This friendly blue jay might be the same one I photographed a couple days ago at it tried to hide behind a tree branch. It seemed pleased to pose for a portrait today and wanted to say that not all blue jays are big bad bullies.

I guess this male Baltimore oriole didn't care to be outdone by his orchard oriole cousin and so decided to pose for his portrait today.

Took a break for a few days...hope you're all well. :) I am so behind that I probably won't be able to catch up with my contacts.

Inspired by Inside Man.

pssst...I turn 34 today...guess it would've made sense to take a self portrait today but I am not really an SP artist. ;-)

This little guy has been terrorizing my husband’s bait pile. He’s been feasting happily on beets, apples and corn. He’s gotten quite chubby. I’m fondly referring to him as Chubs, my husband’s pet squirrel. I think my husband has other choice names for him though, haha. 😉

My daughter was not sure she wanted me take her portrait today during her visit as she had not planned on it and had limited make-up on ... but I told her LIghtroom had a new texture brush for reducing and adding to texture. It has been nice so far adding some texture detail to bird feathers and water flow for waterfalls, but wanted to try it out with reducing skin details but keeping it looking still 'real'.

The results applied here at various levels on her face turned out pretty natural looking I think.

Also have me change to use the 70/200 f2.8 lens. Great for portraits.

Thoughts?

Had Boo pose in front of the hydrangeas for her portrait today. She was very serious about her task . . . she wanted some chicken!

I spent some time trying to get Teddy and Echo to pose for portraits today. They are getting a bit better at sitting together and actually looking in the general direction of the camera - provided I have a pocket full of treats!

Found this Old Self Portrait Today Looking Young and All Posey. Taken at Age 21 on Ilford HP5+. I am no longer 21 lol (I wish!).

I have rarely taken portraits/pictures of myself over the years. Even on mobile phones. I never liked being the subject. I hated it in fact haha! I could never ever relax in front of the camera and still can't. I feel like a clown. And act like one too I think :/ I much much prefered/prefer being the Photographer where I felt/feel much more at ease. How do people do it?! Anyway in this one I thought I looked pretty cool so it's nice to look back after all these years! Glad I took it now :)

Film: Ilford HP5+. 35mm 400 iso

Lighting: one studio flash light for back lighting. And one wall light.

Took a couple of days to shoot this one. The hallway photo I took yesterday and then the multiple self portraits today. The photoshopping the scenes together I also did today.

Week 2 of 52

Playing with one of my favorite subjects, eggs. Although I really wanted and tried to do a self portrait today but as much as I want to love myself with all of my flaws, complete self acceptance isn't within me yet. So instead, I am posting eggs which now feels like a bit of a cop out.

Soft morning light, grungy glass, crusty metal. I did not see the surrealist pareidolia when I took the photo. Someone please drag a box around the freckle-faced Picassoesque cartoon portrait. Today is one of those days when I can’t add notes.

Happy Fence (trust me) Friday!

This busy little ant got in the way of my flower portrait today, and I like him better than the flower. He's a worker, just like me.

It is both Phill and Kaiser's birthday tomorrow and, as I always post a Furry Friday photo, I thought I would post Kaiser's official birthday portrait today. He is 14 years old tomorrow. We won't discuss how old Phill is - lol. I have had my 'baby boy' since he was six weeks old: of course he was a lot smaller then *cough*. Here he was sitting in the kitchen, on his special stool, waiting to be fed. He needs the stool to jump up onto the counter these days.

So Happy Furry Friday everyone.

We still have high temperatures - last night we were down the coast at 11.30pm trying to catch a breeze. There were a few others there watching the big moon.

Wishing you all a happy and cool weekend

it's my dad's birthday today, wish I could be there to celebrate with him... anyway I'll be in Berlin for the weekend =)

no self-portrait today, I had some ideas but they didn't work out, I'll try again tomorrow

Thank you so very much [sem qtr] for your sweet testimonial!! It made me very happy =)

My flute sat on top of one of my favourite music books. It is Time Pieces for Flute Volume 1, and the piece that the flute is covering is Brother Come and Dance With Me, by Humperdinck, which I played for one of my exams a few years ago now, and even though I can play much more complex things now, I love to go back to the short, simple pieces now and then.

