Eumenes fraternus is a species of potter wasp in the subfamily Eumeninae of the family Vespidae. It is native to the eastern United States and Canada. The female builds a miniature pot out of mud in which it lays an egg and places a live caterpillar. Its developing larva feeds on this whereas the adult wasp feeds primarily on nectar.

Happy Wing Wednesday!

The sunrise was uneventful but this cloud bank lit up towards the south away from the sun. The wonderful sandstone rock formations on the cliffs at Potter Point are a great foreground.

Sunlit craggy crevices at Potter Point my go to spot for photos with so many interesting compositions.

One of the most challenging n difficult shot, due to dark place I was not able to see it, so focusing was tricky indeed. I have been trying to capture since last 5 years... not a perfect one but I do not expect better than this :(

This really sums up the weather in the last month, but today we have heavy rain & high winds.

Happy New Year!

This Northern Pintail drake was swimming in the channel at Potter Marsh. I'd love to catch one who hasn't gotten that beautiful white chest dirty from dabbling ;)

Sorting through photos came across this one from last year. I believe it is one of the Potter wasps possibly Ancistrocerus species.

Confirmation of ID would be very welcome.

This first-summer male Red-winged Blackbird is mainly brown, like an adult female, but shows the red epaulets that give the species its common name. This individual was seen at Third Vermilion Lake in Banff National Park. That protected area in the Canadian Rockies in Alberta was the country’s first national park, originally established in 1885.

Just got my lenses back from repair after dropping them last week. Luckily Tamron has a 3 day turn around. I've learned a very valuable lesson. ALWAYS make sure that your camera bag is zipped closed before you pick your bag up.
