Some will remember that Bullwinkle J Moose was often trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat, to no avail...but he did so with flourish, always proclaiming, "Presto!"
This fellow was just trying to eat some breakfast on a cool spring morning in the Grand Teton National Park, with no squirrels in sight. I came around a bend in Moose Wilson Rd and found a crowd gathered, watching him enjoy his meal. I took the opportunity to park my Jeep and very carefully capture some images of this magnificent specimen as he kept an eye on me.
¡Vamos presto y arreglemos
el puesto de los recuerdos,
que llega la Navidad!
Todos los artesanos
aquí muestran sus trabajos
y buscan que algún cliente
le guste lo que ellos hacen
y se lleve un regalo
para decorar gustosos
un rincón en su casa
que la haga más alegre
y se sienta la Navidad.

“All that is important is this one moment in movement. Make the moment important, vital, and worth living. Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused.”
-- Martha Graham
Union Pacific’s Cache Valley Local crosses the Cub River trestle while backing toward their caboose at Presto Plastics in Lewiston, Utah the evening of Aug. 30, 1988. I recall at the time being shocked and dismayed to see a caboose tagged with graffiti. My how times have changed.
Union Pacific's Cache Valley Local departs Presto Products with four empties on June 21, 2023. OSL built this spur a century ago to reach the Amalgamated Sugar Company factory west of the Cub River. A Valley center pivot irrigation system speaks to Cache County's continued dependence on agriculture as a major contributor to the local economy. The mascot for Utah State University in Logan is the "Aggies".
“We’re Here!” Today explaining the Mediterranean way of life in pictures. Food, of course, is an important aspect of that. In recent years “The Mediterranean Diet” has become codified and packaged, and I don’t pay much attention to all of that. But the basic ingredients have been among my favorites since childhood. Dinner tonight is going to be a very simple affair.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Union Pacific's Cache Valley Local emerges from the Presto Spur near Lewiston, Utah the afternoon of Aug. 30, 1988. The hills in the distance are across the State Line in Idaho. This was my first chase of a local freight that has become a long-time favorite. It was kind of the crew to offer me a cab (and caboose) ride to Presto Plastics that day.
A hazy lazy summer morning finds the Cache Valley Local crossing the High Creek trestle near Lewiston on Pioneer Day, 2019.
Time for lunch at ”We’re Here!” We are having Macaroni, Pasta,Spaghetti, Noodles !
I made some compromises here, meeting somewhere between “luscious” and low-cal “virtuous.” This is whole wheat pasta, tomatoes, spinach, reduced-oil pesto, and a sprinkle of non-fat mozzarella. And it was delicious.
