PRAYERS FOR PEACE AT HOME AND ABROAD

Gold ribbons represent our prayers for the service men and women, around the world, who have lost their lives or been wounded in service to our country. We remember them, and their families and friends.

Blue ribbons represent our prayers for the tens of thousands of civilians around the world who have been affected by conflict and war. We remember them, and their families and friends, as well.

Orange ribbons represent our prayers for the victims of senseless mass shootings in our nation. We remember them, their families and friends, and pray for a day when the potential for such acts of violence will be eradicated.

Green ribbons represent our prayers for peace.

Buddhists light up thousand candles & Oil lamp as religious festival during the "Probarona Purnima" at Bandarban. Probarona Purnima, also known as Ashwini Purnima, is the second largest festival of the Buddhist community. On the occasion Buddhists light and send up 'fanush' (balloons made of colorful papers in a symbolic act of lighting the night sky). Like every year this festival was celebrated with traditional religious festivity recently.

This photo was taken at the Peace Rally that happened in front of one of Guåhan's known Mega Lahi, by my very own lahihu. Damian Mafnas!

The message of prayer has been a constant in the recent days and with the heavy news. To look up to Divine and within myself to assist in the flow of the coming changes in humanity. To choose the higher road for all of the Mother Earth and her inhabitants.

Were we not made special? To love, forgive, and care for ourselves, our loved ones, those different than us, our enemies, and the rest of the inhabitants of Mother Earth? Instead of draining each other dry, sharing the warmth of peace and gratitude with each other and nature. Respect each other and our differences, and find a way to make it work together for ourselves, each other, the land, oceans, the sky and their animal children?

Give thanks that we still have the ability to make these changes for the rest of humanity and the world so that we may live in better harmony than yesterday. Have we really forgotten to do these things?

I'm not perfect, but I am trying to do what is best, not just for myself. But Everyone else that comes within my life. I leave you with today's devotional.

"I am the god of all time and all that is. Seek me not only in morning quietness, but consistently throughout the day. Do not unexpected problems disgrace you from my presences. Instead, talk with me about everything, and watch confidently to see what I will do.

Adversity need not interrupt your communion with me. When things go 'wrong', you tend to rect as if you're being punished. Instead of this negative response, try to view difficulties as blessings in disguise. Make me your refugee by pouring out your heart to me, trusting in me at all times"

-The Dear Divine, The Universe, and the goddess that lives within myself.

"Never forgotten "

A war situation in Israel is current, and not only now.. but for many periods in this country that knows wars, and terrorism, and fights for its existence.

Faith and desire for perpetual peace, not just sometimes, in our country and in the entire world.

May it be so?

I ask myself, is eternal peace possible?

The current state of warfare is reminiscent of 2006, at least from the beginning of Operation "Guardian of the Walls" = " Shomer Hahomot"

At that time, I am a mother, a family woman.. a friend of many... a painter, and a designer who creates a lot and uploads different posts every day.

The war situation brings questions and conflicts on the Internet, and on artists' websites as well.

I personally try to avoid conflicts, I prefer peaceful times.

As a prominent Israeli, I strongly identified with Israel... a fact that Israelis are not aware of.

At that time of life, I am known for not too many Israelis.

2006, following "Guardian of Walls" a thread was opened in the forums:" Prayers for peace". A number of artists are active care and are interested in real peace.

Various artists who know me and prefer not to take part in this thread, send emails of interest and support. And there are those who calm down in posting an image.

After about a thousand posts on the peace thread, a record for a very short period... we had to start another thread, until a ceasefire.

A lot of my work, moved to other lines of prayers in the peace link, at that time.

It should be noted that this type of activity takes additional energies and forces, beyond what is possible in reality.

I am hopeful, for a better world, where there is no need for wars and it is possible to live a calm, healthy, safe life, without any espionage.

Love and prayers for true peace, free of spying or privacy snooping.

First candle for Hanukkah.

Two difficult months in Israel, the "Iron Swords" war.

Unbearable pain of many, when no end to the pain is in sight.

