instead of playing pointless video games tonight, i completed (for the most part) a dress for my mod molly doll that i have dubbed:
Gladys (the doll not the dress :P )
this is a fabric swatch from joanne's that i randomly picked up, and it's small size was perfect for a dress for blythe. i had no pattern, but i just used the dress that mod molly comes with (the jumper) to get a rough idea of the size.
i measured it, and i transferred the measurements to paper. i cut the front piece on the fold, and the back piece on the fold.
to make the back, i just cut down the center, and attached velcro to either side of the length of the cut.
i hemmed the bottom pieces first, before sewing, because that's a TINY hem. usually, i can wrap the hem around the base of my sewing machine but not this one (even with my fancy new sewing machine!).
i attached both pieces, and as a finishing touch, i used embroidery thread to attach an edging of pom poms.
i love this outfit because it matches Gladys' green eyes! next, i'm making little flats out of felt! ^_^

The opening night of Pointless Theatre Company's "A Very Pointless Holiday" in the Flashpoint Gallery.
Ok, so I finally gave in and bought an iPod touch, and I must say it is a gorgeous little beast. I've always disliked iPods intensely for a number of a reasons but this one I genuinely love. Thinner than the iPhone, twice the memory of an iPhone, and it doesn't have a ridiculously expensive phone contract on top restricting you to one mobile provider. Good stuff.

Except that I thought the carnival worker looked a lot like Rush Limbaugh, and I though for a moment he had gotten employment more suitable for his talents.
The folk managing the local wilderness park are attempting to "restore" cactus to a hillside that does not support cactus. My guess ... once they stop watering the cactus, they will be dead in two years.
The naturally occurring cactus throughout the park are badly stressed at this point, and most of those are in more water-rich locations. Some hillsides only support annuals, as there is just not enough year-round water.
