In the Middle Ages, the mendicant friars were at the vanguard of evangelization in the cities and universities of Europe, and they revitalised the intellectual life of Christendom.
This weekend, the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) begin their 800th Jubilee celebrations, thanking God for the graces received since Pope Honorius III confirmed St Dominic's foundation of the Order in 1216.

We took an anniversary day trip to Living History Farms. This is some of what we saw there.
The Pope came to Living History Farms October 4, 1979. When we were there Sunday, it was the 30th Anniversary of this visit and my 4th Anniversary with my husband.
This quilt was made to commemorate the pope's visit. I like to pretend that it was made for us too.

This title was inspired from the grind house classic Gone with the Pope and obviously Pulp Fiction. Casted 'the man' Nic Cage as the Pope since everything he does is entertaining. Accompanying the main cast is Ashley Laurence from Hellraiser fame and Sherilyn Fenn from Twin Peaks.
In 1897, Pope Manufacturing began production of an electric automobile.[24] By 1899, the company had produced over 500 vehicles. Hiram Percy Maxim was head engineer of the Motor Vehicle Department. The Electric Vehicle division was spun off that year as the independent company Columbia Automobile Company but it was acquired by the Electric Vehicle Company by the end of year.[24]
Pope tried to re-enter the automobile manufacturing market in 1901 by acquiring a number of small firms, but the process was expensive and competition in the industry was heating up.
Between the years 1903 and 1915, the company operated a number of automobile companies including Pope-Hartford (1903-1914), Pope-Robinson, Pope-Toledo (1903-1909), Pope-Tribune (1904-1907) and Pope-Waverley.[25]
Pope declared bankruptcy in 1907[24] and died in August 1909.
