There’s something distinctly otherworldly about Dungeness (Kent, UK). It might have something to do with the strange combination of a nuclear power station, battered fishermen’s huts, lighthouses, fishing boats in decomposition, the ‘acoustic mirrors’, concrete oddities and the largest expanse of shingle in Europe. Dungeness is simultaneously a desolate dystopian land and a place of awe-inspiring beauty.

This is a composite of six photos of real buildings (or parts of them) which I shot at the amazing Hayden Tract in Culver City, California.
I have repositioned, distorted, painted and otherwise manipulated them not-quite-beyond recognition, but close. The parrot in the tire swing is, of course, complete fiction ;-).
A post-apocalyptic wasteland, its water polluted by toxic chemicals – this forms the setting of an incredible and revealing photographic story installation at Toksik Jello. An Intriguing Tale of Social Politics.
