'Popeye Village Malta', the Film Set of the 1980 Musical Production “Popeye”, also known as 'Popeye Village' today is one of Malta's major tourist attractions. The film set was constructed in Anchor Bay during the last 7 months of 1979.
To construct this authentic wooden village, tree trunk logs were trailered overland from Holland, and wood shingles, used in the construction of the roof tops, were imported all the way from Canada. A 165 international construction crew consumed eight tons of nails and two thousand gallons of paint to finish off this massive Set.
No less than 20 wooden structures had to be built. Before construction could begin, an access road leading to the Set had to be constructed. Also, Anchor Bay needed a 200-250 foot Breakwater at its mouth, to protect the Set from high seas during the shooting months of the Film Production. Filming commenced on the 23rd of January, 1980.

Saturday when we took Chip to Chuckie Chesses he had a ball. I told him to smile for me and this is what I got. It reminded me so much of Popeye. I laughed till I cried. I just love this!

At Popeye's, a fried chicken fast food chain originally from Louisiana...that's why they like all the bright colors!

Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village, is a purpose-built film set village, now converted into a small attraction fun park, consisting of a collection of rustic and ramshackle wooden buildings. It is located at Anchor Bay, 3 kilometres (2 mi) from the village core of Mellieħa, Malta.
It was built as a film set for the production of the 1980 live-action musical feature film Popeye, produced by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Productions starring Robin Williams. Today it is open to the public as an open-air museum and sea-side resort.
I think one of the most baffling experiences I've had in my travels is visiting "Popeye Village" in Malta. At first when I arrived to Malta and saw brochures for this, I thought it was an actual village that earned the nickname "Popeye Village" because of the 1980 Robin Williams Popeye movie having been filmed there. But later I find out it's actually the set that was built for the movie which is now converted to a Popeye Theme Park complete with Popeye characters walking around in costume with a thick Maltese accent.

Tutto quello che so di Loro è che si amano e aspettano ....visto che Bruto è stato assunto al comitato scentifico e sceglie Lui quando separarli e unirli e Poldo è entrato in politica, facendo collassare l'economia culinaria mangiando hamburger take away....
Ricordate di essere forti sempre quanto un piatto spinaci nel nostro immaginario di ragazzini, è stato un anno tosto per la salute e la mente...
Pensiamo alle cose belle.
Abbiamo solo la certezza della mutanda rossa che si abbina con ogni regione stasera.
