Say hello to our next presale minifigure. This figure will feature our professional pad printing on the front and back torso, left arm, front and side legs, and both sides of the head (so you can choose which face to show with your fig). The torso and legs will be flat silver. ;)

Along with that, it will feature a unique helmet/hair piece - with the hair tan and the helmet flat silver - with printing on the front. Lastly, it will feature a custom red cape and hammer.

We plan on releasing this in one week on the website.

Grayson Perry, in full Sir Grayson Perry, (born March 24, 1960, Chelmsford, Essex, England), British potter who embedded in his work images of violence and other disturbing social issues.

Perry was born into a working-class family, and his interest in ceramics was kindled during childhood. By age 13 he had confided his transvestism to his diary. He studied at the Braintree College of Further Education in Essex and at Portsmouth Polytechnic in Hampshire, but it was not until the early 1980s, when he was living in a squatters’ community in London’s Camden Town, that he returned to the serious study of ceramics by way of evening art classes. At the time, he was appearing in performance pieces and art films and nursing his own aspirations as a filmmaker. He disliked the compromising and collaborating that he felt went hand in hand with filmmaking, however, and when in 1984 the first solo exhibition of his ceramic works—all created in his evening classes—sold well, he made pottery his main art form, though he continued to work in other media. From the 1990s Perry also worked in embroidery, creating such pieces as Mother of All Battles (1996), a woman’s folk costume stitched with ethnic symbols and images of weapons and killings, and Claire’s Coming Out Dress (2000). Perry was also the author of a novel, Cycle of Violence (1992).

Perry achieved celebrity status in 2003 when he won the Turner Prize, one of the art world’s premier honours. His receipt of the award strirred some controversy, not only because he was the first potter to win the prize but also because of his tendency to appear in public as a cross-dresser, frequently as his alter ego, Claire, and often accompanied by his wife and daughter. In 2004 Perry mounted a solo exhibition at the Tate St. Ives museum of modern and contemporary art in Cornwall. The exhibition featured his classically shaped vases, the colourful surfaces of which served as a seductive camouflage for inscribed images and messages that were distinctly at odds with their decorative medium. Domestic violence, child abuse, pedophilia, and cultural stereotypes were some of the troubling themes that the artist habitually explored in these inscriptions. Perry acknowledged his exploitation of the decorative appeal of his pots, describing them as a “guerrilla tactic” under the cover of which “a polemic or an ideology” waited to be discovered. I Want to Be an Artist (1996), the first of his vases to be sold at auction, fetched £36,000, more than twice the presale estimate.

In the midst of such attention, Great Britain’s Channel 4 commissioned Perry to make a television documentary about transvestism. The result, Why Men Wear Frocks, aired in 2005. The following year he published an autobiography, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Girl. Perry subsequently made a number of documentaries for Channel 4, becoming as well known as a television personality as an artist. The programs included All in the Best Possible Taste with Grayson Perry (2012), an exploration of class and taste in England, which resulted in The Vanity of Small Differences (2012), a series of six large tapestries; Who Are You? (2014), a study of identity that led to a series of portraits for the National Portrait Gallery, London; Grayson Perry: All Man (2016), a consideration of the changing perceptions of masculinity in Britain; Grayson Perry: Divided Britain (2017), an examination of Brexit (as the British exit from the EU was popularly known); and Rites of Passage (2018), a reconsideration of how Britons celebrate landmark events. In 2020 Perry filmed Grayson Perry’s Big American Road Trip, in which he traveled across the United States by motorcycle, investigating race, class, and identity. That year he also started the TV series Grayson’s Art Club, showcasing art made by everyday Britons during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Meanwhile, Perry mounted solo exhibitions at major museums on several continents, including the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh (2006), the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Japan (2007), and the MUDAM (Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean) in Luxembourg (2008). For The Walthamstow Tapestry (2009), a textile work that scrolled 49 feet (15 metres) across a gallery wall, Perry arranged a series of detailed images—decoratively inspired by traditional Sumatran batiks but replete with references to contemporary consumer culture—into a sweeping narrative of a human life. In 2015 Perry completed a nearly five-year project with architecture studio FAT on a House for Essex, Wrabness, England, one of a series of vacation homes commissioned by author Alain de Botton’s Living Architecture organization. Resembling a large fairy-tale cabin, the building was designed as a shrine to the fictional character Julie Cope and includes artworks by Perry, including The Essex House Tapestries: The Life of Julie Cope (2015). Perry’s later solo exhibitions included “Grayson Perry: The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever!” (2017) at the Serpentine Gallery, London, and “Grayson Perry: The Pre-Therapy Years” (2020) at the Holburne Museum, Bath, England.

In 2013 Perry was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and received a knighthood in 2023. His other publications included Playing to the Gallery: Helping Contemporary Art in Its Struggle to Be Understood (2014) and The Descent of Man (2016).