We have had a whole week of 2017! How is it going for everyone else? For myself it is better than 2016 already - I feel happier and almost motivated.

I noticed today that although I said I would not be following the themes, this week I have with the majority of images introduced myself. You now know that I speak, read and write in Hebrew, I do ballet, I am bright and colourful, although you would not know it to look at me, and I play the flute. It is not the traditional way of introducing oneself, but it is my way. I am not what I look like, I am what I do. Although I was going to do a self-portrait today. I think that will have to wait until tomorrow, or even later.

I couldn't find inspiration for faceless portraits today but whilst thinking about things around the idea of heads but not faces I thought of pins. So my favourite reflective surface came to my aid.

Posting and running for now. I will catch up with your photos later tonight.

I still have many photos to sort through from Brazil, and a lot of them showcase the incredible variety we saw there. I keep coming back to jaguars though. They were the primary focus of the trip. The volume of photographs I have containing jaguars seems to support that fact. I'm posting a few portraits today and will share some photos of active jaguars in the weeks ahead.

First shoot since the first lockdown and hopefully not the last before another kicks in! Autumn vibes shooting with Tennessee Perkins in Holland Park.

The We're Here! gang is manipulating portraits today.

Today I'm showing you a portrait of an bald eagle.

It was in a wildlife park during a flight demonstration. But photographically it wasn't good. So I'm just showing you a portrait today.

With winter well on it's way, this is possibly the coldest I've ever been on a shoot before. I figured I couldn't ask a model to get in the water so I had to shoot this as a self portrait. Today, I dragged an old college friend along with me to a local water reservoir. We met over 3 years ago through photography so it was a lot of fun to dive back into it (literally haha). I will be sharing a behind the scenes image soon on how this was shot, so have a look on my instagram for daily uploads!

So, unintentionally, I think I captured a rather Canadian portrait today. The geese in the background and the inukshuk really bring out the Canadian scenery.

It's also difficult to see, but I am indeed sporting a lumberjack plaid shirt under that jacket... and yes it is red.

Hope everyone has had a good Monday!

Posed street portrait taken for my 100 Strangers project in Glasgow, Scotland.

This picture is #77 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

I saw Jim sitting on a concrete bollard and decided to approach, knowing that his interesting look would make for a great portrait. I simply told him that I was "out making street portraits today" and he told me that he couldn't afford it - you would be surprised how many people assume that you are asking for money! Once I explained that he gets a free portrait and I get some free on-location portrait practice, he was more than happy to go ahead.

I captured Jim in-situ, on the bollard, as I liked the light and background where he was and shot from both directions for some variety, including a rather intense close-up which I will post another time. All using natural light only and asking Jim to move his arms into quite a strange pose in order to narrow his shoulders down in the final image - he was happy to do this.

Jim was passing time with some people watching before meeting up with his partner later, he told me that he never imagined his face to be photogenic. Telling me that he had broken his nose at least four times but only mentioning one time where he had fallen over drunk, I can't imagine what the other breakages were caused by. Only after the brief shoot had I noticed that just before meeting Jim, a seagull had deposited a huge mess over my camera bag and down the back of my shoulder - they do say that it is lucky you know! Given the number of gulls, pigeons and starlings zipping around Glasgow I am surprised that this is the first time I ever got hit!

I thanked Jim and with him unable to find his email address on his mobile phone, I gave him my details and card and will gladly share the images if or when he gets in touch. Thank you for taking a few moments out of your day Jim, and for pulling some funny poses with your arms to sharpen up the image somewhat.

Enjoy!

Another set and colour grade from the Blackfriars shoot with Basia. A set of steps with warm lighting in the background made for a good setting as the sun and temperature was quickly dropping.

Sorry for the crappy upload. Im currently doing my trials at school and have had no time at all for shooting, no self portrait today, so another step in a different direction for me.
