Jackson Pollock, on an Etch-a-Sketch

Kilkee is regarded as one of the safest bathing places in Ireland being protected from the full force of the Atlantic by a reef known as the 'Duggerna Rock'. The Pollock and Diamond Holes, on the west end of town, are three natural rock-enclosed pools. They retain the sea water when the tides recede form natural swimming pools from Kilkee Bay. It was rated by the late Oceanographer Jacques Cousteau as the best diving location in Europe and among the top five in the world. The diving boards allow for dives of up to 13 metres (45 feet) into the open sea. They are the best natural resource for Children exploring the sea pools and for hardy swimmers bracing the sea. The Diamond Cafe overlooks the pollock holes, well worth a call, after a swim or a walk along the engaging cliff face.

This week my plan was to test the Clyde , actually with not much expectation , however with some reasonable mild weather ,

Marcos , Glen and I went .

We choose Gourock , right across the Gantocks , one of the best cod ground back in the days .

Finding an easy launch spot was not easy , eventually we managed in the heart of the town . Today's tactic is light , Lrf rod , 4lb fluorocarbon and some tiny lures . away somehow sheltered from the light westerly wind . Dropshotting and slowly drifting I soon registered a massive tug . I knew I was in the zone . The next cast was even more rewarding with a fine pollock .

I then had my hook straighten .

Every so often the ferry boat would create a massive wave , adding a little spice , although we did stay stable on our kayaks . Glen and Marcos were enjoying the species tied on some buoys , even caught a mackerel .

We then fished altogether looking for some more pollock , slowly drifting close in . I stopped counting after a while , that good that was . The dead Clyde turned out to be alive .

We finished our day fishing the bay looking for more species . Still on the lrf rod working some baited sabiki we started to nail some mackerel . The whiting , small codling , baby haddock even flat fish were all on the species list . And so we went back to the town with an interesting day to remember .

On a more serious note . Lrf , Light rock fishing Rocks . With fine tuning those flimsy rods can take a pounding . Although a fine day on the water always be aware of the massive wave a ferry boat can create . Enjoy the photos , watch the video and tight lines all .

I'm a big Jackson Pollock fan and this reminded me of his style and art so I had to post although its not the greatest fireworks shot one could shoot. This is from the New York City Fourth of July 2008 fireworks show on the East River looking towards the Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn, and lower Manhattan. This was shot from Long Island City.

Introduced in 1985, the FL10 ('forward, low-cab') was, for many years, the biggest-selling Volvo in the UK market. It brought 'big truck' style and driver comfort to mainstream low-built trucks. Thirty years later, it does not look out of place on today's roads. And there is nothing better than classic design enhanced by a classic livery, such as this Pollock's liveried FL10 (06-Feb-15).

This was the latest kayak fishing trip , fishing the firth of Clyde , and what a season we had . This was also the coldest trip in 2017 , sitting the kayak on the roof rack the temperature was minus 8C . On that very cold morning we added a new kayaker on the block .Safety in numbers . Once again we enjoyed the lightest tactics , very light lrf rods and little soft lure doing the damage . With 22 different species of fish this has been quite an achievement although there is still room for improvement . I would like to thanks Central Scotland Kayak anglers for participating on the weekly kayak monday . The team spirit and the knowledge has been remarkable , sharing our experience made it easier for us all . I would like to keep all those memories intact and carry on the journey . I would like to thanks Scotland and all those beautiful sceneries , I have also spend hours on the kayak feeling cold and wet . The season is ending too soon now and once again and next season will be fearless . We will adventure in the unknown paddling miles on the pristine waters . Stay tuned and enjoy our weekly post .