I went to the Disney Store on Monday July 6, 2015 and pre-ordered a copy of the Diamond Edition Aladdin Blu-ray combo pack. I got a voucher receipt stapled to a voucher card, and also a set of four full color 10x14 inch lithographs in a folder. The same pre-sale is available online (see below), but doing it at a store means I get to take the lithographs home immediately, instead of waiting until the release date of October 13, 2015 to receive them in the mail. I am to return to the same store to receive my copy of the Aladdin Blu-ray. The scenes in the lithographs are well chosen, and include all the main characters. The folder cover is also very nice, and is based on the cover of the Blu-ray combo pack.

So over the weekend, I was able to purchase a Mezco One:12 Captain Marvel from a fellow collector who was underogoing from downsizing.

I won't beat around the bush - I might be Mezco's worst nightmare. I don't buy many of these, and the ones I pick up don't generally blow the mind of any collector, even hardcore Mezco collectors. But, this is Captain Marvel, and I knew she came with some fun accessories - that coupled with a great price made this purchase a no brainer.

This toy is of course based on the Brie Larson version of the character, and was released not that long ago.. maybe Summer 2020. I just remember it being quite delayed. The actual contents of the box are quite impressive for the $80 USD they asked for (I'll get back to this), especially when all the other figures were about $80 as well.

You get the figure, three total portaits (unhelmeted head, helmeted head, Binary mode helmeted head), eight additional hands, two Photon energy effects for the closed fists, two large Photon fist effects, two Photon Beam effects, Goose, Tesseract, Pager, a leather jacket, and the standard Mezco stand with arm.

In terms of contents, I believe there's more in the Mezco kit than even the Deluxe Hot Toys release, but naturally the quality is much better over in sixth scale land, including the kick ass battery powered light effects.

It's weird, but Captain Marvel was better, the same, and worse at the same time than the typical female Mezco release. You remember how I said it was a good bargain at $80? Well, I suspect that somebody at Mezco crunched some numbers, and realized that yes, it was a great deal. So great, that they probably wouldn't make their intended profit margin at the presale price.

You'll notice from the side-by-side photo next to the Figuarts, Mezco Hela, and Mezco Kitana that Captain Marvel is small. Almost like they did some cost cutting as this would reduce the cost of the bodies, suits, and possibly the jacket. Based on solicitation photos, this was planned from the start, and it's honestly tough to tell without another figure next to her. She always felt like she gave off dwarf vibes, so at least this verifies it.

For those interested, Cate Blanchett is about 5 ft. 8 inches, and Brie Larson is about 5 ft. 6 inches... clearly somebodies math is off and based on looks I'd definitely put my money on Larson being too short.

Also, you'll notice all three figures that can't put their arms at their sides? All Mezco figures.

From an outfit perspective, Captain Marvel is leagues better than the one that came with Hela. Hela is effectively wearing a black body sock with some shiny green trim. The Captain Marvel outfit has more sections where the texture is replicated by synthetic leather, in addition to the gold trim. Furthermore, even the body sock parts have a sheen to them, as opposed to the Performing Arts costume that Hela has. The leather jack has some good tailor work, though the decals might need a bit of resticking depending on your luck.

The helmeted sculpts look pretty good, but the Brie Larson sculpt? It's not as bad as Gal Gadot, but it's nowhere near as good as the Cate Blanchett that came with the Hela figure. It's passable, but due to its looks and overall large size (which makes the squatness of the body even worse) I stick with the helmeted looks.

From an articulation perspective, no surprises whatsoever. Hela had already disappointed me so I was prepared. For the most part, it's alright, as the suit at least lets you use pretty all the body is capable of. You get ankles, single jointed knees, hips with thigh swivel, minor waist swivel combined with slight ab crunch and ability to bend backwards, mid torso joint, standard shoulders, single jointed elbows, wrists, neck, and head.

For whatever reason, the feet are designed such that the socket is on the body, as opposed to the foot. This design limits the range of motion the foot has, which is why all her lunging poses don't look all that great. The rigidness of the shoulders has been, and continues to be, a major pain because you can't bring the arms together closer which combined with the single jointed elbows really limits what you can do with her upper body. The good news is, however, that overall you're still going to get more articulation out of this figure than the Hot Toys release.

Paint work for the most part is pretty good. To my eyes, the flesh coloured parts are just the base plastic. Everything else for Captain Marvel is pretty sharp, including the paint work on the pager and the minute details on her outfit. Now Goose, on the other hand.. body is great but those eyes are just messed up. It's not just the one in my hand either - even the prototype looks walleyed.

Build quality is again a non-issue. The body feels solid with strong joints, and with a little luck breaking pegs is not going to be an issue. As mentioned, the uniform and leather coat are well tailored and stitched. The translucent energy effects are also nicely done, with no rough finishes or fragile bits. All pieces come together nicely.

So there you have it - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Overall though, the Mezco figure is probably the best overall option for a Captain Marvel. It's alright levels of articulation wrapped up in a pretty good outfit and suite of accessories.

That brings my Mezco journey to an end for now. There's rumours that Mezco is making a Black Widow for the movie, and should that actually become a reality it will probably be the next time I revisit this line.

Until next time.

