After seeing Steve Carlson's photo of DL&W RS11 1804 at East Stroudsburg yesterday, I had to go check and see if I had uploaded all my shots from the two times I've gotten the RS11 on the Pocono Main. Here we have PT-98 cresting the grade at Pocono Summit in a splash of sunlight on a trying afternoon, with 1804 leading 3642, 3000 and 211.
Having just picked up grain loads off the NS at Portland, PT-97 ducks under the old Lackawanna Cutoff viaduct on its way back north to home rails.
After meeting the PO-84 at Winton, PO-74 runs east past Elmhurst with the 3007 leading two of the road's 6 axle MLW products.
DL PO-84 was sent out ahead of the PO-74 to pick up empties from the grain mill at Pocono Summit, and is returning west for Scranton at Elmhurst, PA. They'll soon meet the PO-74 at Winton, which will then come east for Slateford.
Delaware-Lackawanna's C636 3642 was pulling past the former Lackawanna tower in Tobyhanna while dealing with propane and propane accessories.
It's always a productive day on the Delaware-Lackawanna.
Under a plume of smoke the DL PO-74 departs Scranton with the usual trio of 6 axle Alco/MLW products hauling a decent train for points east.
DL PO-74 has arrived at Pocono Summit with a quintet of the companies ALCOs on the point. With mostly grain cars for Ardent Mills behind them & only a few hours left to work, the crew will take only the grains cars & work Ardent Mills before calling it a day.
Also having the companies 2 Erie Lackawanna C425s on the point was an added bonus since they would have ran on this line regularly back in the 60s & 70s. 10-19-21
PO74 heads up into the poconos with 3 MLWs viewed from the Erie Jessup Branch. They would make a pick up at Winton shortly after passing here and continue east to the Delaware Water Gap
A couple swans swim around the shore of Pocono Summit Lake while the PO74 picks up grain at LAKE siding.
Delaware Lackawanna PO74 emerges from the fog at Pocono Summit, PA with a four pack of ALCo/MLW locomotives.
The steady rainfall that started while PO-75 worked Pocono Summit had thankfully lessened by the time the train reached Elmhurst. 2461 seems to be shedding water droplets while passing under the former DL&W signal bridge at this location. All of that precipitation had given a nice shine to the consist, particularly the faded blue of the "Wabash" C424.
