Powerhouse @ Stave Lake
Stave Falls Dam is a dual-dam power complex on the Stave River in Stave Falls, British Columbia, Canada . The dam was completed in 1912 for the primary purpose of hydroelectric power production. To increase the capacity of Stave Lake, the dam was raised in 1925 and the Blind Slough Dam constructed in an adjacent watercourse 500 m (1,600 ft) to the north, which was the site of the eponymous Stave Falls. In 2000, the dam's powerhouse was replaced after a four-year upgrade. The powerhouse was once British Columbia's largest hydroelectric power source and is a National Historic Site of Canada.

Steam plus a loco this time and, for me, the star of the show on the East Lancs this last weekend (sorry "Flying Scotsman" fans).
Effortlessly and unceremoniously doing its job with masterful presence is Bullied West Country Pacific 34092 "City of Wells" resplendent with the Golden Arrow adornment. It doesn't get much better.
A bit traditional this one but I could just be encouraged to get into this kettle lark.

As the crow flies, we are about 95 miles due west of Colorado Springs. Wednesday evening the Front Range of Colorado had severe storms with flooding rain and crazy hail. Numerous people were hospitalized who were attending a concert at Red Rocks near Denver. This was but one in a many miles long line of storms that stretched from northeast of Denver to south of Colorado Springs clearly visible to us 100 miles to the west just after sunset. Obvously I zoomed in, but even so it was very prominant to the naked eye.

Goldenrods are not just pretty – they also offer edible and medicinal benefits to people, and sustenance to creatures living in and visiting your garden, which is crucial as the season (and climate) changes

Goldenrod – 2020OCT02 – Charlotte, NC
I harvested goldenrod and made gallons of goldenrod tea today!
Goldenrod is indigenous to the United States of America; not a single state is devoid of at least one native goldenrod species. The Latin name Solidago translates as “becoming whole”. Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus applied it to the genus in 1753, acknowledging the plant’s renowned medicinal qualities.
Native bees and other insects depend on goldenrod pollen, so I left the goldenrod in our backyard, harvesting only from the front yard.
The first time I made and drank goldenrod tea, I got happy, also happy the next time, finally figuring out the obvious correlation to goldenrod, looked it up: benefits include being a mood enhancer!
Hope you enjoy this 9% of 76 "just goldenrod" captures I took today!

I decided to swap the early morning for a late night out on Friday. A nice little loop around the back of Eastham Oil Refinery :)
I couldn't resist a little wander around Eastham Docks Substation and the eeriness of the place at night made for a good stop for a photo.
The photo shows the Swedish rock powerhouse Greenleaf on a show during a rock festival in Wiesbaden, Germany.