I wish we would get out of the circle of pain to a circle of calm and safety in our regions and the whole world.

Sincere condolences to the victims of bereavement and the injustices of evil.

And the aching heart will be filled with light, like a Hanukkah miracle.

Happy Hanukkah, with good news and relief from all war events.

Prayers for love and peace.

It is difficult to hear the news everyday. Today I've yet to hear from my friends in Istanbul. Please, I pray, let us stop all this violence.

(and its huge! :)

aloha, dear friends, happy 11 11 11 !

want to tell you about this image

the apec conference is going on here in honolulu, with heads of state from 21 countries.

our president, barack obama, arrives today.

on the evening news i heard that hillary clinton ~ whom i hold in heartfelt regard as a human being on this earth who walks the walk ~ tonight was, as our secretary of state, going to host a dinner at a home, now a museum, called "shangri-la".. which is on the cliffside just down the beach from our house (!)

have been overwhelmed with things here, but decided i wanted to see her! (if only just to smile to her :)

threw on the 21-year-old tee-shirt that was given to folks who worked on the 1st presidential campaign for her husband william clinton (it says: "cure for the blues ~ clinton for president" with a picture of him playing the saxaphone :)

then took off to walk over there, streetside.

(though seemingly counter-intuitive to the intention of this conference, i also almost made a sign to take with me, saying something like.. "made in america, not china! & create jobs" .. because everything is now made in china, from medicines to toys to clothing to stoves to everything .. and much of it is poorly-made .. sometimes quite scary in how & of what its all made .. often hideously heedless of animals... and damaging to the environment ...

yet decided that having sign in their faces as they drove in would not be diplomatically helpful for her at dinner tonight with president hu of china.. ;)

there was only 1 other person there at the entrance, no news crews or anyone else! except, moments before her arrival, some secret service and police.

made 1 photo in the seconds she drove in (below)

then came home, walked down to the ocean and photographed a bunch more from there up to the dinner in the gardens - even though my camera froze up again, so nothing could be adjusted.. (yes, i have another broken camera ;) ... and though several images did come out with clarity despite this..

this is the one i chose

because ..

as ever, i only post here if an image speaks to my heart in some way

and this is how this image does ..

above the gathering of leaders from russia, china, japan, south korea, vietnam, the philippines, indonesia, australia,, canada, the united states and on and on ... there appears to be an enormous

green bird looking to the light *

a bird of peace

green for the environment, for healing of our shared planet

≈ ♡ ≈

its veteran's day here today .. and i want to express my deep gratitude to those who have served ..

and also, just as they surely do! .. to voice a prayer for Peace to prevail

everywhere on our Shared Earth *

….in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer.

~Mother Teresa

I don't mean to get political, but 9.11 is still heavily on my mind . . . something I'll never be able to totally process.

I had uploaded this image early in the day with no title nor quotations. Shortly thereafter, a dear friend's young son stopped by with a gift of his breathtaking poetry, already "hand" bound.

I came back to this piece and can't get beyond thoughts of the aftermath.

“[Carl Pope, President of Sierra Club:] Weakening environmental laws is the worst thing Congress could do right now. Instead, our elected representatives should step in and force the Administration to do its job, ... Our government failed to protect Americans from exposure to toxic pollution in the aftermath of the September 11 attack. Now we see a similar failed response to the Katrina hurricane. The public has every right to expect strong action to protect public health in the wake of a national disaster. This is a time for responsible, truly compassionate leadership.”

Particularly on my mind are the upcoming elections and future leadership of our country.

So, with deep compassion, I am leaving this open for view, discussion or passing by!

I love the calligraphic lines, color and black background. For today, I'm still processing yesterday.

Incredibly sad times, and I have few words other than heart felt prayers for France and for peace.

Just because we are of different color or race, it does not stop us from coming together to protect what is sacred.

Marble Collegiate Church

Prayers for Peace

On Sunday, March 19, 2006, the third anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq, the congregation and friends of Marble Collegiate Church began hanging these ribbons on the fence.

