Il borgo medievale di Ponticello risale al XIV-XV secolo. Il borgo è caratterizzato da archi a sesto acuto, a tutto tondo e a botte, che collegano le vie e le abitazioni.
La casa torre risalente al X-XII secolo, tipica abitazione fortificata a 3 locali sovrapposti con entrata situata al primo piano, a cui si accedeva con una scala a pioli retrattile, mentre attraverso alcune botole si passava agli altri vani interni dove venivano custoditi acqua e riserve alimentari.

The medieval village of Ponticello dates back to the 14th-15th centuries. The village is characterized by pointed arches, all-round and barrel-shaped, which connect the streets and houses.
The tower house dating back to the X-XII century, a typical fortified house with 3 superimposed rooms with entrance located on the first floor, which was accessed by a retractable ladder, while through some trap doors you passed to other internal rooms where water and food reserves.

The spectacular and controversial monumental building ensemble of the new Federal Chancellery was designed by the Berlin architects Axel Schultes and Charlotte Frank during the tenure of Chancellor Helmut Kohl. After the ground-breaking ceremony on February 4, 1997 and a construction period of almost four years, the building was occupied by the then Chancellor Gerhard Schröder on May 2, 2001, completing the move of the government to Berlin. The built-up area with helipad and Kanzlerpark is about 73.000 m².
With a height of 36 meters, the building exceeds Berlin's eaves height of 22 meters and is the world's largest government headquarters. It's about eight times the size of the White House in Washington, but it has other buildings.

L'ensemble monumental spectaculaire et controversé de la nouvelle Chancellerie fédérale a été conçu par les architectes berlinois Axel Schultes et Charlotte Frank pendant le mandat du chancelier Helmut Kohl. Après la cérémonie de pose de la première pierre le 4 février 1997 et une période de construction de près de quatre ans, le bâtiment a été occupé par le chancelier Gerhard Schröder le 2 mai 2001, complétant ainsi le déménagement du gouvernement à Berlin. La surface bâtie avec héliport et Kanzlerpark est d'environ 73.000 m².
Avec une hauteur de 36 mètres, le bâtiment dépasse la hauteur des gouttières de Berlin de 22 mètres et est le plus grand siège du gouvernement du monde. C'est environ huit fois la taille de la Maison-Blanche à Washington, mais il y a d'autres bâtiments.

Después de la ceremonia de colocación de la primera piedra el 4 de febrero de 1997 y un período de construcción de casi cuatro años, el edificio fue ocupado por el entonces Canciller Gerhard Schröder el 2 de mayo de 2001, completando el traslado del gobierno a Berlín. La superficie construida con helipuerto y Kanzlerpark es de unos 73.000 m².
Con una altura de 36 metros, el edificio supera los 22 metros de altura del alero de Berlín y es la sede gubernamental más grande del mundo. Es ocho veces más grande que la Casa Blanca en Washington, pero tiene otros edificios.

Vico dritto Ponticello : Casa di Cristoforo Colombo ( dove visse da bambino tra i quattro e i nove anni ) e le mura di Porta Soprana, che custodiscono l'accesso alla città medievale da Levante. Furono costruite dai Genovesi tra il 1155 e il 1158 e avrebbero dovuto proteggere la città da un attacco del Barbarossa, mai avvenuto.

L'Avtovlak 854 (Most na Soči - Bohinjska Bistrica) transita per una delle località fotografiche più famose della ferrovia Transalpina: il delizioso ponticello di Kneža. In testa vediamo la "Reagan" 103, una tra le più anziane della flotta delle Slovenske železnice.
Avtovlak 854 (Most na Soči - Bohinjska Bistrica) passes through one of the most famous photographic locations of the Transalpina railway: the delightful Kneža bridge. At the head we see the "Reagan" 103, one of the oldest in the Slovenske železnice fleet.

