1,200 MW Coal-fired Power Station in East Lothian near Edinburgh on the Firth of Forth. Designed in 1959 as the largest coal power station in Great Britain. Worked from 1967 - 2013. Now being dismantled.

Update - was demolished by explosion on 26 September 2015.

The Rosendale Dairy biodigester in Pickett, Wisconsin (north of Rosendale) generates electricity from a 1.4 megawatt generator, which is fueled by methane-rich biogas produced from a natural process of anaerobic digestion of the manure from more than 8,000 dairy cows. The plant was financed by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Foundation in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and sits on one of the largest dairy farms in Wisconsin. The plant was sold to a private-sector firm in 2018, and is no longer affiliated with the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Foundation or the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Wind energy has immense potential, but is still only a tiny fraction of American generating capacity.

Twas a cold day and my trusty model was asked to sit while I got my picture, was he happy; probably not.

The Paiton power generation complex is a group of several modern coal fired power plants in Java (Indonesia)

All too often we tend to forget that our electricity is not such a "clean" energy.: Most of it comes from power plants just like this one, burning fossil fuel and releasing huge amount of CO2 in our atmosphere.

Windy Hill was the first wind farm to be constructed in Queensland. Construction commenced in 1999 with turbine commissioning in 2000. The wind turbines were supplied by German company Enercon.

Windy Hill Wind Farm will reduce Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions by up to 25,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year.

Windy Hill Wind Farm produces 12 megawatts of electricity from 20 turbines, or enough energy to supply 3,500 homes – equivalent to the towns of Atherton and Mareeba.

The land around the wind farm is owned by local farmers who have entered into lease access agreements with Transfield Services Infrastructure Fund.

The turbines are mounted on tubular towers 44 metres high, the hub height is 46 metres with a rotor diameter of 46 metres. The blades pitch to optimise the power produced and to control the rotational speed.

The Enercon E40 turbines were manufactured in Germany. Each generator has an electrical capacity of 600 kilowatts.

The development of the wind farm included an underground 22 kilovolt electrical reticulation system, customer SCADA system and wind monitoring system.

The wind farm was commissioned in August 2000, at a cost of $20 million.

Who might that be making a sneaky cameo appearance in Sky One's COBRA 🤔... Next stop Hollywood!

Not the way forward (the windfarm that is).

Stony Creek Wind Farm near Shanksville, Pennsylvania (6-23-2021). I delivered a main shaft and returned the old shaft to South Dakota for refurbishment. This was the first time in years I'd been in this region, for I am rarely so far east of the Mississippi River.

The images below in the comments show the old main shaft on the trailer ready to return to Sioux Falls, SD, as well as the crane that is mounted atop the nacelle that lifts and lowers all the pieces. A special fixture is mounted to the new main shaft (the yellow part), then it is raised to the face of the nacelle facing the opposite direction, the fixture is then bolted to the old shaft in order to pull it out, then both new and old are turned 180 degrees to install the new shaft before lowering the old to the ground.

A two bay covered hopper of fly ash sits on its side, a casualty of a derailment that occurred when a wheel picked a grade crossing. Intermountain Power ships loaded trains of fly ash, a byproduct of burning coal.

These 15 wind turbines(called Vestas NM82) provide a total of almost 25 MW of power and is part of the Luzon Island grid in the Philippines. Height of these windmills is 70 meters. Each of the three blades has a length of 41 meters. The wind swept area of the rotors is approximately 5,280 square meters.

Location of this turbines is at Pebble Beach, in the shores of Bangui Bay, Ilocos Norte province. This turbines is the first power plant of its kind in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
