I went to see my precious Daddy this morning (Saturday, July 1) and he looked FANTASTIC. You know, minus his hair. ;) Hee hee! He is doing so, so much better when you consider that he could have easily died last week (per what his doctor said, not what I'm saying).
I guess this is day 36 or 37 in the hospital and he has lost a total of FORTY-EIGHT pounds in that amount of time. He is very, very weak, and is still having difficulty eating but he's doing much better and will possibly get to come home on Monday IF he does a good job eating. He has to eat at least three meals a day, and at least five bites out of each of those meals.
He will have physical therapy and is expected to make a full recovery. We still don't know what was going on with him, but hopefully he will never have to go through all of that again.
My Dad is a very active guy. He's 64 and he and my stepmom hike up and down the mountain, and I'm sure you've all seen the photos of me and him loading those rocks. He's not the type to sit in a chair and watch TV. He's got a way to go, but he WILL get there.
Thank you all so much for your emails and your prayers for my Dad and stepmother and our family. They worked! :)
