The Lions are a pair of pointed peaks (West Lion - 1,646 m (5,400 ft); East Lion - 1,606 m (5,269 ft)) along the North Shore Mountains in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They can be seen from much of the Greater Vancouver area, as far as Robert Burnaby Park in East Burnaby, south to parts of Surrey, and from the west on the Howe Sound Islands and the Sunshine Coast. Along with the Lions Gate Bridge named in their honour, these twin summits have become one of the most recognizable Vancouver landmarks.
I went back to WIllow Lake to scout out possible sunset shots. . I didn't bring my Tripod, thinking that a clear sky equals A boring shot. As many times in the past I was wrong. With the ISO cranked and camera pointed north I caught the pink glow that envelopes the area as the sun dips behind the mountains. It is very counter intuitive to not shoot west for a sunset. Another learning experience,
This picture is very noisy so I plan on going back to shoot with a tripod.
A pointed leaf found by my son (7 years) during a hike and held by him while taking this photo and until reaching home.
Dragonfly chooses the lotus blossom bud as its perch for the moment. This may be a variety of Meadowhawk but I'm uncertain.

Like every year, I got creative for Halloween this year. Unlike last year, this year only relatively little Photoshop magic was used. In fact, the image looked almost like the final version already out of the camera. The recipe for this is much more the use of strobes.
Strobist Info:
The glass globe is on a glass table. Below the sphere I placed a Canon Speedlite 430 EX II with a green gel filter.
Above the fortune teller and slightly to the right of it, I placed a Yongnuo YN685 with a light red gel filter in an SMDV Speedbox. This was pointed almost directly down and the flash set to low.
There were candles in the two glasses. I only had to adjust the exposure time so that the glasses also came into their own.
Taken at the WWT, Slimbridge, UK.
Its plumage is mainly white, with black on the bird's wings. Adults have long red legs and long pointed red beaks. They breed in Europe north to Finland, northwestern Africa, Palearctic east to southern Kazakhstan and southern Africa. The white stork is a long-distance migrant, wintering in Africa from tropical Sub-Saharan Africa to as far south as South Africa, or on the Indian subcontinent. When migrating between Europe and Africa, it avoids crossing the Mediterranean Sea and detours via the Levant in the east or the Strait of Gibraltar in the west, because the air thermals on which it depends for soaring do not form over water.
I haven't been out with the camera too often in the last 2-3 weeks. The reason for this was constant rain almost around the clock. So I did some digging in the archives.
Shot with the Schneider Kreuznach Xenon 50mm f1.9, open aperture+ Cosina closeup lens.

One of the few insects I saw today - weather was cold and overcast again.
I think it's a female Syrphus ribesii, but please correct me if I'm wrong... I was wrong! Timz501 has pointed out that it's Syrphus vitripennis... and Tristan has suggested yet another one!
Handheld, natural light.
Scarlet Robin sitting on a fence paling. This image was taken with a compact zoom, then severely cropped and as a result rather noisy, so I played around with app Mextures to get a more artistic look.
Rare Butterfly in the Arable Field at Venus Pool Nature Reserve near Shrewsbury. Kindly pointed out by a kind Lady otherwise we would have walked right past it.
MINI POINTED CABBAGE…
Inside and outside. I love the curves and lines in this ‘Pointed cabbage’.
Pointed, hispi, hearted or sweetheart cabbage as it is sometimes known is a type of green cabbage with green leaves and a pointed head.
The leaves are more open than those of a green cabbage and they have a softer texture and sweeter taste.

D721 is exiting Graham Tunnel in the late afternoon light. It was pointed out to me by one of the locals that the enlarge the tunnels to accommodate to 9'6" stacks the finished products looks like a cats ears, I agree. This is a neat area and I will be back.
Who knows, maybe :)

Elastic Band Trick
Other People have done this before, some may have better techniques than this but this is the one I use. Feel free anyone to use this and I'm always open to questions and suggestions etc. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
Elastic Band Trick
The detailed picture step guide to get positioning of the arms on Lego Figures using one small elastic band.
I used small medical scissors because they were pointed and curved to get into the arm hole and the loop of the band to pull it out the other arm hole. You can use pretty much anything with those qualities. (Curved and pointed)
Schlumbergera truncata resembles other species of the genus Schlumbergera in that it has leafless green stems which act as photosynthetic organs. The stems (cladodes) are composed of strongly flattened segments, which have two or three "teeth" of varying shapes along their edges and at the ends. The ends of the stems are "cut off" (truncated) rather than pointed. Individual segments are about 4–6 cm (1.6–2.4 in) long by 1.5–3.5 cm (0.6–1.4 in) wide.[2]
Special structures characteristic of cacti, called "areoles", occur between two teeth at the end of segments. The areoles, which have brown wool and bristles up to 3 mm (0.1 in) long, are where the flower buds appear. The flowers are held at a constant angle somewhat above the horizontal with the higher side different from the lower side (zygomorphic, specifically bilaterally symmetrical). The flowers are about 6.5–8 cm (2.6–3.1 in) long by 4–6 cm (1.6–2.4 in) across. There are six to eight tepals, which may be of various colours, including shades of red, orange, pink and white. The outer tepals (those at the base of the flower) are shorter and bent backwards, the inner tepals are longer and fused together at the base to form a floral tube; nectar is produced at the base of this tube. The lower inner petals are bent backwards so that the upper inner petals appear longer. Plants flower in the autumn: around May in their natural habitat, in October to November in cultivation in the Northern Hemisphere; short days and long nights are necessary to induce flowering.[2]
A characteristic of the genus Schlumbergera is that the many stamens are arranged in two series: the inner stamens form a ring around the style; the outer stamens arise from the floral tube. The filaments of the stamens are white, the anthers and pollen being yellow. The style has six to eight lobes at its end and is dark red.[2]
When ripe, the fruit is red, pear-shaped, and about 1.2 cm (0.5 in) long or exceptionally up to 2.3 cm (0.9 in) long. The shiny seeds are black, each with a diameter of about 1 mm (0.04 in).
this common yellowthroat was losing patience with my interest in her movements...(kinda liked her pointed tail feathers)
