Geraldine de Baston moderates the session and speakers include Andrea San Gil León, Executive Director, Global Network for Popular Transportation; Hiroaki Yamaguchi, Senior Director of the Transport Sector Office at ADB; Nannette Lafond-Dufour, Chief Impact Officer, Publicis Groupe, President, Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society; Stephen Cotton, General Secretary of the International Transport Workers’ Federation and Umberto de Pretto, Secretary General of IRU. The session explores strategies for supporting and recognising workers, addressing workforce shortages, and improving emergency preparedness in transport systems.

On Sunday evening, August 31, Texas Air National Guard C-130s arrived at Austin's Bergstrom International Airport carrying Louisiana citizens with special medical needs who had been evacuated in advance of Hurricane Gustav.