Prato Piazza (ted. Plätzwiese) è un passo alpino che mette in collegamento Braies e Carbonin ed è ad una un'altitudine di 1993 metri s.l.m. Presso il passo si estende l’omonimo famoso altopiano, sito all'interno del Parco naturale Fanes - Sennes - Braies (Dolomiti). L'altopiano si estende a un'altitudine di circa 2000 m ed è protetto dall'Unesco per via del prezioso ecosistema alpino e del panorama a cui permette di assistere. Dall'altopiano, infatti, oltre al Picco di Vallandro, è possibile ammirare la Croda Rossa , le Tre Cime di Lavaredo, la Tofana e il Monte Cristallo.
Se ci si trova in Alto Adige in primavera o in estate l'altopiano è un luogo da visitare obbligatoriamente; è raggiungibile tramite una strada asfaltata da Braies, mentre, da meridione, è raggiungibile tramite una strada sterrata da Carbonin.
Il mio consiglio è di lasciare l’auto a Ponticello (dalla SS 49 della Pusteria prendere per il lago di Braies; ben prima di arrivare al lago c’è un bivio per Ponticello) e prendere una navetta che vi porterà in vetta al pianoro (fidatevi, per camminare c’è tempo).
L’arrivo al valico erboso è di quelli che ti riconciliano con il mondo. L’altopiano, circondato da meravigliose montagne, è talmente verde da sembrare irreale. Un posto inondato dal sole, di pura natura, con due rifugi che permettono anche a chi non si è attrezzato precedentemente di poter consumare un pasto.
I più in forma potranno inoltre raggiungere la Vetta del Monte Specie, partendo dal rifugio Vallandro e seguendo la mulattiera austriaca segnata col numero 34. L’oretta di scarpinata verrà ripagata da una vista da mozzare il fiato !
Al ritorno, per Ponticello, si può scendere a valle seguendo uno stretto canalone, con tanto di ruscello in cui immergere i piedi per qualche secondo (non di più ! l’acqua è freddissima anche d’estate !).Io sono un membro della banda degli onesti !
Prato Piazza (ted. Plätzwiese) is a mountain pass that connects Braies connection and Carbonin and is at a height of 1993 meters s.l.m. At the step extends the famous plateau of the same name, located in the Natural Park Fanes - Sennes - Prags (Dolomites). The plateau extends to an altitude of about 2000 m and is protected by UNESCO because of the precious Alpine ecosystem and the landscape that allows to assist. From the plateau, in addition to Dürrenstein, you can admire the Croda Rossa, Three Peaks, Tofana and Monte Cristallo.
If you are in South Tyrol in spring or summer, the plateau is a place not be missed; It is reached by a paved road from Braies, while, from the south, is reached by a dirt road from Carbonin.
My advice is to leave the car at Ponticello (from SS 49 Pusteria take to Lake Braies, well before reaching the lake there is a junction for Bridge) and take a shuttle to take you to the summit of the plateau ( trust me, there is time to walk).
The arrival at the grassy pass is one that will reconcile people with the world. The plateau, surrounded by mountains, is so green that it seems unreal. A place bathed by the sun, pure nature, with two shelters that allow even those who have not previously equipped to be able to have a meal.
On your return you can return to the valley along a narrow gully, complete with a stream in which soak your feet for a few seconds (no more! The water is very cold even in summer!).
I specify that I have never used gimmicks to increase the number of views.
Also, I don't change from hour to hour the loading time of my photos to get more visits to the detriment of other flickers.

Street walking Nov 2020, found this classic fountain; literally in the middle of the street. Great to see that something of Antiquity and beauty wasn't removed for motorized traffic. A historic 16th century fountain; Fontana Barchile Di Ponticello. A tresure of a find, best tours are just walking the streets and talking to the locals. I truly miss traveling...

Riflessi serali nei tranquilli canali di Comacchio (Ferrara): sullo sfondo, vicino al ponticello, si intravvede un presepe, uno dei tanti che durante le festività natalizie vengono posizionati lungo i cari canali cittadini.

