'At the still point of the turning world.
Neither flesh nor fleshless;
neither from nor towards;
at the still point,
there the dance is.'

Project 365-062 and...
another imaginative contribution to a walking trail; this second one is on the west side of the park at the base of a large tree.
Point Arena Lighthouse is perhaps the most breath taking lighthouse along the California coast. The tallest of the lighthouses in California, its location along the Mendocino County Coastline is also the closest to the Hawaiian Islands --not that it means anything--it's just a fun fact. Usually there is healthy blanket of fog draped along the coast during the spring months. I was lucky on this early spring morning to catch this venerable old lighthouse aglow with the radiant light of a brand new day.

Knights Point Outlook. Back in the 50's, the area was surveyed by Norman McGeorge and the Point was named after his dog Knight.
The Point Bonita Lighthouse was first lit on May 2, 1855. Lens: Fixed, second-order Fresnel purchased from Paris for $7,000. First fog signal used on the U.S. West Coast was at Point Bonita. An Army-surplus, eight-foot long, 24-pounder siege gun from the Benicia Arsenal.

To me this rock looks like the profile of a Hamadryas Baboon. This is a rocky headland near Rockingham, Western Australia
3135 feet of elevation gain in 3 1/2 miles. And that's all that I have to say about that...
Mildred point is one of the highest viewpoints on the South side of Rainier next to Van Trump (which is kinda in view to the right) and of course Skyline which if you lost your baring's you might find yourself on the summit of the volcano... It is also unique in that it doesn't take you to a lovely spot, nay, it takes you to a chasm, a rocky valley carved and eroded by many a lahar and landslides depicting the more volatile aspects of the Grand Lady. Up and to the left you can just discern the Kautz Glacier and the birth of the creek by the same name as it is expelled into the world via waterfalls and a downhill run that would make a bobsledder cry. The chill wind is in your face and ruffling your clothes all the while the sound of water surrounds you interrupted occasionally by the sound of a boulder bouncing down the steep slopes and the insanely loud CRACK of the glacier melting in the Summer heat. I was alone as I'd set off at dawn and I couldn't find a bird, squirrel, dear, elk, bear, nor human in any pics or in person, it was eerie, just me and the mountain that I'd not seen in what felt like ages sharing a moment.
God rest the Queen, long live the King.
ps. once you see the smiley face you won't be able to unsee it. :)
Blow it up, lots to see in there.
Spent a few weeks out on Nantucket this summer and was lucky enough to get some nice shots of the lighthouse and the stars.
The rugged coast line of Lake Huron, Ontario, Canada leading out to Sunset Point at MacGregor Provincial Park.
CC Week 5 - Vanishing Point
It may be a boring photo, but of all the photos I have taken this week, this one best illustrates the idea of a vanishing point, as you can see lines converging from all sides.
A view from Windy Point looking north. This the start of the Samuel H Boardman State Scenic Corridor when heading south.
"Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor is a linear state park in southwestern Oregon. It is 12 miles (19 km) long thru a thickly forested, steep and rugged coastline with a few small sand beaches. It is named in honor of Samuel H. Boardman, the first Oregon Parks superintendent.
The Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge and Oregon Islands Wilderness protect wildlife and habitat on all of the approximately 130 rocks and islands along the corridor's shore." wikipedia
A sea stack lovers treasure trove.
Enjoy a wonderful weekend!
Tibbetts Point Lighthouse is at the entrance to the St. Lawrence River from Lake Ontario and is located in Cape Vincent, NY.
Storm is coming! Sapphire Point Overlook In Colorado sits between Keystone and Breckenridge on Swan Mountain Road, at an elevation of 9,500 feet. The overlook offers a stunning view of Dillon Reservoir, hemmed in by the Gore and Tenmile mountain ranges.
Point Iroquois Light is a lighthouse on a Chippewa County bluff in the U.S. state of Michigan. Point Iroquois and its light mark the division line between Whitefish Bay and the western end of the St. Marys River, the connection between Lake Superior and other Great Lakes.
Neist Point, Duirinish, Isle of Skye: the most westerly extremity of the island.
This view is just as big a cliché as Elgol and is, almost always, crawling with photographers around sunset. Just to make my attempt slightly different, I used the NDx1000 filter to get a long enough exposure to smooth out the sea.

See www.karlwilliamsphotography.co.uk/tutorials for a tutorial on the use of the NDx1000 filter for long exposures.
One from last year, which seems a long time ago now. This is the point between Little Salmon and Salmon Bay where a pair of sea eagles next on the sea stack at Rottnest Island.
A 2017 photo from Yellowstone National Park at Artist Point looking down through the canyon toward the lower falls. This popular overlook yields a fantastic view and surreal photos.
Developed Darktable 3.6.0.
Nash Point has claimed many ships , as Nash sands necessitates ships from Swansea and west Wales having to go through a narrow passage close to this headland. the two lighthouses at Nash guide marine traffic through this passage, but there've still been lots of wrecks in this area. Shipbuilding is by Robert Wyatt on my playlist. More linocuts today.
Another shot of Beckley Point in Plymouth, taken on an evening out with Jay Stone.
Beckley Point is Plymouth's newest student accommodation tower block and at 23 floors it's the tallest building in the South West. A lot of local people think it looks ugly and is a blot on the landscape, but at night I think it looks pretty cool.
I do like doing night time photography, I don't do enough of it but I think we're quite limited in Plymouth. We don't have lots of lit up buildings and futuristic looking skyscrapers like they do in London, so once you've shot an area here at night there aren't really many options left.

Montauk Point Lighthouse. From sunrise on one beach to sunset on another, a wonderful day on Long Island...
One of my several sightings of bobcat at Point Reyes National Seashore - this one with guide Daniel of Point Reyes Wildlife Safaris.
Pan Am Railways' Plainville, CT turn jobs EDPL and its' counterpart PLED were tough to get, as they were mostly a night time operation. During the summer of 2015, early morning northbound runs on the Springfield Line were becoming common. On this clear July 24, 2015 PLED had a pair of CT assigned EMD GP40's 350-352 leading the way, shown here crossing the Connecticut River at Warehouse point, just north of Windsor Locks, CT.
