Fokker Friendships were never that plentiful at Heathrow, but back in 1973 Air France brought one in from Strasbourg Monday to Friday on flight AF938.

These Friendships were mainly used on domestics and also on mail services.

But internet records suggest that when I photographed this aircraft it was on the fleet of TAT (Transport Aerien Transregional) so maybe they flew it on behalf of Air France?

Times have certainly changed and these days Strasbourg is only served from the UK by a seasonal Ryanair flight from Stansted.

The General's Residence was demolished on 8/25/2020 to make room for a replica building. During the demo, the architect supervised the removal of significant features such as these beams and posts. These pieces will be used in the reconstruction or kept for other display.

Last week I posted a pic of the classic 1986 Vipers, here we see one 10 years after World War III devastated the Earth.

In my post apocalypse setting the story is that Cobra Commander and a legion of Cobra troops were safely aboard Cobra Space Station when the bombs fell. But the Commander decided to conveniently forget about Major Bludd and his battalion stranded on the surface.

So this custom represents one of Bludd's faction, now raiders with degrading equipment and far fewer numbers than they started with. They pillage and terrorize, and even trade shots with "original" Cobras that come down from orbit occasionally.

I had previously put together about half a dozen customs for this concept in 2016, but decided to revisit and improve the ranks with figures that were part Cobra and part Mad Max.

Not much satisfied but well, at least I've got it finished XD

The Philippine Post Office Building, the center of Philippine postal services and the headquarters of the then-Bureau of Posts, was completed in its present-day Neo-Classical style in 1926, it was destroyed during World War II. It was rebuilt in 1946, after the war.

The Roads Campaign Council, an umbrella group that comprised a wide range of parties interested in road transport, was backed by the British Road Federation and seems to have been active in the post-war years as road transport began to grow and investment in roads was seen as being tardy. The 1950s saw the serious development of schemes for major routes such as motorways and ambitious plans for new roads as part of urban redevelopments and these would, of course, be brought to fruition in the 1960s onwards.

The Campaign seem to have issued a series of publciity or propaganda booklets and this is called "Roads Matter - Scotland" and this makes you wonder if other regional booklets in the same format were issued? I have similar booklets issued by them for specific groups of English towns. The twenty page booklet has text and a series of images showing congestion in urban areas, such as Glasgow, Stirling and Dunfermline as well as 'dangerous roads' such as the A74 Anglo-Scottish trunk road and the A77, the route from Glasgow into Ayrshire.

The photos are of good quality and show street and roadscapes now lost along with many contemporary vehicles and period features that prove to make for fascinating research! I've scanned and posted a selection. The book credits a designer - John Denison-Hunt FSIA - and although not dated appears to be 1957.

Another Austin makes its way along the A9 here close to Ballinluig showing the 'county lane' nature of much of the old road through the Highlands at the time. The text discusses many of the old main roads around Glasgow and into Lanarkshire and Ayrshire.
