the same atmosphere as a classroom setting—maybe a sturdy and comfortable desk and chair with plenty of natural light and books—to get them into the learning mindset.

4. Take a screen time recess. Urge regular breaks from digital devices. Holding off for even 15 to 30 minutes can help rest and improve their eye health and encourage offline activities.

5.Go old school. Join them in doing physical activities or playing board games. The more active they are, the more motivated they will become in academics. It will also increase appreciation for offline activities and learn to productively spend time without being web dependent.

6. Stay connected with your kids and their educators. Provide more social learning opportunities whether it be homework dates or online group classes. Communicate openly with their teachers regarding their progress and possible improvements.

7. Be practical. Reinforce basic learning concepts the fun way by citing applications in real situations. Online math lessons can be utilized in fun activities like baking, playing, or decorating.

8. Remember to have fun. Be present and involved in your child’s educational activities now that they spend most of their time at home. Let them lead games or create fun supplementary learning activities.

Put on a game face, puff out your chest, and take on 2021 as a well-prepared proactive parent!
