Stanmer Park - Double exposure of the bluebells (1) and a tree (2) I need to read my manual and see which shot dominates and if I can change to lightness on different frames.

Practicing portraits indoors. Vicky poses one afternoon.

A Oregon cheerleader does a leg hold while practicing her cheers.

To be clear, Roxy does not need any practice going after her toy or coming back for the reward (she LOVES Cheerios).

The practice session is for me. Using my new(ish) Voigtlander lens for action shots. It is a manual focus lens so, I need the practice. Been a long time since I have had a manual focus lens so getting in some practice with one of my fav models.

Hey, for Cheerios Roxy will let me practice all day!!!

In case you are wondering, it is an old tried and true technique, prefocus an area where you know the action will be passing through. Continuous high speed and use an f/stop for bigger depth of field. People get too caught up in AF and VR... I grew up with film cameras where Auto Focus and VR were considered science fiction... And VR is just something that will eventually break in a lens...

Evey and I practicing for the race tomorrow!

I finished my place-mat practice. I need to take a small break from quilting and make a dress for my dd who is going to a Father/Daughter Ball. I was working on the last of the quilts when dh asked how the dress was coming and made me feel very guilty. The quicker I finish the dress then the quicker I can get back to this!

You just KNEW that the three prior photos of dogs were a set-up for this image, right?

On the 21st May 2017 a HST heads to Paddington at Cockwood.

This man or woman, i am really not sure =), was taking a shot of the sail.

i knew it because i was standing at the same position before i went up to take this shot.

i guess i am at the right place and the right time.

As soon as the generals and the politicos

can predict the motions of your mind,

lose it. Leave it as a sign

to mark the false trail, the way

you didn't go.

Be like the fox

who makes more tracks than necessary,

some in the wrong direction.

Practice resurrection.

The quote above is an except from a wonderful poem by Wendell Berry entitled, "Manifesto:

The Mad Farmer Liberation Front". I highly recommend you read it, in particular out loud. It's a remarkable poem, both content-speaking and in terms of flow: the fast-slow cadence, the words that roll and tumble about in your head, and the all too serious humor contained within.

This was taken last Spring, and was one of the many cherry tree images that I have left to post. It was, of course, taken with the Hasselblad 500 C/M.

When young osprey are learning to fly they exaggerate their moves especially when they land. This is a learning curve for them but great opportunities for us as photographers. This guy made three attempts to get to this nest until he finally figured it out.

These are two of my last face-ups for my friends Nhaya and Misaki. I want to improve my face-ups so I'm practicing a lot, but when a face-up needs feckles, I always have so much fun! I love to see BJD skin as realistic skin. Thank you so much to Nhaya & Misaki!

Mallard chick giving his wings a workout in preparation for the first flight. The beak seems to be growing faster than the wings. That's not surprising given that the beak does not stop the whole day.

I'm going to the UK on Thursday to have a course with Eddie Spence MBE! Sooooo excited... :)

It's a dream coming true!!!!

Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018

The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.

The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services

The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

I am getting ready for the total solar eclipse event coming up on April 8th. I will be heading down to Texas for that, so I can get into the path of totality.

The last full eclipse happened in my state of Oregon back in August 21, 2017. I was simply awestruck at the site of it, so I just had to make a trip down to see it again. It will be the last full solar eclipse I will see in my life time!

An old man was changing his wear to start practice on stairs.

I don't know how long he have kept his work.

It looked something ceremony.
