Happy Birthday to the United States Postal Service.
On July 26, 1775, the U.S. postal system was established by the Second Continental Congress, with Benjamin Franklin as its first postmaster general. Franklin (1706-1790) put in place the foundation for many aspects of today's mail system.
The Whippany Railroad Museum had a Railroad Festival on July 27 thru 31, 1994 in the Morristown & Erie Railroad Yard. The Whippany Railroad Museum is located beside the M & E Railroad Yard at the intersection of Whippany Road and State Road 10 in Whippany, which is a community in Hanover Township. The Mailing Address of the Museum is 1 Railroad Plaza, Whippany, New Jersey 07981.
This particular Photograph shows the L.S.Young Trucking Company of Denville, New Jersey's Coal Dump Truck on Display at the Railroad Festival.

An old Swedish Postal Service van slowly rots away. I used Color Efex Pro 4 in post on this one. I fell in love with this shot so I thought I'd share it :0)

Massive piping, a rear spoiler and hefty diffuser suggest this Long Life USPS delivery truck is about to put down some epic course runs. A few last minute packages need to be delivered and then this thing’s hittin’ the track!!!

When my son was a Toddler, we visited Washington D.C. August 1994, so that he could learn about the United States and see all of the Landmarks, Buildings, Museums in our Capitol.
One of the Museums that we visited, was the US Post Office Museum. These Particular Photographs show two views of a Postal Delivery Truck, which was on display in the museum. This Museum is located at 2 Massachusetts Ave. NE, Washington, DC 20002.

This is not the same company as D. Laursen (Asbo)/Landbrug v/Doris Nielsen Laursen shutting down in february 2019 after bankruptcy... this one was established in the very same month, not in Asbo like the other one, but in nearby Andst and although it also is owned and operated by a D. Laursen, this one is named Dennis, while the other one was owned and operated by a Doris Laursen, so probably husband/wife, mother/son or something like that.

In 2009 Post Danmark merged with swedish Posten AB, but no visible changes were made to the vehicles until 2016, when it was announced, that the new colour scheme would be blue and white (to match the swedish vehicles) and the name Post Danmark would be phased out in favour of Post Nord.
Severe financial problems meant, that updating the vehicle liveries would take low priority, and over a year later, the majority of vehicles still retained their original liveries.

These Postal vans are still an everyday sight and there are lots of them in use but I wonder how much longer that will continue. The newest ones are 21 years old!

Going down the steep hill leading northeast into Aarhus. The motorway ends by Åhavevej
in Viby. From here, the trucks can continue straight on to Marselis Boulevard across
Skanderborgvej before ending at the port of Aarhus, 6 km from here.
