A colourful array of umbrellas in Durham - Smile on Saturday

An autumn forest is such a place that once entered you never look for the exit!

~ Mehmet Murat ildan

Zoom in and take a look around :)

For the "Looking close... on Friday!" topic "Round in Vertical Photo"

A small clementine peeled and ready to eat! They are small (only 5 cm across) and they come with leaves attached. That makes them doubly attractive - as I love to photograph them as well as eat them! ;o)

And I thought of the song ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqZgyX0sUnQ

Have a happy weekend, and stay safe!

Hooray, the campsite we go on - Churchtown Farm is opening for the summer and we pitch our van high at the back of the field with a view out to Godrevy - ok its not this view exactly but we can walk to this in just a few minutes....

As you can see the tide is in and water just starting to leave splashes close to my feet on the bone dry rocks.

Taken on tripod as I took some LE shots here but this is so typical and the view that brings back a million memories...........

……Evening light on the Physocarpus down the garden - Broom providing a colourful blurry backdrop here, taken on my phone in Portrait mode and opened up to f2.8 and edited in Lightroom for ’Smile on Saturday’, the theme being "SMALL PART SHARP". Once again the phone has excelled in doing what I asked of it! HS😊S, Alan:-)

Happy Caturday 12/23/23 - the theme this week is a tribute to our kitties who are no longer with us….

This was taken almost exactly 3 years ago. She was a beautiful and loving LBC, little black cat, named Shadow. A lap cat and my boon companion!!

I miss her greatly!

……btw, I didn’t realize we could post 2 pictures each week to happy caturday!!

HSS- i was explaining to someone the other day that "virtual dusting" can be a very soothing occupation/task, so i decided to dust the LBC, little black cat, using the cloning tool in picmonkey (there are probably easier techniques in other post processing programs but i kinda like this one). yes, that is a reflection of me wearing a tie-dyed hoodie in her eye.

.....i'll put the original in the first comment box, so you can see what she looked like before.... btb, picmpnkey removes the EXIF data unfortunately

Me again Monday— check the reflection in her eye... giggling

I like the emptiness...

How awesome was it that this bird decided to fly away right as I was taking the photo? Maybe it heard my DSLR clicking away.

A tropical bird from Down Under. After a few safaris at Currumbin, our final stop was the lorikeets. And we fed them and they climbed on our hands, arms, and heads. I forget what the concoction was that we was feeding them, but they gave us a good show to say the very least!

We were once again out enjoying dinner on the beach when my wife said, "we had better hurry, you will need time to setup." Noticing the sun was about to go down and knowing I wanted a shot on the pier, it was time to leave the beach. We loaded the car and made for the pier which was only minutes away. When we arrived, it was a new location for her and she asked if it was ok to enter the shot. "Yes, I am counting on it", I responded. She took her position at the end of the pier, gave that little body gesture needed to show it is a person and we waited for the magic.

I shot in landscape mode and took about 10 shots. Then I thought it best to take one in portrait mode for good measure. One and only one. Of the 11 shots, this was the best. The most simple, the most uncluttered, and the one that puts the attention on the sky, using the pier as the leading line. Except for the sky, it was very dark and the image illustrates that well.

ENG: Good morning Berlin! When the city awakens and the eyes finally discover snow, winter is finally in Berlin. Now I'm finally off work and enjoy the scenario at the world time clock at Alexanderplatz in Berlin's Mitte district.

Taking pictures of the Tall Trees Trail in Tasmania. Never heard of a clinometer prior to then, and if I had, it slipped my mind. I caught some good angles of the trees. I used my iPhone in Portrait Mode and I was pleased with the outcome of this image!

This is for you, Don Cannan. I met your friend Julia at her 6 yo granddaughter's birthday party. She saw me walking around with my camera in hand and asked if I was in a camera club. She confessed that she was in TWO camera clubs and proceeded to show me her photos on her phone.

When I heard that she lived in Victor Harbour and was active in the camera club there, I had to ask after Don and didn't you know it, she was best buddies with him from a long time ago.

I took this photo to demonstrate the power of the iPhone Portrait Mode which lets you use a DOF slider to blur out the background. We tried doing this on her Android phone but were unsuccessful.