Out of nowhere GameStop has left NorthPark Mall! A very small leasing sign is visible in the gate. I visit NorthPark frequently and this makes me sad, yet happy. Why oh Why did it take so long to close? Were the presale of new games and consoles the only thing keeping you afloat? Everything is digital now and games are downloaded and updated completely without your help. GameStop let you try out games and consoles before you buy them, and therefore capturing your child into "needing" a game or console. Shop Disc Replay in the Sears Wing! Trade in some games you don't play anymore for some new ones. Disc Replay is the JAM!

Only 29 more days until I see Taylor Swift for the first time!!! I have pit tickets and I am beyond stoked. I've been waiting since October and it's almost here!

I know I haven't been uploading a whole lot lately..Part of that is because I haven't been super happy with anything I've made, and also a little bit due to the fact that the end of the school year is ending and that means lots of school work and exams!

As for the cover itself, I'm really happy with this one. I modeled after the Speak Now Tour (CD + DVD) cover, mixed with what the Red Tour book looks like (at the merch stands). I feel like when they do make a cover, it would look something similar to this (pherhaps with a coloured image). I think the grey and white mixed with a little but of reddish-pink looks really great.

Alright, after a novel of a description, I hope you guys like it! Comment? Sure why not..

This is what I came up with for Vday to presale at my new retail store which will finally be opening in Charlotte, NC on February 12th! Woo hoo!

DEMONS & WIZARDS, the side project of ICED EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer and BLIND GUARDIAN singer Hansi Kürsch, will release its third studio album, "III", on February 21, 2020 via Century Media Records. The LP marks the band's first collection of new material in 15 years.

Schaffer states: "I'm excited to be releasing another DEMONS & WIZARDS album after all of these years. I feel like we've put together something really special, and I'm looking forward to hearing what the fans think about it. I'm proud of this album. It's definitely a journey of epic proportions.”

Kürsch adds: "2019 is an extremely exciting year for DEMONS & WIZARDS in general. We have accomplished a lot. A lot! This third album is the peak of our career for sure. Mark my words, you will love this album!"

"III" track listing:

01. Diabolic

02. Invincible

03. Wolves In Winter

04. Final Warning

05. Timeless Spirit

06. Dark Side Of Her Majesty

07. Midas Disease

08. New Dawn

09. Universal Truth

10. Split

11. Children Of Cain

Presales for "III" will kick off December 13.

The "III" recording lineup is:

Hansi Kürsch – Lead and backing vocals

Jon Schaffer - Rhythm and lead guitars, bass guitar, 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, mandolin, keyboards, backing vocals

Guest musicians on "III":

Brent Smedley - Drums

Jim Morris - Additional guitars, backing vocals

Jake Dreyer - Additional guitars

Ruben Drake - Bass

Thomas Hackman, Olaf Senkbeil, John Jaycee Cuipers, Zakery Alexander, Jeff Brant, Todd Plant, Jerome Mazza - Backing vocals

PA'dam chamber choir - Classical choir

Kürsch told Heavy New York about "III": "It will stand out completely. It's 14 years [since the last album] and you can feel that. And we're not even intending to go back and do something which will build on what we did in the past. Still, the roots are there. It's the definition of Jon and me. This cannot be denied, not one single second on this album. But it has a very intense, modern, new feeling to it. It goes away from what we've done in the past."

Added Jon: "Like he said, it's very honest. It's us. There's no question about who it is, but we've grown as individuals and as artists. I think you can hear that. There's a lot of big, huge dynamic range on this album, and it's going to take people on a journey, man. For sure."

During a press conference at this year's Hellfest, Jon stated about the songwriting process for "III": "At the end of [ICED EARTH's] 'Incorruptible' album cycle, I went out to the mountains in Arizona and hiked for a month and spent one week with my [ICED EARTH] bandmates, because we were going on hiatus. So the five of us went out into the desert and stayed together, and then I stayed three weeks by myself and got an enormous amount of power from that and energy from just staying away from the music business and not talking to management. I talked to Hansi about twice, and other than that, I was completely disconnected from everybody, and it was a really great thing. So when I got back to songwriting, it was, like, 'Boom!' Everything went really fast, and I knew there was really, really strong material, and it's good. And the arrangements came, and everything came, and I started sending Hansi stuff. I knew, from an instrumental standpoint, that this is some of the best material I've ever written. And then when he added his stuff on top, it was, like, 'Okay, we have something really special for the people.' And at the end of the day, I actually don't care if you guys love it, because I do, and [Hansi] does. And that sounds harsh, but that's art, and it's honest — it's actually honest. And it's real, and it is actually some of the best material I've written in my entire life, from my standpoint, and what [Hansi has] done, it's killer. And people are gonna be shocked, I think — very pleasantly shocked — by what's coming, honestly."

DEMONS & WIZARDS recently released remastered versions of its first two albums on all digital platforms. Remastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ICED EARTH, QUEENSRŸCHE, SANCTUARY), "Demons & Wizards" (2000) and "Touched By The Crimson King" (2005) were also released as expanded deluxe editions in June. The expanded editions feature liner notes by Kürsch and Schaffer as well as bonus material and were released as a limited-edition digipak, deluxe 2LP with etching and LP booklet as well as digital deluxe editions.
