Eumenes fraternus is a species of potter wasp in the subfamily Eumeninae of the family Vespidae. It is native to the eastern United States and Canada. The female builds a miniature pot out of mud in which it lays an egg and places a live caterpillar. Its developing larva feeds on this whereas the adult wasp feeds primarily on nectar.

This Northern Pintail drake was swimming in the channel at Potter Marsh. I'd love to catch one who hasn't gotten that beautiful white chest dirty from dabbling ;)

SCOTLAND
The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a viaduct on the West Highland Line railway in Glenfinnan, Scotland. It was built between 1897 and 1901 and is located at the northern end of Loch Shiel.
The West Highland Railway connects Fort William and Mallaig and was a crucial route for the local fishing industry, and more generally for the economy of this mountainous region, which suffered greatly after the Highland Clearances of the 1800s.
Become world famous thanks to the work of J. K. Rowling, it is indeed the bridge through which the Hogwarts Express passes in the Harry Potter saga.

A Pacific Loon duo displays striking synchronicity, highlighting their beautiful plumage. These birds were seen near Churchill in northern Manitoba, Canada.

A female Red-breasted Merganser paddles with its large feet to help get airborne. This individual made a rare winter appearance in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, for an extended period, spending its time on open stretches of the Bow River.
The Coastal Classic is northbound along the Turnagain Arm near Potter during the late evening. The Kenai Mountains loom in the distance on the other side of the arm. Thanks to Brice and Frank for all the intel on this week to help find trains in the gaps of a family trip.
The fresh and clean SD70M's pull past Potter Street station with one of several set overs of their train from Flint. A group is slowly working on cleaning up and fixing up the insides of the station and hopefully they will make great headway in restoring it.

Townsend’s Solitaire is a member of the Thrushes family, and like other Solitaire species (found further south in the New World) has a beautiful song with flute-like qualities. The common name commemorates John Townsend, an American naturalist of the 19th Century (whose name was also given to Townsend’s Warbler; see my photo www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/50626825418/in... ). The grey plumage is elegant but understated, with the added field marks of a bold white eye ring and white outer tail feathers. This individual was seen near Rosetown, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Potter has been one of my favorite dog shots to date. He had a very calm way and such a quiet penetrating stare. He looked wise.