Evening reflection in the quiet canals of Comacchio town (Italy): in the background, near the small bridge, you can glimpse a nativity scene, one of the many that during the Christmas holidays are placed along the several canals of the city.
Actually, I was working on macros of this orchid in my garden; and Jake was curious. He did spend a little time studying it, but eventually smelled it, and then tried to eat it. I'll definitely post more pics of the orchid, and maybe some more of Jake's "meditation" adventure in the garden.

I also play the cello, so sometimes musical keys and musical pieces seem to fit with pictures. This series I'm working on just somehow fits with the C# minor key, for those of you musicians out there. I especially like Beethoven's String Quartet in C-Sharp Minor, Opus 131. This picture is like movement 4, Andante. . . www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhTnLxdH4QI&feature=related . Later, I'll post another photo perhaps, that corresponds more to movement 5 (also included in the above link). To me, Movement 5 really captures puppy energy-- among many other things that go way beyond dogs. In movement 5, there are exquisite parts that are played ponticello (bowing very close to the bridge), a rare use of this musical expression. The musical sound is quite etheral and other worldly; and seems appropriate for this time of Passover and Easter. If you wish to take the time, you can hear it in the Youtube link above, but the link contains parts of movements 4 and 5; and it's in movement 5 that you hear the beautiful ponticello effects. (At least at the 10 minute point in this Youtube recording, you hear a little of the ponticello -- not sure this recording has the whole 5th movement.)

Dal ponticello in legno che attraversa il torrente Rio Valles, nel omonimo paese (frazione di Rio Pusteria), inizia il percorso didattico dedicato ai bambini per conoscere il latte e gli animali da pascolo nominato "Sentiero del Latte". Un percorso che porta poi alla meta finale nel paesaggio alpino di Malga Fane.
From the wooden bridge that crosses the Rio Valles stream, in the homonymous village (fraction of Rio Pusteria), start the didactic path dedicated to children to learn about the milk and the grazing animals named "Milk Path" . A path that then leads to the final destination in the alpine landscape of Malga Fane.
Partendo dai 1666 metri del piazzale di Valnontey si supera il villaggio di Valmiana dove la strada si trasforma in mulattiera e, costeggiando in alto il torrente Valnontey, si arriva al bivio dove si stacca, a sinistra, il sentiero per il bivacco Money.
Si prosegue raggiungendo il ponte dell'Erfaulet a quota 1830 m. Attraversandolo si segue il ramo di destra che supera con numerosi tornanti alcuni salti rocciosi e balze erbose, per indirizzarsi in direzione nord, verso il torrente Herbetet. Dopo averlo oltrepassato su di un ponticello e superata un'ultima impennata si giunge ai casolari dell'Herbetet, nei pressi dei quali si trova la casa di sorveglianza del parco (quota 2680).
Lo spettacolo sulla testata della valle e sul complesso montuoso del Gran Paradiso è grandioso. Da sinistra si osservano le Punte Patrì, gli Apostoli, la Roccia Viva, la Becca di Gay, la Testa di Crou e del Valnontey, la Punta Ceresole e il Gran Paradiso vero e proprio (4.061 metri s.l.m.).

Starting with 1,666 meters over sea level from Valnontey valley you have to pass the village of Valmiana where the road turns into the trail, along the Valnontey torrent, to the Money bivouac.
You can continue, reaching the Erfaulet bridge to an altitude of 1,830 m. Crossing it you can follows the right branch that exceeds several curves, rocky ledges and grassy cliffs in northerly direction towards the Herbetet river. After you have crossed it on a bridge and passed a final surge uou leads to Herbetet, near which there is the house of surveillance of the park.
The show at the head of the valley and the mountain range of the Gran Paradiso is great. From left are observed Patrì peak, the Apostles, the Viva Rock, the Becca di Gay, the Head of Crou and of Valnontey, Punta Ceresole and the Gran Paradiso (4.061 meters over s.l.)
