It did a pretty good job. Had to load into photo shop for a couple of tweaks on the horizon line alignment.

Idaho's Initial Point is a volcanic butte rising from the western Snake River Plain. Beginning on April 19, 1867, surveyors mapped the entire state starting from this butte. Every piece of land in the state is referenced by its direction and distance from a brass survey marker located on top of the butte.

Rattlesnake Point receives its name from the snake-like path cut by glaciers along the edges of the Niagara Escarpment, rather than from the Massassauga Rattlesnake. It is one of the most scenic areas between Toronto and Hamilton, with old cedars, limestone cliffs, beautiful caves, and hiking trails. It is a United Nations Biosphere-protected area.

Thank you, my kind Flickr friends, for visiting my site and taking the time to leave a comment. Truly appreciated!

This is a preview to my vacation trip posted because this week (28 May - 04 June) I have the honor to run a contest at The Unforgettable Pictures Group and I picked the theme "Lighthouses". If you are interested have a look at www.flickr.com/groups/theunforgetablepictures/discuss/721...

Point Pinos Light is located in Pacific Grove, California, near Monterey.

This is sunrise from the promontory of Hurlestone Point, Exmoor and the ruined tower of the old coast guard's lookout station. There is a saying in photography circles that you cannot force a shot and that an image has to offer to be taken. This was one of those occasions as i was only out to complete a wildlife project and almost didn't grab the camera but as the dawn colours and sun emerged i saw an opportunity, quickly set up and took this one.

Completed in 1883, the lighthouse eased the way for maritime traffic around Point Lowly. The original 15 metres tall tower was extended by eight metres in 1909. Manned for 90 years, the Point Lowly beacon became automated and was eventually delisted from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority register. Since 1995, the lighthouse has been owned by the City of Whyalla. The cottages are available for holiday accommodation through the Whyalla Visitor Information Centre.

Gogerly's Point was named after Charles James Gogerly a young man that was charged for shoplifting and sentenced in England. He made his journey as a convict to Australia in 1818 as a labourer with the Australian Agriculture Company. He was pardoned in December 1840 and made his home at Port Hacking.

Gogerly's Point is located in the Royal National Park on the west side of Port Hacking estuary, about 25k south of Sydney.

Dans les hauteurs de la Bolivie, face au salar d'Uyuni, cette vieille sage s'interroge. Doit-on sacrifier la beauté de ce lieu pour encourager l'exploitation économique de tout le lithium qui s'y trouve?

Just wanted to say thank you to all of my followers, I just reached 1,000. I must say, Flickr has got to be my favorite form of social media for photography. My photography has improved so much since joining this great community of photographers. I appreciate all of the interactions I have with everyone. To those of you that have followed me for a while now, thanks, I hope you've enjoyed my progression as a photographer. For those of you that are more recent, thanks for following along!

This image is from a trip to Canyonlands National Park after this past Thanksgiving. At sunrise I was all the way down to the very tip of Grand View Point, after shooting there for a bit, we hiked back the way we came when I came across this scene. The light was incredible as it filled the canyon. After capturing a few images, my fiancé and I sat down and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the morning as our legs hung off the edge of the canyon.

In other news, I recently had one of my images (www.flickr.com/photos/steve_pulver/36746019492/in/datepos...) selected to be in my first ever juried photo show. The show is at the Lone Tree Arts Center, in Lone Tree, CO. Opening reception is March 31st from 1-3pm. Come say hi if you'd like!! My photo will be on display through May.

As always, thanks for engaging with my photos. I really enjoy it!

"The greatest meeting of land and water in the world." That was famed landscape artist Francis McComas's bold but justified claim for Point Lobos.

I used a Lee 10-stop filter to extend the exposure to 4 minutes, a Lee Polarizer, and also a Lee Pink filter for the sky. Very minimal post-processing.

Our Navajo guide (Bernard) said stand on the "x" and take the shot. Even though I have stood in this spot a number of years ago as have many others it was fun to frame up this classic shot in beautiful Monument Valley.

The rocky finger of the Pointe du Grouin points out and protects the entrance into the bay of Mont Saint-Michel.

On this headland, a Grande Randonnée footpath runs around hugging the cliff face and there is a circular walk starting out from Cancale.

On their way the walker can enjoy views of the ÃŽle des Landes a long barren outcrop (now a bird sanctuary), the lighthouse, the ÃŽles Chausey, Granville on the Normandy coast, and, on a clear day, the outline of Mont Saint-Michel.

During the night some thieves pinched our esky from the campsite :( We found it near the beach with its contents strewn about the bush and all the Caramello Koalas gone :( Two good sunrises in a row made up for it though. This was taken on Sunday morning near the southern carpark at Point Arkwright. Another great location and one I'll be keen to return to again.

Point Lobos, California

April 2016

Point Fermin is a rocky point with high bluffs above the Pacific Ocean. It sits on the north side of the bay that has the Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach Port, the busiest port in the U.S This is the view north toward L.A., most of the coastline along Southern California is rocky with high bluffs as you see here. Most of the beaches are in bays which offer protection from the pounding waves. The dark brown area in the center is a kelp forest; these are common along the Pacific Coast and create an environment rich in marine life. The kelp anchor to the ocean floor and can be hundreds of feet tall.