Gold ribbons represent our prayers for the thousands of U.S. service people who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for their families and friends. Every Sunday during Worship we pray by name for each soldier lost that week and add their ribbons to the fence afterwards. All are invited to join us.

Blue ribbons represent our prayers for the tens of thousands of Iraqis and Afghanis who have lost their lives, for their families and friends, and for all who have been wounded. The toll of human pain and suffering is impossible to measure.

Green ribbons represent our prayers for peace.

We continue to pray daily. We pray for the wounded. We pray for the day that war is no longer an option.

The world seems to be filled with so much hatred. And yes, it is filled with love. I just wish and pray for more peace and peaceful solutions in the world right now. I realize Syria has had anything but peace lately, but I dearly hate to see an aggressive strike by us or anyone.

PRAYERS FOR PEACE-PARIS OCTOBER 2003 -for the NUIT BLANCHE art event in PARIS-

ADDA DADA lit candles and floated them down the CANAL ST. MARTIN. It was called PRAYERS FOR PEACE. About 250 candles floated in the CANAL, and about 5,000 people saw the event. It was reported in the Paris newspaper the next day. The MINISTER OF CULTURE FOR PARIS wrote me a thank you note which i have framed.

==============================

There was quite a crowd that gathered to see where the candles were coming from.

Sometimes prayers are not answered, hence, ADDA will repeat PRAYERS FOR PEACE until the WAR IS OVER!

FRIDAY : 2011

i was chatting with friends about this and they were very much moved by this event, even without seeing the photos.

sO i DECIDED TO REPOST THESE PHOTOS FROM 2003 nuit blanche IN PARIS. :

Here's a fun story from 2006 about the 2003 event...

on a plane back to san francisco, i was chatting with a guy in the seat next to me. I was trying to explain my DADA ART...You should of seen the BLANK LOOK ON HIS FACE! HAHAHA...

So I thought he might understand, the PRAYERS FOR PEACE art event i did in paris back in 2003.

The woman in front of me overheard the conversation, and stood up and turned around and looked at me completely jaw-dropped & surprized. she said, " My friends in PARIS saw it and CALLED US IN THE USA about it!" They were THERE at the Canal when you did that..they saw it and said it was beautiful. I can't wait to call them I met the artist who did it!"

you can imagine, i was taken aback, and it was i who was then jaw-dropped amazed. she went on to describe the whole scene in detail. Her friends definately were there, for she described the event around the Canal fully.

she was VERY happy to meet me. we chatted a bit. and she thanked me.

i have to say, it was really nice to hear, as well as, it was a complete shock that such a little art project could make such an impact on people.

the guy sitting next to me smiled but one could tell, he just didn't get it in anyway or form. some folks are just not open to art or peace. we didn't talk the rest of the flight. hahah

I discovered this past Thursday that students from a high school, near where I work, had laid out these flags and markers as part of a tribute to the American military men and women who have died in Iraq and in Afghanistan. This is the third year the school community has participated in this "Arlington Project". While there taking photos, the Principal of the school approached me. In talking with him about this he said that the students had to add an additional six rows to honor those who had died since last year's tribute. Each of the little white markers bears the name of one who has died in service to the United States. Monday is recognized as "Memorial Day" - a National Holiday in this country.

This was very significant part in the mobilization of opposition to the continuity of the war in Sri Lanka. This particular vigil was convened in Parramatta, western Sydney in 2007

This is a memorial located outside of the Marble Collegiate Church in NYC. It's a series of ribbons and names tied to the fence surrounding the church. The ribbons are prayers.

I had this photo on my desk for a number of weeks after I took it. It wasn't quite the photo I was looking to take. It was a striking memorial, but what I really wondered was who was PFC Katie Soenksen? It was a Greeblemonkey photo contest with a loose theme of "thankfullness" that hit me. So, I Googled Katie.

She was born in Iowa in 1987 and was killed in Iraq in 2007. She was 19 years old when a IED exploded near her vehicle.

What am I thankful for? Our soldiers, my friends, and Katie.

Each of the yellow ribbons respresents a soldier killed in the War on Terror. I don't recollect what the blue and green ribbons represent.
